Roasted Asparagus

Preheat

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. For easy cleanup, line a rimmed baking with parchment paper or lightly coat with non-stick spray.

Snap

Snap off the woody ends of the asparagus by holding the stem end in one hand and gripping it near the base with the other. Briskly bend and the asparagus will naturally snap in the right place (I find this task very satisfying). Discard the stem ends.

Toss

Arrange the asparagus on the baking sheet. Drizzle with the olive oil and sprinkle with salt and any dried herbs you are using. Toss to coat, then spread into an even layer.

Bake

Bake the asparagus for 9 to 11 minutes (for thin stalks) or 15 to 20 minutes (for thicker stalks), just until it easily pierces with a fork.

Sprinkle

Sprinkle the asparagus with your toppings of choice. My favorite is lemon zest and juice, a sprinkle of Parmesan, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Enjoy hot or at room temperature.

Be honest: Do you have a veggie side with each dinner?

I love this but I think I put too much olive oil! Mine were not crisp at all, too soggy but still good. Maybe a higher heat first or put oil in pan then bake pan to get hot before putting the veggies in? I usually sauté. Is there special baking pans or should I use a cookie sheet?

I start with a plastic bag. Shake in garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt and then add your best olive oil. Massage bag to combine the spices with the oil, and add the asparagus. Toss all together till every piece is coated and turn out onto a sheet pan. I roast at 400 degrees for about 10 min. till crisp tender, and no more. 
Always perfect.

Recipe was easy yet I used my Spanish Olive Oil +added some of the Italian extra virgin Olive Oil, that I purchase @ the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival  every year.  I also added the juice from a fresh lemon and about 2 very well diced garlic cloves to add to the flavor.  Also, I usually always use freshly grind my salt and my pepper (my pepper being a multi blend of many types of different peppercorns).

I prefer roasting in the oven at a lower temperature, starting at around 350 for about 15 to 20 minutes and then turn it down to 250 degrees for about another 15 minutes. Also I use real butter, real garlic, pink salt and fresh ground peppercorn medley. I have a question, who knows what fresh herbs are good with asparagus?

If you only roast for 10 minutes you won't get the charred yumminess! If it doesn't look charred enough at 25 minutes, I'll leave it in longer!

Lemon Garlic Roasted Asparagus

Preheat the oven to 400ºF. Rinse the asparagus well, then trim off the dry or woody end of the stem (usually about one inch needs to be removed from the ends). Mince two cloves of garlic.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup, if desired. Place the trimmed asparagus on the baking sheet along with the minced garlic. Drizzle the olive oil over top, then add the salt and pepper. Toss the asparagus until they are coated in garlic, oil, salt, and pepper.

Transfer the asparagus to the preheated 400ºF oven and roast for 20 minutes or until they have browned to your liking (roasting time may vary depending on the girth of your asparagus). Stir once halfway through roasting.

While the asparagus are cooking, zest the lemon using the fine side of a box grater or a small-holed cheese grater. You&#039;ll need about 1 tsp zest. After zesting, cut the lemon into wedges.

Once the asparagus are roasted, add the lemon zest and a couple squeezes of lemon juice. Toss to coat. Taste and adjust the salt or lemon as desired. Serve with the remaining lemon wedges.

Cheesy Oven Roasted Asparagus is a simple side dish that is perfect for any meal. Quick & easy with just three main ingredients!

I'm assuming medium asparagus with about a dime-size diameter here. If you have super skinny pencil-like asparagus (or skinnier!) reduce the cooking time by a few minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and line a baking sheet with foil.

Wash and pat dry the asparagus. Snap off the ends that are gray/white discard. Start to break the spears in that area of the stem and it will naturally break just where it's supposed to. This removes the less tender part of the stalk.

Place asparagus onto the prepared baking sheet and toss with oil. Sprinkle with salt.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, adjusting the time down a few minutes if your asparagus is super skinny. (12-14 is usually perfect for classic medium thickness spears.) You can use a paring knife to poke into the center of a spear to make sure it's nice and tender, or simply remove one from the pan and taste it!

Serve warm as a side dish or tossed into pasta, ravioli, rice, or a salad.

Perfect Roasted Asparagus

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (232 C). Set out a large baking sheet (as original recipe is written // use more baking sheets as needed to avoid crowding).

Trim woody ends off of the asparagus (~1-2 inches from the bottom) and place the asparagus sprigs on the bare baking sheet(s). If you want to use parchment paper, refer to packaging for maximum safe temperature. We found a bare baking sheet yielded the best result.

Drizzle with oil and toss to distribute evenly. Sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper (optional). To encourage browning, avoid crowding the pan. The asparagus can touch but should not be overlapping.

Bake for 6-10 minutes or until lightly browned and tender when pierced with a fork. Should still have a little bite. Thicker stems will require longer cook time than thinner stems. Taste and add more salt to taste as needed.

Serve hot. Optionally, garnish with vegan parmesan cheese and/or a sprinkle of lemon juice and/or zest.

Best when fresh. Store leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Reheat in a skillet on the stovetop until warm. Not freezer friendly.

I have always roasted asparagus at 400 degrees. Not usually happy with results. I am not an asparagus fan but other half is so I gave your temp and time a try. I was Leary, it didn’t look done enough. But was I wrong . The texture was perfect and had a nice crunch. Didn’t gag me like asparagus usually does
