Crockpot Grits

Cheddar cheese

black pepper (to taste)

Lightly spray inside of a 6-quart crockpot with cooking spray.

Stir together grits, salt and water in the crockpot. Cover and cook on LOW for 7-8 hours.

Remove lid. Scatter butter on top. Use a whisk to stir the grits until they are an even consistency and the butter has melted.

Sprinkle cheese on top and add pepper to taste.

In a large dutch oven, (ad) boil water, then add grits, salt, and butter.

Cover and simmer grits until tender (about 30 minutes). Stir frequently during this time.

Add a little water if needed and stir to prevent scorching.

Remove from heat and fold in pimento cheese.

Add dried parsley and garlic powder.

Stir in half and half.

Salt to taste if needed.

Stir well and pour into individual bowls.

Garnish with a scoop of pimento cheese and shredded cheddar.

(4 ounces) grated cheddar cheese

Kosher salt and black pepper,

In a large saucepan, bring broth and milk to a boil over medium-high heat. Whisk in the grits; season with salt and pepper to taste.

Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook (whisking often) until the liquid is absorbed, about 35-40 minutes.

Remove from heat, stir in cheese and butter. Taste and season with additional salt and pepper, if necessary.
