Dry ingredients:

all purpose flour

yellow cornmeal

baking powder

salt

Wet ingredients:

eggs,

maple syrup

plain yogurt (a whole milk greek yogurt works great!)

milk

butter

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Grease a 9x9 inch pan or 9 inch skillet or 9 inch cake pan with nonstick cooking spray or butter.

In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, cornmeal, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

In a separate large bowl, mix together the wet ingredients: eggs, maple syrup/honey, yogurt and milk. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir with a spoon until it just begins to combine, then stir in the melted butter until just combined. Do not overmix the batter.

Bake for 18-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean or with just a few crumbs attached. Serve warm with a pat of butter and a drizzle of honey!

Well, I'm from the south, and I liked this corn bread.I think the addition of brown sugar and salt enhanced  the corn taste. I did not think it was sweet at all.  I made this for a cornbread stuffing recipe. I tried a piece right out of the oven. It's perfect for cornbread dressing recipe.

I am from the south too. I have eaten cornbread with and without sugar. I like both ways.  Like MrsOz  said, 1/4 cup of brown sugar will enhance the flavor of the corn (so does dehydrated onions but you get the onion flavor).. Anyway, I think the sugar is just enough to also affect the cornbread crust just a tad and it's wonderful. The next time I make chili, I am gonna make cornbread using your recipe. It is exceptional on top of pot pie as a crust as its not too sweet and is not super flavorful!! but on its own it is bland

Cheesy Cornbread is loaded with jalapenos, sour cream, and cheese and is topped with a homemade honey butter.

Cheesy Cornbread

cornbread mix ((I used Marie Callenders))

sour cream

water

onions (chopped)

jalapenos chilies

cheddar cheese (shredded)

honey

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray an 8x8 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.

In a large bowl, add cornbread mix.

Using a small bowl, stir sour cream, water, egg, onions, and jalapenos together until combined.

Pour sour cream mixture into large bowl with cornbread mix. Stir to combine.

Add 1 ⅔ cup of cheese into mixture. Stir.

Spoon batter into prepared baking dish.

Top with remaining cheese.

This creamy Cornbread Casserole is a sweet and savory side dish that you won't be able to resist! It's super easy to make and perfect for the holidays.

Cornbread Casserole

(230 grams) sour cream

(112 grams) unsalted butter, melted

tbsp (26 grams) sugar

tsp salt

cornbread mix (I use Jiffy)

corn

creamed corn

Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Spray a 9-inch square baking dish with nonstick spray. Set aside.

In a large bowl, combine the eggs, sour cream, butter, sugar and salt and whisk until well combined. 

Add the cornbread mix, whole corn kernels and creamed corn and stir together until combined. 

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and bake for 55-60 minutes, or until the top and edges are lightly brown. If it seems a little jiggly in the middle, that&#8217;s fine.

It was the easiest dish I have ever made.  Delicious is the only word to describe it. I am a made from scratch cook who don't usually try semi home made dishes. This is a winner to remaine in my holiday recipe file.

I’ve used this recipe now 2 years, and love it. The whole family and anyone that has come over as well that ate this. 
I did make 1 mistake I have one pan that is weird. It says it’s 9x13 but it’s a bit bigger I think.  It dried that one out a bit. I’m assuming cooking time. I had sharp cheese to mine. Not a lot just enough to swirl in and get that taste. 

I love cornbread casserole!! My cousin brings it every year to our family Christmas 🎄. My kids also love it. So I figured I'd look up the recipe and make it for Christmas dinner..I only have the whole kernel corn (sweet)..I didn't know that i.was going to need cream corn too. So I'm going to have to try adding a little extra to each of the other ingredients and hopefully it will help keep my casserole moist. This was absolutely delicious.  I picked this recipe from many to add to our Christmas dinner, as it goes so well with ham.  So glad I did!!  It was a hit. I only had 8 x 8 pans so I baked on 325 for a bit longer and it came out just perfect.

This Cornbread recipe is homey, delicious, and full of wholesome cornmeal flavor with an irresistible crusty edge.  Bake it in a skillet or baking dish and it's ready in just 35 minutes! Perfect for serving with soups, chili's, stews. Vegan-Adaptable (see recipe notes!). 

Perfect Cornbread Recipe

unsalted butter

grind cornmeal (or fine grind)

sea salt

buttermilk (or sub yogurt, or milk- see notes)

Place a  9-10&#8243; cast iron skillet in the oven. (If you don&#8217;t have a cast-iron skillet a round cake pan will do or an 8&#215;8 baking dish.

Whisk together cornmeal, flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

After at least 8 minutes remove the skillet from oven and put the butter in the hot skillet, stir around until it melts.  Pour melted butter into a medium bowl, leaving the skillet buttered and warm.  This makes a nice crust on your cornbread.

Along with the melted butter, whisk in honey, buttermilk and eggs.  Fully mix.

Pour flour mixture into the wet ingredients and gently mix until just combined.

Pour into the buttered skillet, spreading out evenly.

Bake at 400 for 20-25 minutes.  The cornbread is done when the edges begin to pull away from the side of the pan and the center is slightly puffed up.

Quick, simple, easy, delish. LOVE the perfectly toasted crust!

I thought this was delicious, but it was quite cumbly. I will make it again but I will add another egg to mixture to bind it together better.

I have made this twice now in the last few weeks!! I made a combination of the regular recipe with eggs but used olive oil instead of butter. It turns out amazingly every time! Wonderful recipe!  Cornbread was a staple of Angelika's, an early vegetarian restaurant in NYC.  It was one of my husband's favorite dishes there. Sweet Southern Cornbread Recipe

+ 1 Tablespoon salted butter (divided; additional for serving)

Prep

Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9-inch baking dish liberally with 1 tablespoon of the butter on bottom and up the sides. I&#39;m using a pie plate, but you can also use a 9-inch casserole dish. Set aside.

Melt

Melt the remaining 1/2 cup butter slowly in saucepan. You do not want the butter to brown, only to foam, so medium heat is enough. Once butter is melted, remove from heat and stir in sugar and the beaten eggs and whisk quickly until well blended.

Combine the buttermilk with baking soda and stir into mixture, followed by cornmeal, flour, and salt. Mix until well blended and smooth out any lumps. Pour batter into the prepared baking dish.

Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Serve

Cut while the bread is still hot. Serve with additional salted butter, and a healthy drizzle of raw honey. It&#39;s the bees&#39; knees.

You said 1/2tsp salt.is that like Mortons salt or Kosher salt which you said are not the same.I understand that but which salt should I use.Can't wait to make it.
