Salty Caramel Rice Crispy Treats Recipe by Tasty

brown sugar

heavy cream

flaky sea salt, divided

mini marshmallows

Line a 9-inch (22 cm) square pan with 2 sheets of parchment paper and sprinkle the sugar over the bottom of the pan.

In a large nonstick pot, combine the butter, brown sugar, heavy cream, and 1½ teaspoons of flaky salt. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat, stirring until the mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a spatula.

Reduce the heat to low and add the mini marshmallows. Stir until the marshmallows are completely melted, then remove the pot from the heat.

Add the rice cereal to the pot and stir to combine. Let cool slightly.

Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and press into an even layer. Sprinkle the remaining ½ teaspoon of flaky salt on top.

Let set at room temperature for 1 hour, or in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Cut into 9 bars, then serve.

These spaghetti and meatball nests are the ultimate party snack. 

Spaghetti and Meatball Nests

spaghetti pasta

Nonstick cooking spray

Parmesan,

c. shredded mozzarella

store-bought cocktail-size meatballs

c. marinara sauce, warmed

Kosher salt

Cook pasta per package directions; drain and rinse.

Heat oven to 400°F. Coat 24-cup mini muffin pan with nonstick cooking spray.

In medium bowl, whisk together egg whites and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Toss with cooked spaghetti to coat, then fold in Parmesan and mozzarella. Place 1 heaping tablespoon pasta mixture in each cup of muffin pan. Press pasta down in center and up sides to create nest. Bake until golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes. Transfer nests to platter.

Heat meatballs per package directions, then toss in marinara sauce. Top each nest with 1 meatball and sprinkle with grated Parmesan, if desired.

These healthy sweetcorn and spinach fritters are packed with vitamin C from the veg, plus protein from the egg. They make great finger foods for baby-led weaning

Toddler recipe: Sweetcorn & spinach fritters

x small can no-salt sweetcorn, drained

baby spinach leaf

garlic clove, crushed

spring onion, chopped

plain flour

½ tsp baking powder

milk

tsp rapeseed oil,

Pulse all the ingredients except the oil in a food processor until fairly but not completely smooth.

Heat a little oil in a frying pan until hot and dollop four spoonfuls of the mixture into the pan leaving space around them. Fry for just under 1 min on each side until lightly golden. When you flip the fritter, flatten with a spatula to ensure even cooking the whole way through. Cook in three batches, placing the cooked fritters on a plate covered with kitchen roll. Serve warm.

You can freeze any fritters you don’t need. Lay them on a baking sheet, then once frozen, transfer to a freezer bag. Reheat the frozen fritters in the oven (180C/160fan/gas 4) for around 10 mins until piping hot. Allow to cool to lukewarm before serving.

This Meatball Sub on a Stick Recipe is a super fun spin on the classic cheesy meatball sandwich that everyone loves! They’re perfect for a quick meal or a unique appetizer. You’re going to love these cheesy stuffed meatballs. Not only is there cheese in them, I brush garlic butter on the sticks for added flavor and bake them again with more garlic butter and cheese for extra gooeyness. It’s a must try and I can guarantee kids of all ages (and adults of course) will have a blast with them!

Meatball Subs on a Stick

mozzarella cheese

tube store bought pizza dough

wooden skewers

Marinara sauce (for dipping)

lb beef

eggs (lightly beaten)

bread crumbs

Parmesan cheese (grated)

onion (shredded)

garlic (minced)

tsp salt

tsp chili flakes

oregano

basil

parsley

butter (melted)

garlic

Preheat oven to 375°F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Or, preheat Air Fryer to 375°F.

In large deep bowl combine all of the meatball ingredients. Mix until just evenly combined. Do not over mix or the meatballs’ with be tough and dense.

Shape into 36 meatballs and add one cube of mozzarella cheese into each. Roll the meatball firmly to seal the cheese in.

If using a tube of store bought pizza dough, unroll the dough and cut into 12 long strips. If using a ball of store bought pizza dough, roll the dough into a large rectangle and cut into 12 long strips.

Insert a skewer through one end of the dough strip and then through a meatball. Wrap the dough around the top of the meatball and slide onto skewer. Repeat this process with 2 more meatballs, ending the skewer with the end of the dough strip. Repeat with remaining dough and meatballs. Space dough and meatballs away from each other by about 1/4″.

Combine all of the garlic butter ingredients in a small bowl.

Place skewers on the baking sheet and brush with half of the garlic butter mixture. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until meatballs are cooked through and the dough is golden brown (or Air Fry for about 15 - 20 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through and the dough is golden brown).

Brush with remaining garlic butter, top with additional parmesan cheese.

Serve with marinara sauce. Enjoy!

Make these shepherd's pies for your toddler and see how they wolf them down. As well as lamb, they're packed with lentils, carrots, courgette and pepper

Toddler recipe: Mini shepherd’s pies

tbsp rapeseed oil

onion, chopped

garlic cloves, crushed

carrots,

celery,

yellow pepper, diced

cumin

lean lamb mince (10% fat)

courgette, diced

tomato purée

beef

lentils, thoroughly

1.2kg Maris Piper potatoes

butter

grated cheddar

Heat the oil in a medium saucepan, add the onion and cook for around 5 mins until softened. Stir in the garlic, carrots, celery, pepper and cumin. Cook for a further two mins, then add the lamb. Brown the meat, tipping off any excess fat. Add the courgette and tomato purée, then fry for a few mins more. Pour in the stock, add the lentils and bring to a simmer. Cook for 40 mins, stirring from time to time.

Heat the oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4. Boil the potatoes for 10-15 mins until tender. Drain, then mash with the butter and milk.

Remove the lamb mixture from the heat and use a stick blender to purée. Stir as you purée, blending down the pieces of vegetables. Spoon into 8 largish  individual ramekins. Top with the mash and grated cheese. The pie can now be chilled and frozen for up to a month.

Bake for 30 mins until the top is golden and the mince is bubbling up at the sides. (Cook from frozen at 160C/fan 140C/gas 3 for about 40 mins, then turn up to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4 for 20-30 mins or until golden on top and piping hot in the centre.) Leave to stand for at least 10 mins before serving. Check it has cooled down sufficiently in the centre before giving it to young children.

(250 gram) sheet pastry dough (homemade or store-bought), thawed

cups cheddar cheese, shredded

Divide the pastry dough sheet evenly into 6 pieces (approximately 3x6-inch rectangles). If you are using homemade pie dough, roll it into a 10x12-inch rectangle and slice into 6 even pieces.

Sprinkle 3 tablespoons cheese evenly on each piece of dough and place a hot dog on top. Gently roll up the dough tightly around the hot dog into a log and pinch the end edges to seal.
