lb/500 g dried spaghetti ((or other long pasta))

extra virgin olive oil

tbsp extra virgin olive oil

brown onion (, diced)

oz/400 grams crushed tinned tomatoes

tsp red chilli flakes

fresh cherry tomatoes (, halved)

oz / 800 grams crushed tinned tomatoes

black sliced olives

capers

tinned tuna

Cook 1lb/500g of dried spaghetti (or any other long dried pasta) in a large pot of salted boiling water per packet MINUS 1 minute.

Meanwhile, prepare one of the sauces below.

When pasta is ready, scoop out 1 cup of pasta cooking water, and drain pasta.

Add pasta into chosen sauce with 3/4 cup pasta cooking water.&nbsp;Toss pasta until sauce thickens and sticks to pasta (called "emulsifying" the sauce), 1 - 2 minutes.&nbsp;Use more pasta water if needed to loosen sauce.

Season with salt and pepper to taste. Finish pasta per chosen recipe.

Base Directions (for All):

Heat oil over medium high heat. Add garlic and cook until golden - be careful not to burn it. &nbsp;

Toss with pasta and cooking water per Base Directions. Toss through parsley and chilli flakes, serve with parmesan.

PASTA WITH OLIVE OIL &amp; GARLIC (AGLIO E OLIO):

Heat oil over medium high heat. Add garlic, stir until fragrant, then add the tinned tomatoes and chilli flakes, simmer on medium for 5 minutes.

Toss with pasta and cooking water per Base Directions.   Toss through parsley and serve with parmesan.

FIERY PASTA (ARRABIATA):

Heat oil over medium high heat. Add garlic and anchovies, stir until the garlic is fragrant and the anchovies have melted.&nbsp;

Toss with pasta and cooking water per Base Directions. Toss through parsley and chilli flakes, and serve with parmesan.

PASTA WITH ANCHOVIES (SPAGHETTI CON LE ACCIUGHE):

Heat oil over medium high heat. Add the garlic, onion and guanciale (or pancetta or bacon) and cook until the onion has softened and the guanciale &nbsp;is golden.

Add the tinned tomatoes and chilli flakes and bring to rapid simmer. Toss with pasta and cooking water per Base Directions. Serve with parmesan.

AMATRICE SPAGHETTI (SPAGHETTI ALL’AMATRICIANA):

Heat oil over medium high heat. Add garlic and cook&nbsp;until fragrant, add tomato and cook briefly, just to warm through.&nbsp;

Toss with pasta and cooking water per Base Directions. Toss through basil, serve with parmesan.

FRESH TOMATO &amp; BASIL SAUCE (POMAROLA):

Heat oil over medium high heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, then add the onion and cook until softened. Then add tinned tomatoes and 1/2 cup water, simmer 5 minutes.&nbsp;

Toss with pasta and cooking water per Base Directions. Toss through basil and serve with parmesan.

TOMATO SPAGHETTI (SPAGHETTI NAPOLITANA):

Heat oil over medium high heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, then add tinned tomatoes, chilli flakes, olives, capers and 1/2 cup water. Simmer 3 minutes.

Toss with pasta and cooking water per Base Directions.  Toss through parsley and serve with parmesan.

SPAGHETTI WITH OLIVES AND CAPERS (SPAGHETTI ALLA PUTTANESCA):

Heat oil over medium high heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant. Add the onion and cook until softened, then add the tinned tomatoes and 1/2 cup water. Simmer 3 minutes, then add the tuna.&nbsp;

Toss with pasta and cooking water per Base Directions. Toss through parsley. Seafood pasta typically not served with parmesan but you can if you want!

This was absolutely fabulous! I only made a few minor adjustments: 3 cups of heavy cream, 5 tbsp butter, 1 tsp garlic powder, penne rigate instead of rigatoni, 1.5 cups parmigiana-reggiano (incl. some on top just before I served up). The result was magnificent. An easy-to-prepare meal that tasted like I'd slaved over it. My husband must've complimented me 10x during this meal. Thank you for this. Looking forward to checking out your other recipes... especially for the crockpot (my go-to during heat waves).

Wow this is amazing! Very good! Will turn this is into a monthly thing. I did a few things different (from reading the comments) I did exactly what it said, but when I added the pasta I added half a cup more of heavy cream. I also did half a cup of parm chz instead of 1/3 a cup, and when the pasta was half way through cooking I added 1/4 cup more of parm chz. (It made the sauce thick and creamy). The pasta had  to cook longer than recommended (about 30-35 mins). I also did a teaspoon of garlic powder & Italian seasoning instead of half a teaspoon! Also, seasoned the chicken with salt, pepper, a little of garlic powder before cooking. 20/10. Yummy!

Just made this and was amazed how it came together so easily. I cooked the pasta separately, but followed everything else to a tee. The chicken came out perfect- absorbed a lot of the spices and the sauce was surprisingly flavorful. Tastes like restaurant quality easily- and only took like 20 mins of actual cooking. Thank you!

I don't know what I did wrong, but it was not very good. The noodles weren't cooked enough and it was soupy.

The consistency was like soup. And the sauce was not appealing.

Olive Garden has nothing on me!  I followed the instructions but also followed other reviews to increase the heavy cream and the Parmesan.  My husband and I loved it and is now our new favorite meal. Super quick for a slow cooker.

Great dish! Two things I recommend; 1) just cut up/cube the chicken before hand and remove with a slotted spoon when the recipe calls for it. No need to do whole and then shred later, saves time! 2) About 10 minutes after adding the pasta, add another 1/3-1/2 a cup of cheese (your choice depending on the flavor you want in the end) and the sauce thickens well. Also, between taking the chicken out and adding the everything else, stir the sauce well!!! Tasted great and came out delicious!!!

Love this recipe!!! First because it doesn't require a lot of effort. I don't have to stand over the stove constantly stirring, etc. I followed the advice of one of the prior reviews by adding an extra 1/2 cup of heavy cream and 1 full cup of the Parmesan cheese. So delicious!! I've shared the recipe with a few family members and friends.

This turned out amazing. Things I did differently:
Substitute 3 to 4 garlic cloves for garlic powder. Mince them and add in with the chicken at the beginning.
Add another quarter cup to a half cup of heavy cream.
When you add the rigatoni, add another 1/2 cup of shredded Parmesan and cook it for 30 minutes instead of 25. Also, when you add the rigatoni, add in some sauteed mushroom as well. It's amazing. Better than just about any restaurant I've ever ordered it from.

I leave my noodles to soak for a bit extra before eating. I felt that 30 minutes wasn't nearly enough time and the rigatoni came out tough and rubbery. If you find your noodles are too tough, let them soak longer until they're at the desired, or try a smaller noodle than rigatoni

This was so easy and delicious. Mine was not runny or soup like at all. Maybe people didn’t put the pasta in raw? The raw pasta soaked up  the creamy sauce as t cooked. I made extra Alfredo sauce on the side as I doubled everything for a large group. We needed the extra sauce to pour over it before serving. Add a toss salad and garlic bread  and TA-da  it was better then Olive Garden. Highly recommend. I adjusted cooking time for my slow cooker as I cooked a large amount.

I used this receipe many time, but instead of the noodle they suggest I put tortellini in it. I also have used Italian style cheese (I had run out of parmesan) and it had the same taste. I also add cayenne pepper spice to give it a little kick! Over all this is wonderful recipe and my whole family has enjoyed it!

I love this recipe but I have 2 suggestions. Firstly, cook it for 4-5 hours on low instead of 2 on high. I feel like it makes the chicken way better. Second, you might need to pre cook the pasta a little bit, or at least leave it in for longer. I've made this, exactly as described, and the pasta came out undercooked.

Yummy and so easy!  I did use penne pasta and cooked it for about 40 minutes since I live in the south and like my pasta softer. I sautés fresh mushrooms in butter and chicken broth and added those. I did add about 1/2 cup chicken broth to thin out the sauce. I’ve saved this to make again. I also cooked it 4 hours in low instead of high. Read the positive comments for variations!

Wanted to add to my review...I didn't know how long to let it "natural release" and dinner was running late, so I think I let it go about 10 minutes (after watching some Youtube videos on it).
I also didn't have basil so omitted that and it still turned out fine.

Turns out amazing every time! I have made this recipe with 3 or 4 different types of noodles and it never disappoints.

Directions are NOT specific enough for a beginner. A natural release resulted in overdone pasta. I didn’t  have the soupiness problem. After ppl said it was bland, I used one of those pre-marinated Italian style chicken packs from TJs, one cup of Better Than Bouillon garlic broth and one cup chicken, hand grated parmigiana regiano and tripled the garlic. It was a mushy brown mess but very tasty. I think I might try adding the cream cheese that someone else suggested.

I haven't had the best luck with pasta dishes in the Instant Pot (still learning) but my bf said this was delicius. I was a bit skeptical when I read the recipe because it has 2 cups of broth and doesn't call for draining the pasta. 
I threw in some broccoli instead of parsley to add some color. 
I like that it made plenty for leftovers. Definitely going to make this again. I also used only 2% with the cream and it still worked fine. I also chopped up the chicken again ahead of time.

The easiest and best Alfredo ever.  Some of the pasta stuck together. I will separate it next time before adding chicken. You should get this recipe added to the Instant Pot app.

We really enjoyed this recipe!! It came out so flavorful and tasty. I didn’t measure the seasonings on the chicken, I usually never do. I just seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and italian seasoning. I also added broccoli after it was all done cooking in the instapot because I had already steamed the broccoli. And the only other change I made was adding some cheddar cheese because I didn’t have enough of parmesan only. I think it added a depth of flavor that was amazing! Make sure to change it to pressure cook setting when you are cooking the noodles and the chicken. I cooked it on high pressure for nine minutes and it was perfectly al dente noodles.

Followed the recipe except used 1% milk instead of whole milk, as well as broccoli instead of parsley. Also added a little bit of nutmeg. It was tasty albeit soupy.

This was my first ever time using my Instant Pot so I think at Step 3 where it says to lock the lid and cook on high for 8 minutes, it does leave out changing the mode from Saute to Pressure Cook. I didn't change the mode so it made a messier situation for me but honestly it still came out good. Would make again.

I made this a few times and I really wasnt ever pleased with it. This is just one of those dishes that I prefer to make on the stove. My biggest problem was the noodles being too over done.  I dont like super soft noods. Other than that it did have a decent flavor and was pretty simple

Amazing recipe. Tweak it to your liking and it’ll be your go to recipe for Alfredo. I recommend using 1/2 cup of cream cheese when adding the parm cheese. It makes the sauce less thin

This was terrible.  I don’t know what kind of restaurants other reviewers eat at, but I wouldn’t pay 2 cents for Alfredo like this.  I followed the recipe exactly but ended up with  
a very thin sauce which tasted nothing like the good, thick, creamy, cheese Alfredo sauce in the restaurants I frequent.
