Cut the fish into 4 chunky fingers. Put the flour in a bowl with some seasoning, put the egg in another bowl, and the breadcrumbs and sesame seeds in a third. Dust the fish fingers in flour, then dip in egg and, finally, coat in breadcrumbs. Chill for 10 mins, if you have time.

Heat a drizzle of oil in a frying pan and cook the fish fingers for 3-4 mins each side until golden and cooked through, adding a drizzle more oil if the pan looks too dry.

Meanwhile, stone, peel and slice the avocado, squeeze over a little of the lime juice to prevent it from turning brown, then mix the remaining lime juice and coriander into the mayonnaise.

To serve, spread a little mayo over the base of each bun, top with 2 fish fingers, a few slices of avocado and the bun lid. Serve the remaining mayo on the side.

Pan-Fried Tilapia

c. all-purpose flour

garlic powder

(6-oz.) tilapia filets

Kosher salt

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and cumin. Whisk to combine.

Season tilapia filets generously with salt and pepper, then dip each in flour mixture, shaking off any excess flour. Place on a clean plate or baking sheet.

In a large, nonstick skillet over medium heat, heat oil. Add 2 filets and cook 3 to 4 minutes per side, until crust is golden and fish flakes easily with a fork. Repeat with remaining filets.

Serve immediately with cilantro and lime wedges.

Great recipe, definitely up the spices. I also used a little but of Colombian corn flour for the crust. I also made a white wine, olive oil and garlic sauce to fry the fish rather than just the oil. I served with yellow squash and white rice.

Best way to make Talapia taste great. I used lots of Tajin Clasico with lime seasoning.  Nice and crunchy and  lots of flavor..  i used Kirkland frozen Talapia and thawed before cooking.

Great result! This was simple and wonderful flavor.  I halfed the recipe for two large filets, and there was enough to do a couple more.  I liked the flavor, but I’m willing to half the flour and keep seasoning the same for a full batch.  Nice texture.

Turned out really good. I’ve pan fried every fish but tilapia and I was pleasantly surprised! My son loved it!

Loved the fish!  I fried the 2 pounds of fresh tilapia in Sciabica’s lemon olive oil and regular olive oil.  My husband said it was very good, so we’ll be eating this again.

Prep: Preheat oven to 430°F (220°C). Put a dark-colored roaster OR baking sheet in the oven to heat up - the pan you use to bake the fish on needs to be hot to melt butter on!

Make breading: Mix all ingredients for dry breading in a shallow dish.

Prep eggs: Add eggs to a SEPARATE bowl and beat well.

Bread fish: Dip fish into breading to lightly coat. THEN coat fish with egg. FINALLY, coat fish with breading again, this time you can really pack on as much as will stick! (Just place breaded fish pieces on a plate until you&#039;ve breaded them all.)

Melt butter: Remove pan from oven - careful, it&#039;s hot! Add 3 tablespoons of butter to pan to melt. Spread all over pan and put fish pieces on.

Bake: Bake fish for 10 minutes. Flip, add remaining 1 tablespoon of butter and finish baking for 5-10 minutes or until coating is crispy and fish is cooked through. Finish under the broiler for 2-3 minutes.

Finish: Let fish pieces rest on the pan for 5 minutes after baking, then serve immediately.
