The Ultimate Easy BBQ Baked Beans

olive oil

onion

Italian sausage

red bell pepper (cored, seeded, and finely chopped)

yellow bell pepper (cored, seeded, and finely chopped)

pork and beans (16 ounces)

Bush's Original Baked Beans (24 ounces)

barbecue sauce

ketchup

Tbs whole grain or dijon mustard

Tbs spicy brown mustard

Worcestershire sauce

soy sauce

tsp chili powder

Tbs molasses

Tbs brown sugar

bacon (cooked until crispy)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray.

In a large heavy bottom Dutch Ovenadd 1 Tbs olive oil, and the onions, after 3-5 minutes add in Italian sausage.

Brown the Italian sausage, and when half done, add in the bell peppers.

Cook until sausage is fully browned, and veggies are soft.

Drain meat mixture.

Add the beans, barbecue sauce, ketchup, mustard, other mustard, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, chili powder, molasses and brown sugar to the sausage and onions and peppers.

Simmer mixture for 5 minutes.

Pour mixture into a baking dish.

Cook bacon until nice and crispy.

Sprinkle the bacon pieces over the top of the bean mixture.

Cover and cook for 40-45 minutes.

After 45 minutes, remove the foil and continue to bake for an additional 10 minutes.

Let sit for a few minutes, and then serve.

Southern Baked Beans Recipe

(16-ounce cans) navy beans

bacon (diced)

garlic (minced)

½ medium sweet onion (diced)

¼ cup unsulphured molasses

brown sugar

mustard

bacon (halved)

Preheat oven to 325º F.

Pour navy beans into medium stockpot.

In a medium skillet, add diced bacon, onion, and garlic. Cook until bacon is crisp and onion is tender. Remove from heat and add to navy beans.

Add Worcestershire sauce, molasses, brown sugar, ketchup, and yellow mustard. Stir to combine well. Pour into deep dish you plan to serve from or leave in stockpot. Top with bacon and sprinkle top with brown sugar.

Place in oven and bake 45 minutes. Increase temperature to 425º F for 10 minutes to crisp bacon. Remove from oven and allow to rest about 5 minutes before serving.

Add navy beans to a slow cooker.

Cook bacon, onion, and garlic in a medium skillet until the bacon is crisp and the onion and garlic are tender. Add to the navy beans in the slow cooker.

Add Worcestershire sauce, molasses, brown sugar, ketchup, and yellow mustard. Stir to combine well.

Cook on LOW setting for 6 to 7 hours or HIGH setting for 3 to 4 hours. If the baked beans are too thin, remove the lid to the slow cooker for the last 30 to 45 minutes of cook time until the beans have thickened to desired consistency. If too thick, stir in water a tablespoon at a time until it reaches the desired consistency. Top with optional baked bacon for serving.

GRANDMA’S BAKED BEANS

An easy baked beans recipe made with maple syrup and no bacon. They&#39;re the BEST baked beans from scratch. Healthy and ready in 30 minutes.

Easy Baked Beans

Great Northern Beans ((15-ounce cans))

maple syrup

tomato paste

Worcestershire sauce ((omit, adding extra salt to taste, to make vegetarian))

smoked paprika

dry mustard

cumin

salt

black pepper

extra virgin olive oil

Rinse

Whisk

In a small bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, ketchup, maple syrup, tomato paste, Worcestershire, paprika, mustard, cumin, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

Saute

Heat the olive oil in a small saucepan over medium-high. Once the oil is hot, add the onion and sauté until fragrant and soft, about 2 minutes.

Boil

Add the barbecue sauce mixture and bring to a boil. Add the drained beans.

Simmer

Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve warm.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Add bacon to a large pot. Turn heat to medium and cook, stirring often until crisp. Remove to a plate. Remove only some of the excess grease. Add onion to pan and sauté for 4 minutes. Add bell pepper and garlic and cook for 2 more minutes. Add remaining ingredients and bacon to stir to combine. Taste and add additional salt and pepper, if needed.

Pour mixture into a 9x13 baking pan and bake, covered with foil, for one hour (or up to 2 hours, if you want them thicker consistency). Uncover and bake for 10 more minutes. Allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving, for the sauce to thicken as it cools.

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 1 week.

In a 12-inch cast iron skillet over medium heat cook bacon until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon. Drain all but 2-3 tbsp of bacon grease.

Add onion, peppers, garlic, and jalapeno and cook for 4-5 minutes, until tender.

Add remaining ingredients except for 1 can of beans. Stir well. Then add in the last can and stir carefully. The pan will be very full.

Place cookie sheet or large piece of tin foil on the oven rack just underneath skillet, then carefully place skillet in the oven. Bake for 35-45 minutes, until thick and bubbly.

Bake for 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours. You want to ensure the bacon is fully cooked.
