Homemade Waffles Recipe

all-purpose flour

baking powder

sugar

salt

almond milk

canola oil

eggs

vanilla extract

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar and coarse salt.

Add milk, canola oil, eggs and vanilla extract &#8211; one ingredient at a time &#8211; whisking until smooth.

Prepare waffles according to waffle maker directions, using about 1/2 cup of batter for each waffle.*

This recipe is really good!  The waffles are nice ans fluffy inside and crispy on the outside.  The taste is very nice too.  Definitely a keeper!

Hum, I replaced the 6 Tbsp of  canola oil with extra light olive oil and they came out great. To each their own I guess.

We inherited an under-used waffle iron from my parents recently and I couldn't wait to bust it out for my son and his cousins who are visiting over the holidays. Trying to please two picky 7 yo and one picky 4 yo had me as nervous as a groom at the altar, but with this recipe I absolutely nailed it! The recipe performed perfectly and all the tips helped me through my jitters. The texture was light and airy inside and the outside browned perfectly with just the right amount of crunch. I think we got about 10 waffles out of the recipe which was enough to freeze for another breakfast. I'm no expert but the vanilla seemed a little light to me, though it could have been because the vanilla was a bit long in the tooth. Well done!

Excellent recipe, we used soy milk and didn't have any eggs so made a substitute using coconut oil, baking powder and water, they were absolutely delicious. My son says they are delicious. Thank you !!! Kelly and Hiero

Dairy Free Waffles

maple syrup

Preheat waffle iron. Grease.

Preheat your waffle iron and spray it thoroughly with non-stick cooking spray.

Combine dry ingredients.

In a large bowl, stir together the flour, ground flaxseed, coconut sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt.

Add wet ingredients. Whisk.

Add the plant milk, applesauce, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth and well-combined.

Add batter to waffle iron. Cook.

Add about 1/3 cup to 1/2 cup batter to the waffle iron (adjust depending on your specific iron). Cook about 3-5 minutes, or as instructed by your waffle iron&#39;s manufacturer directions. The waffles should be golden brown when done.

Remove from heat and add toppings.

Remove the waffles from the heat and top with fresh berries, banana slices, maple syrup, chopped nuts, or your preferred toppings.

Store leftovers in fridge.

Store leftover waffles in an airtight container in the fridge for 5-7 days.

Dairy-Free Waffles with Almond Milk

sugar ((or 3 packets Stevia))

baking powder ((See notes.))

cooking oil ((canola or vegetable oil))

almond extract

Preheat your waffle iron on the medium-high setting or according to your preference.

Add the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt to a medium mixing bowl. Whisk to combine.

Crack the eggs into a liquid measuring cup and beat them with a whisk before adding them to your mixing bowl.

Use the liquid measuring cup for the almond milk and oil and add them to your mixing bowl. Add the almond extract to the bowl and whisk everything just until blended.

Follow the directions for your waffle iron regarding how much batter to scoop onto the iron. (My waffle iron takes two cups of batter at a time, which is half of the batter made in this recipe.) Scoop the appropriate amount of batter into the center of your waffle iron and spread the batter evenly with the back of a spoon, making sure to fill the corners. Close the iron and let the waffles cook until the waffle iron beeps, gives a green light, or whatever yours does to indicate the waffles are done.

Carefully remove the cooked waffles with two forks and set them on a dish or platter. Continue cooking the rest of the batter (according to your waffle iron's instructions).

Serve the waffles with butter (use dairy-free if needed), maple syrup and berries, if you wish.

Refrigerate leftover waffles for up to four days. Or, you can freeze waffles in freezer bags for up to three months. To reheat, toast them and then pop them into the microwave for another 10 seconds or so if needed. (Or, you can store extra batter in the refrigerator for two days.)
