My favorite delicious healthy hot chocolate recipe that&#039;s both vegan and dairy free! This healthy hot chocolate recipe is made with a mix of both coconut milk + almond milk and naturally sweetened with pure maple syrup. The perfect nightcap during the chilly winter months!

Healthy Hot Chocolate

light coconut milk (from the can)

almond milk

vanilla extract

maple syrup

unsweetened cocoa powder (I use Ghirardelli’s 100% unsweetened cocoa powder)

sea salt

Add all ingredients to a small pot and place over medium low heat. Whisk vigorously to combine and to get rid of any lumps of cocoa. Do NOT let the hot chocolate boil or you risk burning the almond milk, which can turn the flavor into something you do not want. Simply warm in the pot until steamy, about 3-5 minutes.

Once hot chocolate is hot, remove from heat and pour into 2 mugs. Top with whipped cream, dairy free whipped cream, marshmallows or vegan marshmallows. Chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder on top are fun too! Enjoy!

Creamy Vegan Hot Chocolate

(15 oz) can unsweetened coconut milk, I used lite

cocoa powder

cane sugar

coconut sugar

vegan chocolate chips

To a large pot, add the almond milk, coconut milk, cocoa powder, cane sugar and coconut sugar. Place over medium heat and bring to a simmer, stirring frequently.

Once hot chocolate is warm, add the chocolate chips, vanilla extract and sea salt. Cook until chocolate chips are fully melted and hot chocoalte is desired temperature.

Enjoy immediately. Top with your favorite vegan whipped topping, marshmallows and shaved chocolate.

This healthy oat milk hot cocoa is so creamy and easy to make. It is made with simple, plant-based ingredients which make it vegan, dairy-free, and naturally gluten-free. You can make this cozy hot chocolate on the stove or in the microwave in less than 5 minutes! It tastes like chocolate cake donuts.

Oat Milk Hot Cocoa

oat milk

cinnamon (or nutmeg)

salt (optional)

marshmallows

coconut whipped cream

Heat oat milk.

Add the oat milk to a small saucepan over low to medium heat. Cook for 2-3 minutes to heat the milk, but do not let it boil.

Stir in cacao, syrup, cinnamon, and salt.

Add the cacao powder, maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and pinch of salt. Stir continuously until dissolved, about 2-3 minutes.

Remove from heat and pour into mug.

Remove from the heat and pour the hot cocoa into a mug. Top with dairy-free coconut whipped cream, vegan marshmallows, or a dash of cinnamon if desired.

Add extra maple syrup for a sweeter drink.

If you&#39;d like sweeter hot cocoa, stir in an additional tablespoon of maple syrup.

I served this with a dollop of frothy soymilk on top.

Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate

non-dairy milk

pumpkin

3/4-1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

stevia or other sweetener

Combine all ingredients except sweetener in blender. Blend at medium speed until smooth. Check sweetness and add sweetener to taste; blend once more.

Pour into a saucepan or microwaveable container and heat, stirring at regular intervals, until steaming. Pour into two mugs and serve.

I've been under the weather this Thanksgiving and wasn't able to enjoy many of my favorites. So I made this today - feeling better and craving both pumpkin pie and hot chocolate - and what a treat! I didn't bother with the blender - just whisked it while it heated - and used oat milk. I added maple syrup while it was steaming and then additional regular white sugar to my cup. :-)  It would be amazing with a whipped topping. I'll be making it again for sure. Thanks!

Oh, Susan – Just a day late with this idea to use the leftover pumpkin from the muffin recipe. I made the muffins the same day you posted the recipe (yummilicious) and then what to do with the leftover pumpkin? Well, I had Mary McDougall’s recipe for Beans and Greens soup in the fridge waiting for dinnertime, so I just added the pumpkin to the soup! Voila – delicious.
