onion powder

garlic powder

sea salt

vegetable oil (more or less for frying)

oyster mushrooms (found in Asian stores, about a pound)

parsley (optional)

Grab your cast iron or FryDaddy Electric Deep Fryer (or whatever type of deep fryer you are using) and pour in oil. (DO NOT PLUG UP YET)

Take your oyster mushrooms out the package and place in a colander. Pull apart to desired size and rinse well.

Start making your wet batter. Place 1 cup of spelt flour in a large mixing bowl along with garlic powder, onion powder, and sea salt. Add in water and mixed. Batter should be the right consistency to coat mushrooms; not to thick and not to runny. Set aside.

Grab a bowl 1 cup of spelt flour, garlic powder, and onion powder and mix until fully combined. Set aside. NOTE: You could use a large Ziploc bag for this to easily add your mushrooms and shake to get an even coat of the dry batter on the mushrooms.

Next coat each oyster mushroom in the wet batter ONCE and place it in the the bowl and evenly coat with the dry batter ONCE. Do that for all pieces. NOTE: Using a Ziploc bag simply close the bag and shake vigorous until all mushroom are fully coated in dry batter. DO NOT GO BACK IN FORTH BETWEEN THE WET AND DRY BATTER TO PREVENT OVER BREADING IT WILL NOT TASTE WELL!

Plug up your Fry Daddy Electric Deep Fryer and allow oil to get hot. (Or if using a cast iron heat oil in your iron until hot). Carefully place mushrooms in oil allowing mushrooms to fry for about 2 to 3 minutes until evenly browned. With your fry basket remove done mushrooms from oil and place on plate cover with a paper towel. Sprinkle with additional sea salt and dried parsley (opt) NOTE: Make sure your oil is hot and DO NOT overcrowd your mushrooms in the deep fryer or cast iron. If you need, divide mushrooms in half to cook a handful at a time.

Serve with your favorite dipping sauces, on top of a salad, or along with your favorite sides for dinner!

"Fried Chicken" Made With Oyster Mushrooms!

Try this vegan take on the classic English breakfast that boasts vegan sausages with hash browns, mushrooms, tomatoes, scrambled tofu and baked beans

Vegan fry-up

potato,

peanut butter

cherry tomatoes

sunflower oil

maple syrup

¼ tsp smoked paprika

Portobello mushroom, sliced

pack silken tofu

yeast

turmeric

garlic, crushed

vegan sausages (we used Dee’s leek & onion)

x 200 grams can baked beans

Cook the potato whole in a large pan of water, boil for 10 mins then drain and allow to cool. Peel the skin away then coarsely grate. Mix with the peanut butter and season well. Set aside in the fridge until needed.

Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Put the cherry tomatoes onto a baking tray, drizzle with 2 tsp sunflower oil, season and bake for 30 mins or until the skins have blistered and start to char. Cook the beans and sausages following the instructions on the pack so they're ready to serve at the same time as the scrambled tofu.

Meanwhile, mix the maple syrup, soy sauce and ¼ tsp smoked paprika together in a large bowl, add the sliced mushroom and toss to coat in the mixture. Leave to stand while you pour 2 tsp sunflower oil into a non-stick frying pan and bring it up to a medium high heat. Fry the mushroom until just starting to turn golden but not charred. Scoop onto a plate and keep warm until serving.

Put 1 tbsp oil into the frying pan and add spoonfuls of the potato mixture – you should get about 4. Fry for 3-4 mins each side then drain onto kitchen paper.

Crumble the tofu into your frying pan and sprinkle over the remaining ingredients and a good pinch of salt and pepper. If the pan looks a little dry add a splash more oil. Fry for 3-4 mins or until the tofu is broken into pieces, well coated in the seasoning and hot through.

Divide everything between 2 plates and serve with a hot mug of tea made using soy milk.

Crispy crumbed air fried mushrooms is a delicious vegetarian snack or appetizer served with sour cream dipping sauce.

Crumbed Air Fried Mushrooms

flour

eggs (beaten)

panko breadcrumbs

oregano

salt and black pepper

sour cream

lemon juice

salt and black pepper (to taste)

Season the flour with a pinch of salt and pepper and place in a shallow bowl.

Beat the eggs into a second shallow bowl.

In a third bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs with the garlic powder and oregano and season with salt and pepper.

Coat the mushrooms first in seasoned flour, then in beaten egg and finally in bread crumbs.

Place the crumbed mushrooms in a single layer in the air fryer then drizzle with olive oil. Place the basket in the air fryer.

Cook at 200ºC/390ºF for 10 minutes then turn over and cook for another 3-5 minutes until the mushrooms are crisp and golden.

To make the dipping sauce, stir together the sour cream, chopped chives, garlic powder and lemon juice then season to taste with salt and pepper.

Serve the mushrooms with the dipping sauce.

Crispy, golden-brown mushrooms with a perfectly seasoned coating just like those served at Logan's Roadhouse.

Logan's Roadhouse Fried Mushrooms

vegetable oil (for frying)

fresh white button mushrooms

all-purpose flour

buttermilk

water

Pour oil into a large saucepan or deep fryer to a depth of 3 to 4 inches. Heat the oil to 350 degrees.

Gently clean the mushrooms with a damp paper towel. If these stems are very large (greater than 3/4 inch), trim off the stem, as they may be woody. If the mushrooms are small, there is no need to trim off the stem.

Combine the flour with the salt and pepper in a bowl. Stir to combine the flour mixture.

Combine buttermilk and water in another bowl

Dredge the mushrooms in the seasoned flour, shaking off the excess, and then dip them in the buttermilk.

Dredge them in the flour again. Knock off the excess flour.

Lower the mushrooms gently into the hot oil, cook them until they are golden brown. It will take about 2 to 3 minutes for the mushrooms to cook. Drain on a wire rack. Serve with your favorite sauce.

Read my comment below. We had same issue (years ago on other things), but I explain how to fix it below. Hope that helps you, because this is a DAMNED GREAT recipe. Better than the restaurants -- if you ask me.

Stephanie ... These were so delicious. I can't believe we can make them at home -- just as good as going to a restaurant. We will never buy these again. However, here are some changes that I'd suggest you try and (then) maybe apply to your own recipe.

Cathy made these yesterday, and they were fabulous. But, a few changes needed to be made:
	• Eat with Marie's creamy ranch dressing.
	• Reduce salt and pepper to 1/2 tsp … maybe even less.
	• Early on, remove all the stems for the mushrooms.
	• If mushrooms really big, cut in half.
	• With smaller mushrooms, just keep them whole.
	• Don't cut them too small, or they will not be juicy. They will be hard to chew and leathery.
	• Don't overcook them or over-brown them, because they won't be that juicy.
	• Aim for cooking them to be "Light Brown" -- about 2 minutes.
	• But randomize the mushrooms so that sometimes they're big and sometimes they are a little smaller.

Hope that helps to improve your recipe; or, that's what we like. And, the amount of salt is not determined yet. But, we are going to reduce it down. It's pretty salty to us.

I made this but didn't get the batter to stick all over the mushrooms. They tasted superb though, used baby bellas and removed stems. So good like near perfect except the batter

These come out perfect every time!! Quickly became a family favorite!

These were some of the best homemade fried mushrooms I have ever tasted!

Just cooked this, as directed, AMAZING !!!! Huge hit with the whole family.

I had fried mushrooms last night at Winghouse they were very good .now I have to make them myself at home.

Grandpa's Epic Fried Mushrooms Recipe

Parasol

White Flour

Eggs

Bread Crumbs (as much

Parsley (not mandatory)

Peanut Oil

Salt and pepper

Clean the MushroomsFirst things first: carefully clean the mushrooms. No one wants a mouthful of dirt, even if it’s “nature’s seasoning.” Use a damp cloth to gently wipe them down, avoiding water if possible to keep them from getting soggy. Trim the stems out.

Prep the Batter for Fried MushroomsCrack the eggs into a bowl and whisk until smooth. Add a pinch of salt and pepper, then stir in the chopped parsley (if you want). This adds a fresh, herby kick to the batter, but is not mandatory.

Coat the MushroomsSlice the larger mushrooms into manageable pieces (depends on the dimension of the mushroom). Gently proceed with the first coating pressing the mushroom in flour, then dip each mushroom slice into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated, then roll it in bread crumbs. Press gently to make sure the crumbs stick—this is the secret to that irresistible crunch.

Heat the OilIs it better to fry mushrooms in butter or oil? Grandpa swears by oil for deep frying. Heat a generous amount of neutral oil (like peanut, sunflower or canola) in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Test the heat with a toothpick - if it sizzles, you’re good to go.

Fry the MushroomsShould you fry mushrooms fast or slowly? Fast, always fast! Carefully place the coated mushrooms into the hot oil, leaving space between each piece. Fry for about 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.

Drain and ServeRemove the fried mushrooms with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to soak up any excess oil. Sprinkle with a little extra salt while they’re still hot.
