pepper jelly, melted (optional)

In a large bowl combine the flour, cornmeal mix, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Add the tomato and onion and stir to combine.

In a small bowl, lightly beat the egg into the buttermilk, and then add in the pimento cheese and stir to combine. Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and stir until just combined. Add a small amount if additional buttermilk if you find the batter too thick.

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Spoon the batter into the oil by heaping tablespoonsful. Cook 4 to 5 minutes, then flip the fritters and press them flat with the back of a spatula. Cook 4 to 5 more minutes or until crispy and golden brown. Cook in batches, adding more oil if necessary; then drain on paper towels, and serve hot. Serve with melted pepper jelly and additional pimento cheese, if desired.

Ok, so this was good. I used only 2 jars of pimentos and I roasted 4 medium jalapeños  and gave them a chop and mixed in. People keep asking if it could be served chilled. What I did was cook the noodles and drain, let them cool just slightly and then add the cheese. The heat from the noodles helps the cheese melt. Add the Mayo and pimentos and stir. Top with green onion. I enjoyed it on the warm side, but ate it cold the next day and it was very good.

Pimento Cheese Cornbread

cheddar cheese (- 1 (8-ounce package))

(4-ounce) jar diced pimento peppers, drained

Preheat the oven to 425°F. Add 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil or shortening to an 10.25-inch cast iron skillet and place it in the oven to preheat while the oven preheats. (If your oven preheats quickly, you might want to leave the skillet in the oven to heat for at least 5 minutes once it&#39;s reached the target temp to allow the skillet to heat through. This is what gives the cornbread its thick, dark brown outer crust.)

In a large bowl, whisk the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together. Add the egg, mayonnaise, buttermilk, and water and stir until smooth. Add the cheddar cheese and drained pimentos to the mixture - reserving a few of each to sprinkle on the top. Stir to combine.

Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven and rotate it to ensure the oil has coated the entire bottom of the skillet. Pour the batter into the skillet, being cautious as the hot oil can splatter a bit. You&#39;ll know the skillet is pre-heated enough if the batter sizzles when you pour it in. Sprinkle the remaining cheese and pimentos on the top of the batter. Return the skillet to the oven and bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown. You can also turn the oven on low broil for 2 to 3 minutes if you like the top really brown.

Remove from the oven and immediately invert to remove the cornbread from the skillet. If left in the skillet, the bottom will lose its crisp, crunchy crust. Serve warm.

Prep. There are two ways to prep the pepper: 1) Slice the peppers in half or quarters lengthwise, strip out the seeds, ribs, and stems, and rinse them. There is less waste with this method, but the pepper has a natural curve and won&#039;t lay flat. 2) Lop off the stem end and a bit off the other end, cut through on one side top to bottom, and then run your knife along the inside wall to remove the seeds and ribs. With this method you get a long strip of pepper that can lay flat.

Char. Place the pepper, skin side down, on a hot grill or over a gas stovetop burner, a little less than Warp 10, or place them skin side up on a pan under a broiler. Keep the heat on until the skin blisters and blackens, about 10 minutes, depending on your grill. For thick walled peppers you can flip them over for a few minutes until they are cooked through and limp, but don&#039;t burn the meaty side.

Steam. After charring, a lot of recipes say to seal them in a paper bag so steam can loosen the skin, but those bags are often dirty and who knows what is in the glue, so I just place them in a bowl and cover it with a plate.

After about 15 minutes, when they cool enough to handle, strip off as much of the skin as possible with your fingers, or lay them skin up and gently scrape off the skin with a knife. Discard the skin. Don&#039;t worry if a few bits of skin remain.

Use or freeze. You can use them immediately or freeze them for months. Just put them in a zipper bag, drizzle in a little olive oil, squeeze out as much of the air as possible, zip it tight, squish them around so they are more or less coated in oil, write the date on the bag, and in the freezer they go.

Optional. Smoke 'em. Instead of grilling the peppers, put them in your smoker until they are soft and pliable and you can strip off the skins. If they don't come off easily, toss them on the hot grill until they are charred.

De hecho, no es más que una ensalada verde, pero presentada con todo tipo de embutidos de nuestra tierra. Se pueden añadir espárragos blancos, pepino, aceitunas negras, pimiento rojo, rábanos, fuet, chorizo, longaniza, anchoas y otros embutidos típicos.     Pretty much the way I make mine as your recipe above...gotta add the hot sauce and sometimes I had some cream horseradish.  Having a pimento cheeseburger on a brioche roll is one of the joys of life!!!  Happy hump day to you!

I haven't used cream cheese before - but hey, it can't be bad! I never use mustard but I probably use a little more grated onion because we like it. I basically stick with the Duke's recipe - half sharp/half white sharp cheddar but I don't measure - you know when it looks right. You just can't go wrong there, but I might play with perfection and give the cream cheese a try.

I love your recipes and follow them almost to a tee…(😁) …. Here’s a suggestion I’ve been using now for awhile. Instead of the diced pimentos that we are all familiar with head over to the Mexican food aisle and look for a jar of GOYA fancy pimento…. You have to dice it up but it really enhances the flavor of pimento and cheese… you can actually taste the pimento!

I came to CT to visit relatives.  Made Palmetto Cheese spread and  crackers as an appetizer.  It was a big hit with our neighbors at the block party! Got many compliments.
