Apple Fritters

Vegetable oil,

all-purpose flour

sugar

baking powder

cinnamon

salt

eggs

milk

butter

vanilla extract

Granny Smith apples,

Powdered sugar, for dusting, optional

Serving suggestions: breakfast sausage and bacon

Heat a couple of inches of vegetable oil in a heavy pot or Dutch oven over medium to medium-low heat until a deep-fry thermometer inserted in the oil registers 340 degrees F.

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with a fork, then add the milk, melted butter and vanilla. Gently fold the dry and wet ingredients together until just combined (do not over-mix). Fold in the apples, adding enough to make a very chunky batter.

Drop heaping tablespoons of batter into the hot oil, 6 to 8 at a time. Fry until golden brown, 4 to 6 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels. Dust generously with powdered sugar and serve warm with sausage and bacon!

These were AMAZING, I didn't watch the video, but using the 4 cups versus 2 cups of flour may be why I had more apple than dough....lolol.....They were AMAZING, but I would definitely cur apples SMALL. Like pencil eraser size.  <br />

amount of each ingredient is vastly different in written recipe compared to what Ree states she is adding in video...food network please fix?????

OMG, I made these yesterday and they are all gone.  It is 9pm the next night, and frying up another batch!  Family is hooked up again..

These were so easy to make (I followed the recipe as is - no adjustments) and my husband loved them.  I did roll them in cinnamon sugar and skipped the powdered sugar - and they were delicious.  The apples get piping hot inside, the outside is crisp, and the inside is fluffy.  Really wonderful for a brunch!

Ree's Breakfast Apple Fritters

These crisp perfectly sweet apple fritters are a super-easy homemade treat that comes together in a few minutes.

vegetable oil

all-purpose flour (180 grams)

tbsp sugar (36 grams)

2.5 tsp baking powder

nutmeg

milk (180 milliliters)

tsp vanilla (10 milliliters)

tbsp butter

apples (about 460 grams)

tbsp lemon juice (about 1/2 lemon)

sugar (200 grams)

lemon juice (fresh)

water (plus more if needed)

Add about a quart of vegetable oil into a heavy pot or Dutch oven. Place over medium high heat with a thermometer attached to the side. The oil needs to be heated to about 350F so keep an eye on the thermometer while you prepare the batter and adjust temperature if needed.

Peel the apples and cut flesh from core. Chop into roughly half inch pieces. Transfer to a bowl, squeeze the juice of half a lemon over them, toss and set aside.

In a large bowl add the flour sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and baking powder. Whisk together and set aside.

In a medium bowl add the eggs, vanilla, and milk. Whisk together well and pour into the dry mixture. Us a spatula to fold the wet into the dry until ALMOST combined.

Add the cubed apples and mix together so all the apples are coated.

Pour in the melted butter and mix in.

Use an ice cream scoop to transfer batched of batter into the oil. I suggest frying about 6 fritters at a time.

Once the fritters are golden brown on the bottom us a turn them over with thongs or a spider skimmer and fry until golden brown on other side.

Transfer fritters to a plate lined with a few layers of paper towels and continue frying until better is all used up.

Sift the sugar into a medium bowl then add the lemon juice and water. Whisk together until completely incorporated and add more water if needed. You want a thin consistency for the fritters.

Either dip the fritters in the glaze and allow to set on a wire rack or use a spoon to drizzle the glaze over them.

My fritters have a touch of lemon inside and in the glaze to wake the flavors up but you can also roll in cinnamon sugar if that’s your jam.

Fluffy, buttery, white cake loaf loaded with chunks of apples and layers of brown sugar and cinnamon swirled inside and on top.  Simply Irresistible!

Awesome Country Apple Fritter Bread

brown sugar

butter (softened)

eggs (room temp)

milk or almond milk (room temp)

apples

powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Use a 9x5-inch loaf pan and spray with non-stick spray or line with foil and spray with non-stick spray to get out easily for slicing.

Mix 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon together in a bowl. Set aside.

Combine &amp; whisk 1 &amp; 1/2 cups flour and 1 &amp; 3/4 teaspoons baking powder together in another bowl and set aside.

In another medium-sized bowl, beat 2/3 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 cup softened butter together using an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.

Beat in 2 eggs, one at a time until blended in; add in 1 &amp; 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract and mix in.

Add the flour mixture into creamed butter mixture and mix until blended.

Mix 1/2 cup milk into batter and continue mixing until smooth.

Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan; add half the chopped apple mixture with the sugar and cinnamon added in.

Sprinkle 1/2 of the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture you set aside earlier, on top of apple layer.&nbsp;

Pour the remaining batter over apple layer and top with remaining chopped apples, then the remaining brown sugar/cinnamon mixture.

Lightly pat apples into batter; swirl brown sugar mixture through apples using knife or spoon.

Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center of the loaf comes out clean, approximately 60 minutes.

To make glaze, mix 1/2 cup powdered sugar and 1 to 3 tablespoons milk or cream together until well mixed.&nbsp; (Place mixture in microwave for 10 seconds to get it pourable if it needs a boost.)

Let loaf rest in pan for about 15 minutes before removing from pan to let cool off completely on a cooling rack. Drizzle with glaze.

If you want more glaze, make a double batch. :)

My apple fritters (no yeast!) are sweet, tender, and fluffy, and are absolutely packed with flavor. Dip them in a 3 ingredient apple cider glaze or roll them in cinnamon/sugar and enjoy! 

Vegetable or canola oil (for frying)

cinnamon (divided)

all purpose flour ((250 grams))

sugar ((66 grams))

Tablespoons brown sugar

Tablespoons baking powder

eggs (room temperature preferred)

milk ((235 milliliters))

unsalted butter (melted and cooled several minutes)

sugar ((250 grams))

Combine your apples and ½ teaspoon cinnamon in a bowl and toss until apples are coated with cinnamon. Set aside.

In a separate, large bowl, combine flour, sugars, baking powder, remaining ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl and whisk until well-combined.

Crack your eggs in a separate bowl and use a whisk to beat until pale yellow and frothy (about 15 seconds). Add milk and vanilla extract and whisk together.

Slowly, while whisking, pour melted butter into wet ingredients and whisk until well-combined (mixture may look slightly curdled).

Pour wet ingredients into dry and use a spatula to fold ingredients together until about halfway combined. Add cinnamon coated apple pieces and continue to fold into batter until all ingredients are just combined.

Set the batter aside and fill a Dutch oven or large saucepan 2-3" deep with oil for frying. Fix a candy thermometer to the edge (make sure it is in the oil but not touching the bottom of the pan) and set your heat to medium-low. Oil will need to reach 360-365F (175-185C) before you can continue.

While oil is heating, prepare your glaze by whisking together sugar, apple cider (or substitute) and vanilla extract until smooth. Set aside.

Once oil has reached temperature, use a large spoon or an ice cream scoop (this is my preferred method) to scoop about 3 Tablespoons of batter and *carefully* drop into the oil. Repeat with 2 more scoops of batter and fry each for 60-75 seconds on each side, or until golden brown.

Use tongs to remove apple fritters to a paper-towel lined plate and allow to cool several minutes before dipping in glaze and transferring to a cooling rack to allow glaze to set. Be sure to allow the oil to return to the correct temperature before frying more fritters.

Apple fritters are best enjoyed warm the same day they are made for best quality.

Stir in apples and then drop by heaping tablespoon into hot oil and fry both sides until golden brown.

Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a plate lined with paper towels.

Once fritters are still a little warm, dip one fritter at a time into glaze. Place on a baking sheet or a plate lined with parchment paper.

Place a cooling rack over a large, rimmed baking sheet.

Cut each biscuit in quarters with a sharp knife and add to a large mixing bowl.

Pour in the apple pie filling, flour and cinnamon. Mix well to combine. Pour out onto a floured surface and spread into a large rectangle. Cut into 12 pieces.

Heat 2 inches of oil to 350°F in a cast iron skillet or other large, rimmed skillet.

Using a spatula, scoop up the apple dough and carefully slide into hot oil. Do not over crowd the pan and steam them. Cook 3 minutes per side until golden, being sure not to burn. Lift out of the oil and rest on a cooling rack to drain excess oil. Keep oil at 350°F.
