Homemade Pork Wontons

Chopped Green Scallions (sliced)

Ginger (grated)

Garlic (crushed)

Soy Sauce

Rice Vinegar

Cornstarch

Sesame Oil

Sugar Or Other Sweetener Equivalent

Kosher Salt

Mix all ingredients except the wonton wrappers together and let rest for a few minutes for the flavors to meld.

Place 1 teaspoon of the meat mixture on each wrapper and shape into a triangle.

Press firmly on the sides of the triangle to seal, and then press around the meat filling to seal inside.

Cover with damp paper towel and form all 48 wontons using all the wrappers in this fashion.

When you're ready to cook the wontons, put 2 cups of water into a pan and place 6-8 wontons in at a time.

When the water comes to a boil, add 1 cup of water to it and let it come to a boil.

Add another cup of water and let this come to a boil. Once this second cup of water boils, the wonts are ready. Take them out very gently with a strainer and serve hot with some good quality soy sauce.

These pork dumplings are filled with fresh veggies and ground pork, then pan fried and steamed to give you the perfectly crisp, yet tender texture.

Pork Dumplings

cabbage

green onion, thinly sliced

hoisin sauce

(round) dumpling/potsticker wrappers

soy sauce

Add pork, cabbage, garlic, green onion, hoisin, sesame oil, ginger and a large pinch of salt and pepper to a large bowl. Mix until well combined. 

Fill a small bowl with water. Lay out a dumpling wrapper and use your finger dipped in water to wet the entire edge of the wrapper. 

Scoop about a tablespoon of filling into the center of the dumpling wrapper. A cookie scoop works well for this.

Fold the wrapper in half and press the edges together to seal the dumpling into a half moon shape. 

Place the dumpling onto a baking sheet, gently pressing it down so the bottom flattens and it can stand on it's own. 

Heat 2 tablespoons oil a large saute pan over medium heat.

Working in batches of about 6-8 (depending on the size of your pan) add dumplings, flat side down  and cook for about 1-2 minutes or until the bottom is a dark golden brown. 

Carefully pour a 1/4 cup of water into the pan and cover immediately. The mixture of oil and water will cause the pan to spit and spatter oil everywhere, so we be sure to have the lid handy before pouring the water. 

Cook the dumplings, covered for 3-4 minutes or until all the water has been absorbed.

Remove lid and cook for another 30 seconds or so, until the bottoms are crisp again.

Repeat with remaining dumplings. Add more oil as necessary so that the bottom of your pan is always coated in a thin layer of oil. 

Serve with soy sauce and garnish with sliced green onion and sesame seeds.

I have recently developed a serious addiction to potstickers and dumplings lol. Always frozen as I haven’t worked myself up to make them homemade. I came across your recipe and decided it was time!!!! And I am so glad I did! This recipe is insanely easy. Minimal ingredients. But the flavor is phenomenal!!!!! I ended up using square wrappers as that’s all I could find at the time. You can make all at once and just have a feast or you can make the potstickers and put some on the freezer for later. Super easy to make and delicious taste. For the sauce I added a lil rice vinegar, red pepper flakes and sesame oil. Definitely will use this as a appetizer or for pot luck. It’s also a hearty recipe to be used as a main dish.

I loved this recipe!! Potstickers are a fan favorite of mine so being able to make them at home was awesome and fairly easy! I think next time I make them, I will make the mixture the night before excluding the green onions and cabbage, so that the meat could marinate a little more in the flavors (add the green onions and cabbage before assembling so they don't get soggy if you do marinate). I added a generous amount of salt and pepper. If it's not salty enough, dipping them in soy sauce adds more flavor! Wrapping each one individually took some time so I recommend getting helpers to make it go by faster. If you've never tried making your own potstickers before, this is a great recipe to try!! Homemade always beats store bought.

These easy homemade pork wontons are juicy, delicious and simply the best.  Made with simple authentic ingredients you’ll never go back to the packaged stuff!   Serve them with my easy dipping sauce as an appetizer or in noodle soup for a cozy meal.Makes 25-30 wontons and ¼ cup of dipping sauce

Juicy Homemade Pork Wontons with Soy Sesame Dipping Sauce

Tbsp. yellow chive ((finely chopped))

Tbsp. Shaoxing wine ((or other rice wine))

tsp grated ginger

tsp light soy sauce

tsp sesame oil

¼ tsp white pepper

salt ((to taste))

tsp sugar

cornstarch

3" x 3" wonton wrappers ((extras in case of ripping))

Tbsp. light soy sauce

tsp rice vinegar

Tbsp. sugar

Tbsp. scallions ((finely chopped))

¼ tsp sesame oil

tsp chilli oil ((optional))

scallions ((for garnishing))

In a medium bowl, combine minced pork, chives, wine, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, pepper, salt and sugar.  Mix thoroughly with a fork.

Mix in cornstarch thoroughly.

Add beaten egg.  Filling should resemble a paste (see photos).

Make Pork Wonton Filling

In a small bowl, combine light soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, scallions, grated ginger, sesame oil, sesame seeds and chilli oil (if using).

Mix thoroughly.

Make Dipping Sauce

Take the empty bowl used to beat your egg (there should be egg residue left in it) and add 3 tablespoons of water.  This egg water mixture is for sealing your wontons.

Place wonton wrappers on a plate and loosely cover it with a damp paper towel or plastic wrap (to avoid drying out). (See Note 1)

Take your first wrapper and place it down in a diamond orientation. (see post pictures)

Place 1 heaping teaspoon of filling about ⅔ from the top of the wonton wrapper leaving about ½ cm gap from the edges. (see post pictures)

Using your middle finger, dip it into the egg/water mixture and spread it (like you&#39;re sealing an envelope) along the two of the edges of the wrapper closest to your filling.

Take the opposite corner of the wrapper and close it over the filling forming a triangle.  Press down to seal the wonton and line up the edges as best you can.  Lift up the wonton gently and press the edge between your thumb and index finger to ensure a good seal.  (see Note 2)

Place the wonton triangle with the longer filling side facing you.  Take the two corners from the longer &quot;filling&quot; edge and bring them together towards you like you’re tying a bow.  Overlap these corners and seal them together with more egg water. (see post pictures &amp; video). (see Note 3)

Speed up the wrapping process by making 6-8 at a time (whatever number you&#39;re comfortable with).  Lay out all the wrappers, place the filling, spread egg water and seal etc.  Always make sure egg water hasn’t dried up before sealing and spread a bit more if needed.

Place finished wontons in a single layer on cutting board or baking sheet covered with paper towel (to avoid drying out).

Wrap Wontons (see post photos and video)

Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil.

Drop wontons into the pot with a slotted spoon and cook for about 5-6 minutes.  Wontons will sink to the bottom at first.  After 2-3 mins of cooking, use your spoon to GENTLY stir the wontons so they don’t stick to the bottom of the pot. (Note 4)

Wontons will float to the top when almost cooked.  Cook for an extra 1-1.5 minutes.  The wonton wrappers should be almost translucent (not opaque) when done.

Remove wontons with a slotted spoon or small strainer and put on a serving plate.

Serve immediately.  Drizzle over 1 tablespoon of the dipping sauce and toss wontons (if desired) and garnish with scallions.  Put the remaining sauce on the side.

Cook Wontons

Simple and absolutely delicious. These pork wontons are super easy to make and packed full of flavour. Serve as is with a killer dipping sauce or in a soup!

Pork wontons

scallion/spring onion (finely chopped, about 3 bulbs)

garlic (minced)

tbsp shaoxing wine (substitute: rice wine

dark brown sugar (substitute: caster sugar)

⅛ tsp sesame oil

sea salt

½ tsp white pepper

tsp vinegar rice wine vinegar

dark brown sugar

In a small saucer, combine all ingredients and mix with a teaspoon. Set aside.

Dipping sauce

Add all the wonton filling ingredients into a large bowl and mix thoroughly until well combined. Mix with either a fork or a pair of chopsticks.

Now, using the fork or chopsticks, mix mixture in a circular motion. Make sure to only mix in one direction, for about 3 - 4 minutes. The mixture will smell absolutely delicious at this point. (note 1)

Preparing the wonton filling

Place about 1 teaspoon of wonton filling onto the centre of a wonton wrapper.

Bring all four corners of the wonton wrapper together towards the centre. Squeeze the wrapper just above the filling tightly with both hands, using the thumbs, index and middle fingers. Refer to how to video above.

It&#039;s crucial to ensure the wonton is tightly sealed before moving onto making the next wonton.

Repeat until all wontons have been wrapped. Makes about 25 - 30 delicious wontons.

Wrapping the wontons

In a large pot (one that you would use to make pasta) filled with water to about just over halfway and bring to boil.

Cook wontons in 2 batches - about 12 - 15 wontons in each batch. This will ensure the pot is not overcrowded. (note 2)

Once water is boiling, cook the first batch for about 4 minutes. Similar to ravioli, wontons are cooked once it floats to the top.

Once wontons are cooked, scoop onto a serving dish with a slotted spoon.

Cook the second batch.

Serve with the dipping sauce.

Simple and delicious. Pork wontons are little parcels of juicy, mouthwatering goodness. Packed full of flavour, these are perfect just on their own (with some form of dipping sauce) or in soups, with or without noodles.

Water

Combine ground pork and minced shrimp in a bowl. Gradually mix together.

Add jicama, carrot, onion, scallion, egg, ground black pepper, and sesame oil. Continue to mix until all the ingredients are well blended.

Add Knorr SavorRich Pork Liquid Seasoning. Mix well.

Scoop 1 1/2 tablespoons of the pork mixture and wrap in wonton wrapper (see video below for guidance). Perform  this step until the mixture is fully consumed.

Arrange in a steamer and then steam for 15 to 20 minutes.

Transfer to a serving plate. Serve with toyo and calamansi dipping sauce and some chili garlic paste.

I cannot get enough of this savory broth studded with juicy, flavorful homemade wontons. It’s a massively comforting, crazy delicious meal that can be on the table in under 30 minutes. 

Pork & Shrimp Wonton Soup

shrimp (finely chopped)

green onions (thinly sliced)

salt

white pepper

Shiaoxing wine (or substitute sake

bok choy

shrimp

scallions (thinly sliced)

To make the wontons, In a large bowl combine the pork, shrimp, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, cornstarch, salt, and white pepper and mix well.

Working with one wonton wrapper at a time, lightly brush the edges of two adjacent sides of the wrapper with water and place about 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center. Fold over one corner of the wrapper so that the two moistened sides meet the two unmoistened sides, creating a triangle. Press the sides together to seal. Then, hold the corners of the long side of the triangle and bring them together to form the traditional purse shape. Use a bit of water to seal the corners to each other. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling, arranging them on a parchment lined baking sheet.

To make the soup, in a medium saucepan over high heat, combine the broth, ginger, soy sauce, cooking wine, and sesame oil and bring to a simmer.

Cover the pot, reduce the heat to medium, and let simmer for about 10 minutes. Add the bok choy, shrimp, and green onions to the broth and cook until the shrimp are pink and cooked through, about 2 minutes.

Meanwhile, bring a large saucepan of water to a boil. Drop in the wontons (cook them in batches to avoid crowding) and cook until the wontons float to the top, about 5 minutes. Cook 3 to 5 wontons per serving. For 4 servings, I usually cook around 16, but you should do more depending on how hungry your people are.

Using a slotted spoon, transfer the shrimp and bok choy to 4 serving bowls, dividing equally. Next, place cooked wontons in each serving bowl.

Serve the soup by ladling the broth over the shrimp, wontons, and bok choy.

Serve immediately.
