Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

Cut the broccoli florets from the thick stalks, leaving an inch or two of stalk attached to the florets, discarding the rest of the stalks. Cut the larger pieces through the base of the head with a small knife, pulling the florets apart.&nbsp;You should have about 8 cups of florets.

Place the broccoli florets on a sheet pan large enough to hold them in a single layer. Toss the garlic on the broccoli and drizzle with 5 tablespoons olive oil. Sprinkle with the salt and pepper.

Roast for 20 to 25 minutes, until crisp-tender and the tips of some of the florets are browned.

Remove the broccoli from the oven and immediately toss with 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil, the lemon zest, lemon juice, and Parmesan.&nbsp;&nbsp;Serve hot.

This is the best oven-roasted broccoli recipe! This easy roasted broccoli is made with 6 ingredients in 15 minutes! It&#x27;s crispy, tender and perfectly seasoned! Baked broccoli is a healthy side dish that pairs well with everything!

Oven Roasted Broccoli (Baked Broccoli)

olive oil

garlic powder

sea salt

paprika

tsp black pepper

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

Grease a large baking sheet, set aside.

In a small bowl mix together garlic powder, sea salt, paprika and black pepper. Set aside.

Place broccoli pieces in a large bowl, drizzle with olive oil and stir until evenly coated.

Sprinkle half of the spice mixture over the broccoli, stir and repeat with the second half and stir until evenly distributed.

Spread seasoned broccoli evenly on the prepared baking sheet.

Roast at 450 degrees for 14- 15 minutes, or until the broccoli is nicely roasted, stirring once halfway through. (Note: the size you cut the florets into will effect the baking time (smaller florets = shorter bake time, larger florets = longer bake time). So keep that in mind)!

If necessary, broil the broccoli for 1-2 minutes at the end of roasting time to crisp it up (I find this is only necessary if using frozen broccoli).

Remove from oven and serve immediately.

This baked egg recipe, with purple sprouting broccoli and parmesan, is best served with a thick slice of garlic butter toast.

Baked broccoli and parmesan eggs

Heat the oven to 220°C/fan200°C/gas 7. Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan, then gently fry the onion for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, blanch the broccoli in salted boiling water for 3 minutes. Drain well, add to the pan, then turn up the heat and fry for 3-4 minutes, stirring, until slightly coloured. Stir in a grating of parmesan and season well.

Divide the veg among 4 x 250ml ramekins or 4 x small pans. Crack the 2 eggs into each ramekin/pan and season. Divide the cream between the 4 ramekins/pans, then grate over more parmesan. Put the ramekins/pans on a baking tray and bake for 6-8 minutes until the whites are cooked.

Serve the baked broccoli and parmesan eggs with slices of garlic butter toast, if you like.

Orecchiette Pasta with Broccoli Sauce - a simple vegetarian pasta dish hailing from Tuscany that is easy to make, healthy and oh so delicious!

Orecchiette Pasta with Broccoli Sauce 

broccoli florets-

short pasta- orecchiette pasta, penne, rigatoni, etc

shallot,

garlic cloves- rough chopped

chili flakes

salt and pepper, more to taste

miso paste (or sub 1-2 mashed anchovies)

veggie broth or chicken broth

lemon zest

Steam small broccoli florets until very tender (easily pierced with a fork)and set aside.

Cook the pasta in 8 cups water with 1 tablespoon salt (measure),  Save a cup of hot pasta water when you drain.

In a large pan, saute the shallot and garlic and chili flakes in the olive oil, over medium heat until fragrant and golden, about 3 minutes.  Stir in the miso paste (or anchovy), then add steamed broccoli,  salt, pepper and the broth.

Bring to a gentle simmer and start breaking apart the broccoli with a metal spatula into tiny pieces. As it cooks it will get easier to break apart. You want the broccoli to basically melt down into a &#8220;sauce&#8221;.  Continue simmering gently on low heat until half of the liquid evaporates and it becomes the consistency of a thick sauce, about 10-15 minutes.

If it seems watery and separated, just keep cooking it down. It won&#8217;t be smooth- but just broken down and very very tender.

Add the pasta. Toss well. Add more hot pasta water to keep it &#8221; saucy.&#8221; Add the lemon zest.

Taste for salt, adjust, adding more along with pepper, chili flakes. If you want more richness add another splash of olive oil (or pat of butter- my husband loves this). Stir in some optional pecorino.

Divide among pasta bowls and top with any of the garnishes you like. Grated Parmesan or pecorino  adds depth,basil ribbons add flavor, and a drizzle of truffle oil elevates.

My wife and I have been making this recipe once a week for the last year. 

Slight alterations: we steam the broccoli in a pressure cooker, and add a little extra garlic and chili.

I see some people complaining in the comments about losing the vibrant green color. A simple solution is to add a quarter teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate to the steaming water. And there you have it. Emerald green broccoli!

Easy and delicious.  I added all optional ingredients except truffle oil and anchovie paste, and only pecorino cheese, however to me something was missing, I added organic fire roasted diced tomatoes and voila perfecto! Will be having once a week from now on,  thank you!

Thank you, finally someone who has recipes for us who are trying to eat more plant based meals. So many of the Vegetarian recipes are to over board with items that the rest of us are not familiar with and we don't want to spend a lot of money buying if we aren't going to like it. Additionally someone who posts the nutritional values, with so many people on diets I think that it is adding to the problem because many people have no ideal how many calories are in a recipe. I saw a recipe the other day that looked healthy and sounded good but it had over 800 calories in a serving and this wasn't a Keto recipes. Love your site

Turned out really well.  I added ground pork to it and a little whole milk at the end to make it creamy.  Great way to "bury" some broccoli in dinner.  It is impossible to pick it out!.  My 11 year-old son loved it.

A simple delicious vegetarian recipe for Orecchiette Pasta with Broccoli Sauce – full of flavor and nutrients! 

Oven Roasted Frozen Broccoli florets is the fastest, easiest side dish that can go with just about any dinner!

Oven Roasted Frozen Broccoli

lb. frozen broccoli florets (1.00)

olive oil (0.16)

Tbsp Montreal steak seasoning (0.07)

Preheat the oven to 400ºF. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the frozen florets out over the baking sheet (no need to thaw).

Drizzle the olive oil over the florets, then sprinkle the Montreal steak seasoning over top. Toss the florets in the oil and seasoning until everything is evenly distributed (it's okay if a lot of it falls onto the baking sheet, it will be stirred and redistributed again later).

Transfer the baking sheet to the oven and roast for 20 minutes. Take the baking sheet out and use a spatula to stir the broccoli and redistribute the oil and spices. Return the baking sheet to the oven and roast for another 10 minutes, or until the broccoli develops the amount of brownness desired. Serve hot.

Chop the broccoli into medium sized florets (leave a good amount of the stem for a nice shape; see the photo or How to Cut Broccoli).

Add the olive oil to a large skillet and heat it on medium high heat. Add broccoli and salt. Cook 3 to 4 minutes until starting to brown, stirring occasionally. 

Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the broccoli, followed by the cheddar cheese. Add 1/4 cup water to the bottom of the skillet and cover with a lid. Cook another 1 minute until cheese is melted and the water cooks out. Serve immediately!

Great dish for parties and cookouts!!  I make this on a regular basis....but I use raw broccoli instead of cooking it - gives it extra crunch.  I usually use dry roasted peanuts but will definitely try it with almonds. I also add a bit of sugar to the dressing to reduce the tartness from the vinegar. And the family loves extra bacon in the salad....of course.

This is recipe is delish. I just wish they would of included how many calories, the carbs, and fat breakdown.  It such a welcome addition. My dear is the unknown..

Really delicious! I doubled the recipe and tweaked slightly by using lower sugar craisins, uncured bacon and I chopped up some almonds and walnuts. (I don’t care for sliced).                                                                            I personally like Apple cider vinegar...so I loved the dressing with the full 3 tbsp. Everyone liked this salad so much I was asked to make it for Thanksgiving.

This was great. I followed someone else’s advice and went easy on the ACV, not quite 3 tbsp. This was delicious!

If we need to replace bacon what diversity would we add instead

This was exactly what I was looking for! Delicious! I'd recommend giving it an hour in the fridge to meld flavors but I tried some as soon as it was mixed and it was awesome. I left the almonds out because I'm cheap and thought I could slice them myself, nigh impossible. It's good without them, would have been great texture with them.

It was delicious , I used raisins instead of cranberries although next time I would use a little less Apple Cider Vinegar. But it was amazing. Also I didn't have any almonds but somehow it still had a nutty flavor I'm guessing from the mixture of ingredients.  Yum.

This is one of my husband's all time favorites now! We make it about twice a month and finish it with home made pesto. The red pepper flakes gives it a nice kick and the miso adds depth. It's great leftover too!

Wow!   Such a great recipe to use broccoli as a pasta sauce.  So healthy and I noted some comments that after cooking the steamed broccoli in the sauce to break it up the bright green color was diminished.  I added a “pop” of green of a cup of frozen peas to the sauce for about a minute to upped the green theme.

Delicious, nutritious, and easy to make! Made for great leftovers, too!

I ran across this recipe while searching ramdomly for something vegetarian to cook a few days ago.  After making sure I had all the ingredients, I made it last night.  It was absolutely delicious, worthy of 5 stars.  I had to adapt the recipe to accomodate a low-FODMAP diet, so I cut out the fresh garlic and shallot and used a garlic-infused olive oil instead. I opted for anchovies (I fudged a little bit here), toasted pine nuts, Kalamata olives, and added small cocktail tomatoes because we love tomatoes.  I added a dry cheese I had on hand and the whole dish was PERFECT!  I also copied a few Mexican recipes from this site this morning,  I'll let you know how it goes.

Really Quick Broccoli Pasta

/ 12 oz dried short pasta ((I used small shells))

shredded cheese (or more!)

lemon juice ((or more!))

tbsp extra virgin olive oil

parmesan (, finely grated)

garlic (, minced)

tsp mixed dried herbs ((or fresh!))

tsp+ red pepper flakes ((add more if you want spicy!))

tsp sugar

tsp pepper

Cook pasta: Boil a large pot of water with 2 tsp salt, add pasta.

Chop broccoli: Chop broccoli into small florets.

Cook broccoli: Add broccoli into water 1 - 2 minutes before pasta is cooked.

Sauce ingredients in jar: Place Sauce ingredients in a jar with lid.

Reserve pasta water: SCOOP OUT 1 cup pasta cooking water just before draining. Then drain and return pasta back into same pot on turned off stove.

Add pasta water into Sauce: Add 1/2 cup pasta water to Pasta Sauce jar, shake well.

Add Sauce &amp; Cheese to pasta: Pour Sauce and add cheese into pot with pasta.

Stir then serve! Stir vigorously, adding more pasta water if required. Add more salt and pepper if required. Serve immediately, garnished with parmesan.
