Mexican Crema Recipe

heavy whipping cream

plain yogurt

lime juice

In a sealable container, stir together the cream and yogurt. Cover and let sit at room temperature for 36 to 48 hours, until it becomes very thick*. (The mixture won’t spoil on the counter, since the acid in the mix prevents bacteria associated with dairy products.)

Mix in the lime juice and salt. Taste and adjust lime as necessary. Mexican crema keeps in refrigerator for up 2 weeks, and will continue to thicken while refrigerated.

Pour over al dente pasta for a memorable meal.

Best Bolognese Sauce

Let is simmer for closer to 3 hours to reduce how watery it could be. Definately use the wine, as it enhances all the flavours instead of it tasting bland. Using the milk softens the meat, and adds that traditional Italian orange-ish color, but is not crucial to include. 

Ive made this about 5 or 6 times now, and sometimes add about half a cup of parm cheese to flavour it up a bit more, mixing it into the sauce about 30 mins before serving.

This recipe turned out really well for me. Slow cooking the sauce makes a big difference. I added extra garlic and included italian seasoning to boost the flavour. It was delish! :)

This was a  delicious a new recipe  My husband loved it & thought even better than my old spaghetti  recipe  of  45 years . I made  it  as is,  except  i added a 6 oz can of  tomato paste  and   more garlic &  some  other spices -- simply delicious and I will be making again. 

I did drain of any  grease  and  I  simmered on low ,for     hours. 
I  had no trouble with it being  thick-- I  added all the milk ( I used 1/2 milk and 1/2  half& half  too) -- and took  the advice of another viewer  and added 1/2 cup of fresh grated parmasan right into sauce --

I did this, only that I added bell pepper into the sauté prior to put the meat and used diced sirloin tip center instead.
It has been one of the best bologneses ever

I use this recipe to stuff arancini. It’s delicious and is even more delicious the longer it simmers. I love putting peas in it too.

I did recipe by using actual tomatoes instead at the beginning of the recipe and by cutting the onion in large chucks right when the meat looks ready I blended with a cup of water and chicken bouillon. Then added with tomato sauce/paste. I let simmer for 20 mins and then added paprika, cayenne pepper, ground pepper, and basil for more taste. I let it simmer for another 20 and added only about 1/2 cup of milk and added a little salt. Smells amazing so far!

I'm in culinary school and my assignment was to make a bolognese sauce with pasta as part of a larger meal with what we had laying around the kitchen.  It needed to be a simple recipe that I could put together quickly.  I found this recipe and it worked perfectly.  One thing I did differently was add about a tablespoon of 'Italian seasoning blend' and next time I make it I will drain out at least some of the fat from the ground beef.  Otherwise it was amazing and I was complimented by my instructor and my classmates.

This is the first recipe I tried on this website and I am very disappointed. I am actually more upset at myself for not reading the comments before diving in and trusting the recipe and blindly following the directions and quantities. I wasted two hours of my life and got a watery bland product that definitely was not a bolognese. I had several other recipes tagged to try but alas Delish you have lost my faith and will be looking for a website that actually knows what they're doing.

I followed this recipe without alteration except for the length of time it cooked. The solid to liquid ratio is disproportionate to only cook 2 hours. I had to double this recipe for 2 pounds of pasta and I cooked it for 2 hours and refrigerated it overnight. The next morning I skimmed 3/4 of the fat off and cooked it on simmer for 3 more hours. It was perfect. My family said I could have sold it. Hope this helps the next person who is attempting Bolognese!!

This Classic Bolognese Will Make Your Nonna Proud

Demi-glace is a rich, reduced brown sauce used solo or as a base for other sauces. This meatless version loses the usual veal stock, but none of the texture or flavour.

Vegetable Demi-Glace

onion, unpeeled, coarsely chopped

garlic cloves, unpeeled, smashed

tbsp ml) vegetable oil

tbsp all-purpose flour

tbsp ml) tomato paste

ml) red wine

With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). 

On a baking sheet, toss the vegetables with the oil. Bake for 1 hour or until the vegetables are golden brown, stirring frequently. Remove from the oven. Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir in the tomato paste until thoroughly combined. Continue baking for 10 minutes. 

Place the vegetables in a large pot. Pour the wine onto the baking sheet and scrape up any browned bits. Add the wine mixture to the vegetables along with the bouquet garni and water. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 1 hour.

Strain the stock through a sieve into another pot, pressing the vegetables with the back of a ladle to extract all the juices. Over high heat, boil for 10 minutes or until reduced by half, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper. 

Use the demi-glace as a sauce for vegetables, risotto and pasta, or even fish or meat.

When buying marinara sauce, do you go for classic?

This is almost exactly how I make mine and it's very good (just as is) and easy. We haven't bought jarred sauce in a couple of years. Over the course of time though, I've added two tweaks: 1) I add a small can of tomato paste to the sauce to really kick the tomato flavor up. 2) I roast (at 400 for about 45 minutes) an entire bulb of garlic (cut in half and covered in olive oil and salt) and make a paste out of the cloves and add that to the sauce. Intensifies the garlic flavor (which we like) but still very mild.

Tried it and was bombing delicious. Thank you for sharing, we used basil leaves from the spice bottle but still turned out perfect.

This was amazing. I kept the tomatoes kind of chunky. Didn’t add water. Instead of basil I added a few bay leaves. Never buying marinara again. So delish. Cheers.

Good marinara sauce recipe and extremely easy to make. I would recommend using good olive oil for this. I used it for my ricotta spinach gnocchi and it was delicious.

This is now my go to sauce so much better than any jar. I make it exactly as the recipe says and I love it.

Yummmm.  I followed the recipe as written till the end, when I found it to be too watery, so I:

1) Blended everything (including basil) with an immersion blender.
2) Let it all simmer/boil until the sauce had reduced roughly by half.

I also made the Delish meatball recipe at the same time, so then I cooked those meatballs in the sauce.  They might have added to the sauce flavor.

All in all, I keep going back to eat spoonfuls of sauce and to lick the spoon with indecent relish.

Delicious and easy as is.  I also made a version where I added 1/2 c red wine instead of water. Cento Marzano tomatoes are the best.

This is an excellent recipe for marinara sauce. Due to not having whole tomatoes I used 1-14oz can of stewed tomatoes as well as small can of tomato sauce. I diced the tomatoes when putting it in the sauce and did not use any water to the sauce. I like my marinara a little sweet so added a pinch of sugar when it was cooking. I never add salt. Can always add later if needed. After cooking I added precooked turkey meatballs. Wonderful for hoagie sandwiches or spaghetti. Very easy recipe! Will make again.

This is the famous pasta dish made by GiGi Hadid that went viral!  I prepared it without the vodka and it is absolutely delicious!  A quick meal that is sure to hit the spot!

Gigi Hadid's Viral Pasta Recipe (without the vodka)

penne pasta (or spaghetti noodles)

onion (cubed)

garlic

heavy cream

red pepper

pasta water

butter

parmesan cheese

salt and pepper (to taste)

basil (for garnish)

Boil your pasta according to the package instructions.  In a large skillet on medium high heat add the olive oil and cubed onions.  Saute&#039; the onions for a few minutes until translucent then add in the minced garlic and saute&#039; for another 1-2 minutes.

Add in the tomato paste, heavy cream, butter, pasta water, (some add vodka), crushed red pepper (optional) parmesan cheese, salt and pepper and mix until combined.

Add in your drained pasta and mix in with the sauce.  Garnish with fresh basil and enjoy!

A really simple homemade vegan ‘fish’ sauce perfect to be used for noodle stir-fries, curries, and more!

Vegan Fish Sauce

coconut sugar ((55 g))

tsp red chili flakes

tsp minced garlic

water ((180 ml))

lime juice ((30 ml))

tsp sea salt (or more depending on desired saltiness)

In a small heatproof bowl, add in the sugar, chili flakes, and garlic. Pour in the boiling water. Mix well until the sugar has dissolved. Add in the lime juice and the salt. You can start with the least amount of salt and just add more depending on your desired saltiness level.

Leave the sauce to cool before storing in an airtight container. Keep the sauce in the refrigerator until ready to use. The flavours will get stronger as it sits. This sauce is good for up to 2 to 3 weeks.

You might recognize bravas sauce from the popular tapa, patatas bravas: fried potatoes smothered in a spicy red sauce. What you might not know is that the sauce takes just a few ingredients, very little effort, and barely any time to whip up! And while it’s traditionally served on potatoes, you can try this piquant condiment on so many things, like fish or even vegetables! This recipe will yield just over a cup of sauce.

Bravas Sauce (Salsa Brava)

Extra virgin olive oil

crushed pepper flakes, (more or less to your liking)

sherry vinegar

In a medium pan or skillet, heat about ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic slices and cook, tossing around until the garlic has turned golden brown and the oil is just shimmering (about a couple of minutes).

Remove the garlic from the pan and discard or keep for other uses.

Lower the heat and add the tomato paste, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes and cornstarch, whisk to combine. Slowly add the vegetable broth and keep whisking until the broth is incorporated and the sauce has a smooth and somewhat creamy consistency.

Transfer to a serving bowl or drizzle over your patatas bravas or transfer to a mason jar to store. Allow the sauce to cool before transferring to the fridge.
