Stewed Cinnamon Apples made with just three ingredients are great for breakfast or dessert.  Serve them warm or cold on top of oats, yoghurt, ice cream or custard.  Make a big batch and keep in the fridge or freezer to use throughout the week.

Peel and dice apples into fairly uniform pieces.  

Place a small saucepan or skillet on low...

Place a small saucepan or skillet on low heat, and add water, apples, cinnamon and maple syrup.  Cook, stirring regularly, for 10 minutes or until the apples have softened.  Add more water to the saucepan if needed.

These Cinnamon Apples taste like a warm apple pie, but they come together in 15 minutes on the stovetop! This cinnamon apples recipe makes a perfect breakfast, pancake topper, snack, or light dessert.

Easy Cinnamon Apples Recipe

apples ((about 3 cups, chopped))

water

TBS salted butter ((or coconut oil))

maple syrup

cinnamon

fine sea salt

¼ tsp pure vanilla extract

Cut apples into same-sized pieces (about ½-1” cubes).

Put apples pieces into a skillet with 2 TBS water. Cover the pan and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples become slightly soft and water is absorbed.

Add 1 TBS of butter to the skillet. Stir apples and oil together until all the apples are coated. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring every minute or so, until the apples become soft (you may need to cover them for the last 2 minutes).

Add Maple syrup, cinnamon, salt and vanilla. Stir until well mixed.

Cook for about 5 more minutes, stirring every minute until the apples reach your desired softness!

Remove from heat and serve!

Peel, core and slice the apples and set aside.

Bring the water, candy and sugar to a boil in a large saucepan over medium high heat. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer until candy has dissolved.

Add the apples. Simmer uncovered until the apples are tender, about five minutes. Remove the apples from the heat and allow them to cool slightly before serving. For a deeper red color, let the apples continue to soak in the syrup for several hours.

Remove the apples with a slotted spoon into serving dishes. Drizzle any remaining syrup over the top.

You can’t know how happy I am to find your recipe! My Grandmother always made them, but I’m sure she didn’t have a written recipe. I even bought the red hots, and was going to experiment, but never have. Thank you so much!
