Turmeric Broth Detox Soup - a naturally healing, soothing and comforting, Ayurvedic soup that is very customizable to your needs. Vegan and GF adaptable!

Turmeric Broth Detox Soup

olive oil

onion- diced

ginger,

4-5 garlic cloves- grated or finely minced

turmeric powder

mustard seed (optional)

cumin

coriander

salt

water

stock

¼ teaspoon cayenne, or more to taste

Squeeze of lime juice or lemon juice apple cider vinegar

basmati rice (dry)

½ cup little dry lentils (or 1 cup cooked)

garbanzo beans (or canned, drained)

tomatoes

cilantro leaves

chickpeas (or chicken)

dry noodles

cauliflower

kale

lime

In a large heavy bottom pot or dutch oven,  saute onion in 1-2 T olive oil over medium heat for 5 minutes until fragrant and golden. Add ginger, garlic, and fresh turmeric and saute  2-3 minutes until eh garlic is fragrant and golden.  Add the mustard seeds, cumin, coriander, and optional turmeric power and saute 1-2 more minutes.

Add water, stock and salt. Bring to a simmer. Add vinegar or citrus. (I like a squeeze of lime) Taste. Adjust salt, lime and spice level to your liking. At this point you will have a flavorful base to add what you like. You can also refrigerate or freeze this in batches for later use.

Remember uncooked pasta and beans will double or triple in size, so add moderately ( 4 ounces dry pasta)

Remember to think and be sensible about cooking times for each ingredient you add. (see notes in post )

Awesome soup for after indulging in too many sweets over the holidays. I added green beans, shiitake mushrooms, spinach, and odon noodles.

I made the Mediterranean eastern ‘minestrone’ but omitted the rice/grains and added an extra cup of lentils instead to thicken it! I also added two large, finely chopped carrots and some flat leaf parsley along with the cilantro! Both myself and hubby love it. It will now be in my rotation of feasting at home recipes 💫 thanks Sylvia and give your dad a big virtual hug 🤗

Love this!  I tried it last night when I was desiring something tasty, soothing and nourishing.  It was perfect.  I wanted to keep it super light so I just added rice and steamed broccoli.  My husband loved it too.  As a bonus - we have yummy leftovers, which always feels like a gift to my future self.  This broth is my new go to when I want a light, warming meal.

Sylvia: You hit it out of the park again! I have made many of your recipes and commented on a few, always outstanding. The turmeric detox broth I made last night was a total life changer though. After 10 full days of severe stomach flu, I had ice chipped and plain brothed food back into my body to the point I could slowly sip your detox broth to take in actual nutrition. I had about two cups and cried as I felt my cells come to life, then slept for 14 hours. I feel so cared for today as my body moves forward after the broth. My gratitude is boundless today. Turmeric Detox Broth

Cozy, bright, and healing with power-foods like turmeric, cauliflower, and cashews. Topped with crispy chickpeas. Super creamy and SO GOOD.

Golden Soup

onion,

garlic, chopped

cashews

turmeric – see notes

lemon juice

Sauté

Heat the oil in a deep soup pot. Add the onion, garlic, cauliflower, cashews, and turmeric. Sauté for 10 minutes or until very fragrant.

Simmer

 Add the water (I usually start with 4 cups) and salt. Simmer until softened.

Blend

Transfer the soup to a blender and blend into a creamy consistency. It&#8217;s best to do this in batches.

Finish

Return to the soup pot and add any additional water (remaining 2-3 cups) if you need to thin it out. Also a good time to season with more salt and a squeeze of lemon juice. Also a good time to top with spiced chickpeas and parsley and olive oil and more salt and put on your most comfy sweater and FALL IN LOVE. ♡

This is delicious! Thanks. Forgot the lemon and seasoning at the end but as soon as that was added it came to life. And it was silky smooth even with just a hand blender. 

Quick question... is the calorie count with the crunchy chickpeas? If not, how many extra calories is it to add those.

I made this the other night, didn't soak the cashews beforehand and used an immersion blender and still got a smooth and silky soup! I think since you add the cashews at the beginning they soften up enough to be blended nicely. It was delicious!

I'm going to try this because I'm eating healthier now. I had weight loss surgery back in August &amp; I'm doing wonderful &amp; feel great. This detox sweet potato turmeric soup is healthy in the best kind of way. It&#39;s chock-full of naturally anti-inflammatory and flavorful ingredients like turmeric, ginger, and garlic, and made creamy with almond butter and coconut milk. It&#39;s a warming, feel-good soup for cooler-weather days, or anytime your body&#39;s craving something easy to digest. It&#39;s simple to make and reheat, and is ready in under 30 minutes!

Sweet Potato Turmeric Soup

coconut oil

onion

ginger

garlic (peeled and smashed with the side of your knife)

sweet potato

carrots (chopped)

EACH: turmeric and sea salt

EACH: black pepper and cayenne pepper

chicken stock (or beef bone broth)

almond butter

coconut milk

cilantro (to serve)

almonds

soy sauce (can sub gluten-free or coco aminos)

saute vegetables

Add the coconut oil to a large pot over medium-high heat. When it melts, add the onion and let it cook for 3-4 minutes. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for 1 more minute. Mix in the sweet potato, carrots, turmeric (see notes), sea salt, black pepper, and cayenne.

add stock

Add the stock to the pot and bring the pot to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer, partially covered, for 10 minutes, or until the vegetables are soft.

toast almonds

Make the almond croutons while the soup cooks. Heat the coconut oil in a small pan over medium-high heat. Add the chopped almonds and toast until fragrant and golden, about 5 minutes, shaking the pan a few times. Add the soy sauce to the pan and let it boil until it&#39;s gone and the almonds are coated. Remove the pan from the heat.

blend

Transfer the soup to your blender, add the almond butter, and blend until smooth.

Finish soup

Pour the soup back into the pot, add the coconut milk and lime juice. Season to taste with salt and heat through. Serve the turmeric soup topped with salty almond croutons and a little minced cilantro.

turkey meat (cubed)

Peel and dice onion

Trim celery ribs and dice. Peel carrots and dice. Measure 1 cup of each.

Core cabbage and cut into shreds. Trim mushroom stems and slice into 1/4&quot; pieces.

Cube leftover (boneless, skinless) turkey meat.

PREP:

Heat a large soup pot over medium heat. Once hot, add oil along with diced onion, celery, carrot, fresh thyme and a pinch of salt.&nbsp;Cook 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until vegetables begin to soften and onion is aromatic.

Add turmeric, salt, pepper, shredded cabbage and mushrooms and stir to coat.Cook 5 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage and mushrooms begin to reduce.&nbsp;

Add broth, bay leaf and handful of parsley. Bring to a boil. Once boiling, immediately reduce heat to a simmer, add cubed turkey, cover and simmer on low for 15 minutes.

When ready to serve, fish out the bay leaf, parsley and thyme stems. Serve and Enjoy!

COOK:

A soothing noodle soup with a flavorful miso, garlic, ginger-infused broth. Includes immune-supporting benefits for healing, inflammation, and cold &amp; flu season.

Healing Turmeric Noodle Soup

vegetable broth

pasta (I use quinoa & brown rice spaghetti noodles)

garlic

Tbsp. fresh ginger, grated (about a 1 inch piece)

Tbsp. white miso paste

turmeric (more to taste)

peas (I use frozen)

baby spinach

Optional additions: black pepper,

In a large saucepan over high heat, pour vegetable broth and bring to a boil.

Meanwhile, mince garlic and grate ginger. (I use a microplane grater for ginger.)

When broth is boiling, add garlic, ginger, miso,* turmeric, peas, and pasta. (If using spaghetti noodles, I like to break them up in smaller pieces before adding.)

Return to a light boil. Then reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes or until pasta is cooked.

Stir in spinach during last minute of cooking.

Taste and add additional miso if desired.

So both my husband and I came down sick this week (with the virus that won’t be named for the first time 😷) and I came across this recipe on my favourite website (aka The Garden Grazer) and I figured this was a fabulous time to try this recipe.  I added diced mushrooms and black pepper and only had chickpea linguine, but otherwise followed the recipe as written.  This was really yummy!  We both really enjoyed it! So I made this soup yesterday because my daughter cane down with a slight cold. I doubled it because I knew I’d want some too. OMG! She enjoyed it, but I literally woke up THIS MORNING thinking about it. I want some NOW and it’s 7:30am! This will be a staple soup in our home from now on. SO GOOD and super simple!

The most decadent, sheet pan roasted butternut squash soup! It starts off with one pan of vegetables blended with broth and coconut milk or heavy cream.

Roasted Butternut Squash Soup

butternut squash

yellow onion (roughly chopped)

garlic bulb (cut

nutmeg

extra-virgin olive oil (plus more for serving)

coconut milk (or heavy cream)

kosher salt, sugar and black pepper (to taste)

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. On a sheet tray or pan, add your cubed butternut squash, onion, garlic head (with peel on cut in half), pinch of nutmeg, thyme, kosher salt, pepper and extra-virgin olive oil. Mix well and cook for about 30 to 40 minutes until all your vegetables are fork tender.

Transfer to a blender, and squeeze your roasted garlic out and discard the peel. Blend with coconut milk and broth until creamy.

Adjust with kosher salt, pepper and a pinch of sugar as needed. Top with coconut drizzle, some fresh thyme and black pepper. Serve!

Lemon Turmeric Lentil Soup

(340 grams) brown or green lentils, picked and rinsed.

olive oil.

onion, finely chopped.

carrot, chopped.

garlic, minced.

cumin.

coriander.

turmeric.

black pepper,

chicken or vegetable broth.

lemons.

Sea salt

Cook Vegetables

Heat oil in large pot. Cook onions and carrots with salt until soft and sweet, 5-7 minutes.

Add Spices

Stir in garlic, cumin, coriander, pepper, and turmeric. Cook 30 seconds.

Cook Lentils

Add lentils and broth. Bring to boil, then simmer partially covered 35-40 minutes until lentils are tender.

Add Greens

Stir in kale or spinach and cook uncovered 5 minutes.

Remove from heat. Add lemon juice and herbs. Season to taste with salt and additional lemon.
