Savory and juicy sliced beef served over steamed rice, this delicious Yoshinoya Beef Bowl is a weeknight meal keeper!&nbsp;

Yoshinoya Beef Bowl (Gyudon)

¾ lb thinly sliced beef (chuck or rib eye)

ginger

2-3 Onsen Tamago (Recipe) ((optional))

Gather all the ingredients.

If you cannot find sliced beef in your local grocery store, freeze a block of fresh chuck or rib eye for 1-2 hours and slice. See this post for detailed instructions. After you slice, if the piece is too large then cut them in half. I use &quot;Komagire cut&quot; from my local market and I cut them further into smaller pieces.

Cut the onion into thinly slices and chop the green onion. Set aside.

Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat and add ½ cup (120 ml) dashi, 1 Tbsp sake, 1 Tbsp sugar, 2 Tbsp mirin, and 2 Tbsp soy sauce.

Cover the lid and bring the sauce to boil. Once the sauce is boiling, add the sliced onions and spread them out. Cover to cook until tender (if you don’t cover, the sauce will evaporate, so make sure you cover the lid).

When the onion is tender, add the beef and cook until no longer pink. Skim the foam or fat with a fine mesh sieve.

Serve the meat and sauce over steamed rice.

Top with chopped green onion and pickled red ginger. If you like to add an egg, serve with Onsen Tamago. Alternatively, you can pour beaten egg over the meat when it’s almost finished cooking in the pan (see my other Gyudon recipe).

Pad Kra Pao is an extremely easy stir fry dish that will blow your mind with the flavor of basil.

Pad Kra Pao

beef

garlic

shallots

birds eye chilies

tbsp regular soy sauce

½ tbsp dark soy sauce

oyster sauce

fish sauce

sugar

Thai basil leaves

Peel Thai basil leaves, rinse them, dry with paper towel, and set aside for later.

Fine chop shallots, garlic, and chilies.

Heat up a wok over high heat with oil then add the chopped shallots, garlic, and chilies. Stir for 30 seconds.

Add lean ground beef. Continue to cook and break it apart until 80% cooked through. about 3-5 minutes.

Add soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Mix to combine.

Add your large handful of basil leaves, then stir for 1 minute. Serve on top of white rice and top with a crispy fried egg.

Bowls are incredibly versatile and functional. You can add and take away as many ingredients as you desire and change the face of your meal by simply changing a few ingredients. This recipe uses 5 ingredients and makes meal prep incredibly simple!

Loaded Mediterranean Beef Bowl Recipe

Trifecta beef patties, crumbled

⅓ cup Trifecta quinoa

hummus, any flavor, store-bought

deseeded,

cherry tomatoes, halved

Parsley leaves, fresh chopped dill, feta cheese, red pepper flake

Make the greek yogurt sauce by combining ingredients in a bowl. Season with salt and taste. Adjust as needed. Transfer to a squeeze bottle if you have one. It will make the plating that much prettier.

Slice cucumbers into half-moons by slicing cut lengthwise and scooping all seeds out with a spoon. Discard seeds. Slice into even half-moons and transfer to a bowl. You can use a mandolin to make this process faster if you have one. Mix Trifecta cherry tomatoes with the cucumbers in the same bowl.

Season cucumbers-tomato mix with a splash of lime juice, olive oil, and salt. Taste for seasoning and adjust as needed. Keep on the side until plating time.

Microwave the Trifecta beef patties covered completely by a wet paper cloth towel, for a minute and a half. After the patties are slightly cooled down, crumble the patties to its original form - ground beef - with your hands into a bowl. Keep warm.

Warm-up quinoa in the microwave. In four bowls plate ⅓ cup of quinoa, followed by 4 ounces ground beef, ½ cup seasoned cucumber-tomato mix on the side, 1 tablespoon of hummus on another side, and top with greek yogurt by making long zig zags with a squeeze bottle, or simply spooning 1 tablespoon in the middle of the bowl. Make it as pretty as you’d like!

Garnish with red pepper flakes, parsley leaves, or fresh dill.

I use bottled sweet chilli sauce for simplicity instead of fresh chilli, garlic, sugar and thickener, and it works a treat. Plus, it&#39;s more kid friendly because you can barely taste the spice.The key is the Sweet Chilli Drizzle Sauce! It adds flavor to the beef, rice, and veggies (raw or cooked). Jumble it all up and dig in!

Thai Sweet Chilli Beef Bowls

roasted cashews (, unsalted (or peanuts, Note 1))

tbsp canola oil (,

onion (, finely chopped)

garlic (, finely minced)

tbsp roughly chopped coriander/cilantro leaves ((sub green onion))

tbsp sweet chilli sauce ((I use Trident))

tbsp fish sauce ((Note 2))

tbsp rice vinegar ((sub cider vinegar))

tbsp oyster sauce ((Note 3))

tbsp dark soy sauce ((Note 3))

garlic garlic

tbsp sweet chilli sauce

tbsp lime juice

tsp fish sauce ((Note 2))

batches jasmine rice (or other plain rice of choice)

Mix each sauce. Toast cashews, sauté onion + garlic 1 min, then cook beef. Add sauce, cook until reduced/caramelised, serve over rice with veg on side. Spoon over drizzle sauce, top with cashews and coriander.

Abbreviated recipe

Drizzle sauce - Mix the ingredients in a bowl, set aside.

Stir fry sauce - Mix the ingredients in a separate bowl, set aside.

Toast cashews - Heat a large non-stick pan over medium high heat. Add the cashews and toast for 2 minutes. Transfer to a cutting board then roughly chop once cool.

Cook beef - Heat the oil in the same pan over high heat. Add the garlic and onion, cook for 1 minute. Add the beef and cook, breaking it up as you go, until you no longer see raw meat.

Sauce it! Add the cooking sauce and cook well, stirring, until it mostly reduces down so the sauce caramelises on the beef, about 3 - 4 minutes. (Don&#39;t shortcut this step, it&#39;s where the flavour is!)

Serve the beef over rice with a side of veg. Douse everything with the sauce, top with cashews and coriander (fresh chilli wouldn&#39;t go astray either). To eat, jumble everything up then dig in!

Great summer recipe - the coriander and cucumber really   + drizzle sauce really makes the whole thing shine!

This is so delicious, and easy.  We only had to buy the ground beef and oyster sauce; had everything else on hand.  Served it over some cooked brown rice I had on hand, sautéed with red onion &amp; mushrooms.  Stirred in some frozen green peas for more veg.  Made the quick pickled carrots from this site for serving, along with some finely shredded cabbage.  This is a nice change from what one would normally make with a pound of ground beef.

Love when I try a new meal and then can't stop thinking about it for several hours afterwards.  This was really tasty - even got through my post COVID loss of taste.  Next time will double the drizzle sauce though, there was almost fisticuffs for the last dregs in the bowl

Made this last night - very tasty. The only comment from the masses (in between all the lip-smacking sounds as they chowed down) was that slightly more drizzle sauce would have been nice. Note to self, increase the drizzle sauce quantity next time.

It's good, but has more salt, sugar and fat than I'm supposed to eat... It's a nice change from the usual asian sauce. Hah, Dozer doesn't discrimate between beef wellington and doo! He should bury doo, not eat it 🐈 (meooow).

High Protein Beef and Rice Bowl

cooked rice

olive oil

chili flakes

onion (diced)

garlic (minced)

kidney beans (drained and rinsed well)

tbsp sriracha

maple syrup

tamari

tsp sesame oil

red bell pepper (diced)

zucchini (diced)

fistful arugula (or spinach)

fistful cilantro (roughly chopped)

Cook rice according to the package.

In a large pan heat oil and chili flakes. Add onion and cook until translucent.

Add in ground beef. Use a hard sided spatula to break up beef into mall pieces. Once no pink remains, add minced garlic and season with salt and cracked pepper.

While beef is cooking, make the sauce. Add sriracha, maple syrup, tamari and sesame oil into a small bowl and whisk to combine.

Add kidney beans, zucchini, and red pepper to the beef mixture. Season with salt and cracked pepper. Cook until veggies start to soften.

Pour sauce into mixture and stir to coat.

Toss in arugula and cilantro and mix to combine. Check for seasoning.

Divide rice into bowls and top with beef mixture.
