Beef fried rice is definitely one of our favorite items on your average Chinese takeout menu. Find out how to make an easy &amp; better beef fried rice at home!

Classic Beef Fried Rice

flank steak ((285 grams, cut into bite-sized pieces))

salt

water

baking soda

soy sauce ((mushroom flavored preferred))

cornstarch

sugar

sesame oil

soy sauce

½ teaspoon MSG ((totally optional!))

white pepper

rice

canola oil ((divided))

eggs ((beaten))

onion

peas

scallion ((chopped))

Shaoxing wine

First, combine the beef, salt, water, baking soda, dark soy sauce, cornstarch, and oil in a bowl and stir until well-incorporated. Set aside. (We added a bit of water to marinate the beef, which generally is a no-no for beef...but for this fried rice dish, it keeps the small morsels of beef juicy and tender!)

Next, combine the hot water, sugar, sesame oil, soy sauces, MSG (if using), and white pepper in a small bowl. This is the sauce that you’ll be adding to the rice, and it’s much easier to have it combined and ready to go before you start cooking.

Take your cooked rice and fluff it with a fork or with your hands (you can rinse your hands in cold water if the rice starts sticking to them). If you are using cold leftover rice, try to break up the clumps as best as possible.

Heat your wok over medium high heat, add 1 tablespoon of oil and the eggs, and scramble them until just cooked. You can start scooping them up when they look like they are almost done. Transfer them back into the same bowl you mixed them in and set aside. They will continue to cook in the bowl and you will cook them again in the rice.

Heat the wok until just smoking and spread 1 tablespoon oil around your wok. Add the marinated beef in one layer, and let sear for 20 seconds. Next, stir fry the beef until about 70% done. Transfer the beef back to the marinade bowl, and set aside.

With the wok over medium high heat, add the last tablespoon of oil, and sauté the onions until translucent, about 2 minutes. Add the rice, using a metal spatula to flatten out and break up any large clumps. If the rice is cold from the refrigerator, continue stir-frying until the rice is warmed up, about 5 minutes. Also, sprinkling a little water on large clumps of rice will help break them up more easily.

Once the rice is warmed through, add the sauce mixture. Stir the rice with a scooping motion until the grains are evenly coated with sauce. The rice should be completely hot by now. Next, add the beef and any juices from the bowl you set aside earlier, and stir fry for another minute.

Add the eggs, breaking up any large clumps, peas, and the scallions. Continue stir-frying for another 30 seconds. Push the rice into the middle of the wok to let the perimeter of the wok heat up. After about 20 seconds, pour 1 tablespoon of Shaoxing wine around the perimeter of the wok. Stir-fry for another 20 seconds. Adding the wine using this method gives the dish a little extra wok hei! At this point, taste the rice to see if it needs a little more salt, soy sauce, or white pepper and season accordingly.

Serve immediately, and, if you’re like us, don’t forget some homemade chili oil!

Easy Beef Fried Rice

oil (divided)

eggs (whisked)

flank steak (cubed)

carrots (small dice)

broccoli

garlic (minced)

oyster sauce

sesame seeds for garnish (if desired)

Heat 1 tablespoon of oil into a large skillet.

Add the eggs and scramble until fully cooked. Remove them from the pan and set aside.

Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the pan.

Add the steak and cook over high heat for 2-3 minutes, just until seared and caramelized on the outside. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Add carrots and broccoli to the pan and cook until tender, 3-4 minutes.

Stir in garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Add in the cold rice and sauté for 3-4 minutes. The rice should brown up a bit.

Add the eggs and the steak back to the pan and stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce and sesame oil. Cook for 1-2 minutes to heat through.

Serve immediately with sesame seeds for garnish, if desired.

Ground Beef Fried Rice is a simple and super flavorful dinner made in 30 minutes! This mouthwatering meal will please the whole family, and it's freezer friendly!

Ground Beef Fried Rice

Tablespoons Vegetable Oil, (DIVIDED)

Pound Ground Beef

Cloves Garlic, (Chopped)

Yellow Onion, (Chopped)

Cup Frozen Peas

Cup Frozen Corn

Cup Frozen Carrots

Teaspoon Powdered Ginger

Salt & Pepper, (To Taste)

Large Eggs, (Beaten)

Cups Cooked Rice

Cup Low Sodium Soy Sauce

Tablespoon Sesame Oil

Green Onions, (Sliced)

Heat 1 Tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the ground beef, garlic, onion, peas, corn, carrots, ginger, and salt and pepper to taste.

Cook, breaking the meat up as you go for 6-8 minutes, until the beef is 160 degrees F.

Drain the meat well and transfer to a plate.

Return the skillet to the heat and add another 1 Tablespoon of oil.

Add the beaten eggs, cooking and stirring occasionally until scrambled.

Push the eggs to the side of the pan and add in the rice and ground beef.

Drizzle evenly with soy sauce and sesame oil and stir, cooking for 2 more minutes.

Remove the pan from the heat and top with green onions as desired.

TO FREEZE:  Allow the beef fried rice to cool completely in the refrigerator.  Transfer to a freezer safe, zip-top plastic bag.  Store in the freezer for 3 to 4 months.

TO REHEAT:  Allow the frozen fried rice to thaw in the refrigerator overnight, add 1 Tablespoon of vegetable oil to a large skillet on medium-high heat.  Add the ground beef fried rice and cook, stirring occasionally until you reach 160 degrees F as measured with a food thermometer.

The BEST Fried Rice. This fried rice is loaded with veggies and only takes 20 minutes to make!

The BEST Fried Rice

Heat 1 tablespoon of butter into a large skillet.

Add the remaining tablespoon of butter into the pan. Add carrots and onion to the pan and cook until tender, 3-4 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Add in the cold rice and peas and sauté for 3-4 minutes. The rice should brown up a bit.

Add the eggs back to the pan and stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce and sesame oil. Cook for 1-2 minutes to heat through.

Serve immediately with green onions for garnish, if desired.

An easy and delicious family favorite, this Beef Fried Rice is tasty, quick and can be either a main dish or side!

Beef Fried Rice

vegetable oil

sirloin steak

frozen peas and carrots

eggs (lightly beaten)

green onions, for garnish, (optional)

In a small bowl, make the sauce. Stir together the dark soy, soy, oyster sauce, and sesame oil, set aside.

In a large skillet over medium-high heat add 1/4 of the vegetable oil to the pan and add the beef, sear the steak, getting a char on it, cooking it until just done, 3-5 minutes. Place the beef on a plate and set aside.

Add ¼ of the vegetable oil to the skillet and saute the onion until softened and starting to brown, 2 minutes. Next, add the peas and carrots, until slightly softened for 3 minutes. Then add the cooked veggies to the plate with the beef.

Add ¼ more of the vegetable oil to the pan and scramble the egg, stirring occasionally until cooked, about 1 minute. Set aside on the plate with the beef and veggies.

Next, add the remaining vegetable oil to the pan and add the rice. Let it sit for about 2 minutes to get a slight char, stir it around.

Add the cooked beef, veggies, and egg back to the pan, stir to combine.

Lastly, add the sauce and stir to coat everything. Continue to cook for about 3 more minutes so everything warms through and the flavors can blend.

Serve immediately with a garnish of sliced green onions (optional).

Simple quick Chinese beef fried rice recipe that you can whip up everything in 15 minutes! Made with juicy tender beef mince, colourful crisp vegetables, and classic Chinese stir fry sauces. Customize the protein and veggies and make it your own-style fried rice with this easy recipe.

Beef mince (About 7 ounces,

White pepper

Garlic (Finely chopped)

tsp Ginger paste (Or finely grated ginger)

Carrot (Cut small cubes)

Frozen green peas (About ⅔ cup)

½ Onion (Cut small cubes)

tbsp Light soy sauce (Or all purpose soy sauce)

tbsp Oyster sauce (Or vegetarian stir fry sauce)

Sugar

tsp Dark soy sauce

Sesame oil (Toasted sesame oil)

Shao Xing wine (Chinese cooking rice wine

White pepper (Or black pepper)

First, combine all the stir fry sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Gather and prepare all the vegetables.

Season the beef with a tablespoon of the stir fry sauce mixture, white pepper, and grated ginger. Mix it well and set it aside.

Over medium-high heat and stir fry the eggs and break them into small pieces. Then remove from heat and set it aside.

Add more oil in the same pan and sauté the onions. Follow with the garlic, and white part of spring onions and stir it for a few seconds.

Add the marinated beef mince, flatten the beef at the bottom of the wok and let it sear for 1-2 minutes. Then flip and continue stir fry the beef with high heat, until cooked through and no longer pink. Add the carrots and follow with green peas and cook until the vegetables are crisp-tender.

Next, add the cooked rice and pour the sauce mixture in. Combine well and continue to stir fry with high heat for 1-2 minutes or until everything is cooked through.

Turn off the heat and add scrambled eggs and green part of spring onions. Toss everything well.

Transfer to a serving plate, garnish with chopped spring onions, and serve immediately! Enjoy!

Steak Fried Rice

lbs sirloin steak

tbsp oyster (flavored) sauce

tsp sesame oil

garlic

tsp white or black pepper

jasmine rice

mixed vegetables (peas, corn, carrots)

scallions (sliced)

Prepare

Prepare sauce by combining oyster (flavor) sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, and white or black pepper in a small bowl.

Cube

Cube steak into 1-inch cubes. Add half of the sauce prepared to steak cubes, and save the other half for later. Mixed sauce with steak. Set aside and marinate for ~30 minutes.

Prep

Mince garlic and dice onion. Fluff cooked rice to remove clumps. Set all ingredients needed for stir fry by stove - egg, mixed vegetables, rice, garlic, onion, marinated steak, and sauce.

Stir fry

Add vegetable oil to wok or skillet and heat on high heat. When wok/skillet is heated, add steaks to wok/skillet and cook for 2-4 minutes, or to desired doneness. Avoid over-cooking. Remove and set aside.

Add vegetable oil to wok/skillet again and heat on high heat. When wok/skillet is heated, add minced garlic and onion, stir continuously, cook for 30-60 seconds or until onions turn slightly golden brown. Add rice to wok, stir continuously, cook for 1-2 minutes. Add mixed vegetables, stir, cook for 1 minute. Add sauce that you set side earlier and the rest of the steak, stir and cook for another minute. 

Cook

Push fried rice to one side of the wok, and crack an egg directly to the wok/skillet (where there is no fried rice). Break the yolk and mesh up egg using turner/spatula. Then cover the slightly raw egg with the fried rice (pile the rice on top of the still-runny egg). Let it sit for a few seconds, then stir to combine egg with rice. Cook for a minute.

Garnish

Remove fried rice from heat. Garnish with scallions (if desire).

Serve

500 g Microwave rice ((x2 packs))

Frozen peas

tbsp Dark soy sauce

Spring onions (scallions) (Sliced)

Heat your oil in a heavy-bottomed frying pan or wok over a medium heat.

Add the beef mince and cook over a high heat for 5-10 minutes until browned all over.

Add the onion, garlic, fresh ginger, peppers and Chinese 5 spice and cook, stirring often, for a further 5 minutes or until the onion is starting to soften.

Meanwhile, make up the sauce with all of the ingredients.

Add the rice (you&#39;ll need to use a spoon or clean hands to crumble it as sometimes there are chunks stuck together in microwave pouches).

Add the peas, pour over the sauce and cook for 5-10 minutes until everything is hot through.

Cumin Beef Fried Rice

500 g ground beef ((or ground lamb))

whole cumin seeds ((see notes))

garlic ((4 cloves, finely minced or grated))

ginger ((grated

rice ((cold, preferably a day old))

green onion ((finely chopped))

sumac ((optional, see notes))

Crack 2 eggs into a small bowl and scramble it. Set it aside for later

Finely grate 1 tablespoon ginger, and finely mince 1.5 tablespoons garlic and set it aside for later.

Using your hands, separate the leftover rice into small pieces and set it aside for later.

Cut the root tips off the green onions and finely chop it (including the whites of the green onion). Set aside for later.

Preparation

Add a bit of oil to a frying pan, and set it to medium heat and wait for the oil to get hot.

Add in 1 tablespoon whole cumin seeds and toast it for 15-30 seconds. Watch it carefully to make sure it doesn&#39;t burn!

Add in the ground beef. Break up the meat into tiny pieces and cook for about 5 minutes or until the water in the ground beef evaporates away.

Add in 3/4 teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon ginger, 1.5 tablespoons garlic and, 3 tablespoons  soy sauce, and cook the beef for another 2 mins

Push the ground beef to the side of the frying pan. Add eggs into the pan and let it cook for a few seconds until the egg is about 50% cooked.

Add in the rice and mix the beef, egg, and rice together and cook for about 10 minutes.Keep the rice moving to fully cook the eggs.

Turn off the heat, and add the green onions and enjoy!

Making the Beef Fried Rice

Try 0.5 tsp lime juice if you don't have sumac lying around and want the tartness :-)

Cumin is my latest spice I have been experimenting with and so loved to find this recipe. As an aside, cumin in guac or as an addition to rice pilaf... mmm.  I added red pepper flakes for spice, the lime someone suggested and used that aforementioned cumin rice pilaf leftover.  A quick, easy delicious meal that will be a staple.  One suggestion... cooking times are way too long even allowing that I had halved the total ingredients.

Hi Joyce, I did so many fried rice in different cooking ways, but I have never tried to add cumin as 1 of the ingredients into cooking with fried rice.  So, I have done to follow your exact receipe, slightly fried green onions to get its aroma. Amazingly, everyone from my family loves it .🙂👍.  Thamk you for your new innovation in cookings.
