Quick Ginger Garlic Miso Tahini Dressing

tahini ((sesame seed paste

Tbsp grated ginger ((or very finely minced))

garlic

Tbsp coconut aminos ((plus more to taste))

Tbsp rice vinegar*

maple syrup ((plus more to taste))

water

sea salt ((optional))

kale oil

/ ribboned carrot

green onion

red cabbage

cashews

To a medium mixing bowl add tahini, fresh ginger, garlic, miso paste, coconut aminos, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and maple syrup and whisk to combine.

Add water until a creamy, pourable sauce is achieved. Taste and adjust flavor as needed, adding more vinegar for tanginess, maple syrup for sweetness, miso for strong miso flavor, garlic or ginger for zing, or salt or coconut aminos for saltiness.

Store leftovers in the refrigerator up to 5-7 days. Freezer friendly up to 1 month, though best when fresh.

The stars of this dressing: tahini & miso! Tahini is an Arabic name for ground sesame seeds. However, its origins are thought to have been in Persia, where it was called “ardeh.” Tahini later found its way to Israel and was held as a delicacy. Miso was believed to have originated in China and later introduced to Japan more than 1,300 years ago by Buddhist priests. It has since become a staple in Japanese cuisine.

This Shrimp and Avocado Salad is topped with spicy shrimp, crisp cucumbers, spinach, creamy avocado, and a generous drizzle of miso dressing. The happiest green salad ever!

Heat the butter in a small skillet over medium high heat. Add the garlic and shrimp; sprinkle with the chili powder and cayenne directly in the pan. Sauté for a few minutes on each side until the shrimp are no longer clear and have a nice golden color on the outside.

Arrange all the salad veg in a bowl with the shrimp.

Cut the avocados in half; cut lines through the avocado vertically and horizontally and scoop the flesh out with a spoon (like this). Peel and dice the cucumber. Chop the spinach or baby kale into small bite sized pieces. Arrange in a bowl with the shrimp.

Puree all the dressing ingredients together in a food processor until smooth. Taste and adjust to your preferences. Pour the dressing over the salad and serve immediately (or store the individual parts separately in the refrigerator until ready to serve). Top with fresh cilantro and peanuts for crunch.

A bright refreshing Spring Mix Salad with Miso Dressing. It has creamy avocado, heirloom tomatoes, sliced radishes, and fresh mint leaves in it too. A sure win salad for your grilling menu. 

Spring Mix Salad with Sweet Miso Dressing

red radish ((sliced))

cherry tomatoes ((sliced))

mint leaves ((hand torn))

radish sprouts ((discard the bottom, optional))

Tbsp M1nute Miso (liquid miso) ((can be substituted

Tbsp toasted white sesame seeds ((ground))

Combine the dressing ingredients in a small mixing bowl and whisk all together.

Rinse the spring mix salad and dry completely. Toss the salad, avocado, radish, heirloom tomatoes, mint leaves, and radish sprouts in a large bowl.

Drizzle the dressing and toss gently. Serve immediately.

This fresh and simple miso dressing is packed with flavor! Use it as a miso salad dressing or as a sauce for drizzling fish or bowl meals. 

Easy Miso Dressing

white, light, or yellow miso (we used yellow)

sesame oil (not toasted)

white wine or rice vinegar

orange juice

soy sauce

maple syrup or honey (or sugar)

Optional add in: 1/2 teaspoon finely grated fresh ginger

In a small bowl, whisk together all ingredients until a creamy dressing forms. Store refrigerated up to 1 month.

Miso brown rice & broccoli salad with fiery prawns

brown basmati rice

ready-shelled frozen edamame beans

broccoli (about ½ a head), broken into florets

tbsp white or brown miso paste

½ tsp finely grated fresh ginger

tbsp rice vinegar

½ tbsp clear honey

tsp sesame oil

vegetable oil

red chilli

raw shelled prawn

spring onions

pack coriander

Cook the rice following pack instructions, adding the edamame beans for the last 3 mins of cooking. Drain well.

Meanwhile, steam the broccoli for 4-5 mins until tender. Run under very cold water, drain thoroughly and pat dry. In a small bowl, mix the miso, ginger, vinegar, honey, sesame oil and seasoning.

Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick frying pan. Add the garlic and half the chilli and cook gently for a couple of mins, taking care not to burn. Throw in the prawns, lots of black pepper and a pinch of salt. Turn up the heat and cook for a few mins until the prawns are cooked through. Toss the miso dressing with the cooked rice, adding the spring onions, coriander and broccoli. Season and stir together. Spoon the spicy prawns on top, scatter over the remaining chilli and serve.

Place all ingredients in the blender, and blend until silky smooth.

Store in a sealed jar in the fridge for 7 days.

Sesame Miso Dressing

Tahini*

Unseasoned Rice Vinegar

Shiro (Yellow) Miso Paste

tsp Maple Syrup

½ cup Water, plus more to taste

Add the Tahini, Rice Vinegar, Miso Paste, and Maple Syrup to a large bowl and mix to form a thick, even paste.

Slowly pour in the filtered water while you whisk the mixture. Continue to whisk until evenly incorporated, then serve as desired. Leftovers will keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

I plan on making this, however, I never used Tahini, is there as specific type or are they all the same? Also why filtered water? I used bottled water but is there a specific type I should be using?

20 minute chopped Asian with orange-sesame miso dressing is a healthy make-ahead vegetarian main or side-dish served with your protein of choice.

Chopped Asian Salad with Orange-Sesame Miso Dressing

cabbage

matchstick carrots

red bell pepper, julienned

chow mein noodles

edamame

jalapeño, seeds and ribs removed, thinly sliced (optional)

sesame seeds

orange juice ((from 1 orange))

Tbsp. tahini

Tbsp. rice vinegar

Tbsp. white miso paste

Tbsp. honey

Tbsp. toasted sesame oil

Prepare dressing by combining all ingredients in a medium bowl or glass jar. Use an immersion blender, frother, or whisk to mix until smooth and creamy. Taste and season with a pinch of salt, if needed.

Combine all salad ingredients in a large bowl, and lightly season with kosher salt. Pour dressing overtop, and toss to combine. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds, if desired.

This recipe was a huge hit! No leftovers at all! Such a simple recipe and the combination of flavors was delicious. I will definitely be making this again.

Combine the dressing ingredients in a small mixing bowl and whisk together until smooth and most of the miso is dissolved.

For the dressing

In a large bowl, toss the edamame, carrots, and cabbage.

Dress

Pour desired amount of dressing over the vegetables and toss until evenly mixed. Top with chopped cilantro and serve.

For the salad

These light ginger-miso noodles are a refreshing dinner on busy nights. Ready in 20 minutes. Made in 1 pot with minimal chopping. To make it more filling, serve with sliced avocado, sesame seeds, baked tofu, peanuts, or cashews. You can also whisk a couple of tablespoons of nut or seed butter (sunbutter is great in this) into the dressing for added richness. 

Quick Vegan Miso Noodles

rice noodles (I used brown rice Pad Thai noodles.)

carrot,

sweet corn

lime juice (From about 1 lime.)

½ tablespoons tamari (Or soy sauce

ginger (Approx. small thumb-size piece of ginger root.)

fresh greens

Boil

Heat a large pot of salted water for the noodles. Check the instructions on the noodle package; cook time for rice noodles is typically around 5 minutes. Add noodles and carrot to boiling water, and cook for 1 minute. Stir occasionally to prevent noodles from sticking.

Cook

By the end of the minute the water should have returned to a boil. Add the edamame to the pot, stir, and set timer for 5 minutes. As soon as the water returns to a boil, add the corn. Once noodles are tender, drain in a colander. Rinse with water to prevent sticking. Drain well.

Combine

In a large serving bowl whisk together the lime zest and juice, tamari, miso, ginger, sweetener, rice vinegar, and garlic. Add the cooled noodles and veggies to the serving bowl and toss with the dressing. Top with green onion. The noodles can be served warm or cold.

Serve

Arrange greens on individual serving plates, if using, top with noodles, and green onion, and serve.
