Fettuccine alfredo is one of life's greatest comfort foods. It's creamy, cheesy, carb-y, and super super flavorful. We especially love this version because the shrimp adds lots of extra flavor and some lean protein to boot!

Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo

lb. fetuccine

shrimp,

kosher salt

black pepper

garlic,

tbsp. all-purpose flour

heavy cream

c. whole milk

c. Parmesan,

tbsp. Chopped parsley, for garnish

This was awesome. Whole family loved it.  We added steamed broccoli which was great!

I made this last night and OMG it is the best version i have made so far. I have tried many different ones. Some with less and some with more ingredients. My family noticed a difference with this one. I didn't have fettuccine so i used whole wheat penni and the family still thought it was the best ever.   
Serve with some crusty Italian bread and Rex Goalith Cab Sauv ♥ . Delish for sure. 
I wish I had a better presentation picture but once I put it on the plate I was half way through before I thought to take a pic. Oh and I doubled the recipe for guest and have plenty of leftovers for lunch.

Just made this and it was awesome! Only had Half &amp; Half on hand so used in place of milk and heavy cream. Lots of garlic and parsley made this a creamy, dreamy delight! Easy too!

Flavors are good but sauce was too pasty in texture instead of creamy. Less flour?

Turned out great and really easy to make. I used the cheap Parmesan and it was still good. Next time I’ll splurge for the real Parmesan and see how that tastes.

This shrimp alfredo pasta is made with fettuccine in a creamy parmesan sauce, topped with sauteed garlic shrimp. An easy dinner that tastes like it came from a fancy restaurant!

Shrimp Alfredo

fettuccine pasta

butter (divided use)

parmesan cheese

salt and pepper

shrimp (peeled and deveined, tails removed if desired)

garlic

parsley

Cook the pasta in salted water according to package directions.

Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium low heat.&nbsp;

Add the cream and simmer for 4-5 minutes or until just thickened - do not boil.

Whisk in the parmesan cheese, stirring continuously, until cheese has melted.&nbsp;

Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.

Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large pan over medium high heat.&nbsp;

Add the shrimp to the pan and season with salt and pepper.&nbsp;

Cook the shrimp for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until shrimp are pink and opaque.

Add the garlic to the pan and cook for an additional 30 seconds.

Drain the pasta and toss with the alfredo sauce. Arrange the shrimp on top and sprinkle with parsley, then serve.

Ultimate Shrimp Alfredo

Fettuccine

butter

heavy cream (UK double cream)

Parmesan cheese (plus more for serving)

Cook the pasta in salted water until just underdone.

Meanwhile, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat.

Saute the shrimp for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until shrimp are pink and opaque.

Add the garlic and cook another minute.  Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.

Using the same pan, heat the cream over low-medium heat.

Add the remaining butter and whisk gently until melted. Mix in the cheese. Season with freshly grated black pepper.

Drain the pasta, reserving 2 cups pasta cooking liquid. Add it to the pan with the cooked shrimp, gently toss to coat in the Alfredo sauce (adding some of the pasta water if needed to loosen).

Top with more grated cheese and chopped parsley. Serve immediately.

It’s February 7th and that means only one thing: It’s Fettuccine Alfredo Day. To celebrate this wonderful culinary invention, I’ll share my own take on Fettuccine Alfredo in this version, with shrimp with bacon (no butter required).

shrimp

lemon juice

bacon,

cherry tomatoes, halved

olive oil

shallot (or onion)

flat leaf parsley, chopped

sage

chili pepper flakes

Parmigiano Reggiano,

Pecorino Romano,

salt and pepper (each)

Thaw, clean, and rinse shrimp and pat dry with paper towels. Season with salt and freshly cracked pepper, squeeze some lemon juice over, and put in the fridge.

Cook bacon your favorite way (mine is baked) and chop

Cook pasta in salted water, set some pasta water aside, rinse pasta under cold water

Heat a tablespoon olive oil over medium heat and add shrimp and garlic. Stir constantly for about 3 minutes, but make sure garlic doesn’t brown and turn bitter and inedible. Lower heat as necessary. Remove shrimp and garlic, but leave all the bits and juices.

Add another tablespoon olive oil. Use a wooden spoon to scrape everything loose from the bottom of the pan.

Add shallots and tomatoes, season with salt and pepper (just a pinch each), and stir for two minutes.

Add heavy cream and hot chili pepper flakes, and stir for another three minutes. Adjust heat so that heavy cream is bubbling but not boiling.

Add cooked pasta back to the pan; let it absorb the cream and reheat for a minute.

Toss shrimp and garlic back in the pan, and add parsley, sage and bacon. 

Add grated cheeses and lazily stir all ingredients for about 2 minutes. As the cheese melts, it emulsifies the liquid to form a smooth and rich coating on the pasta. If it’s too thick, add some of the pasta water you set aside earlier.

Serve and garnish with some more parsley and maybe even some more grated Parmigiano Reggiano

That plate would’ve been cleaned in seconds. I don’t think this could look any better.
