Export 6 ingredients for grocery delivery
Step 1
Use an apple peeler to peel the skins off each apple. Cut apples in half, then into ½ inch wedges.
Step 2
Whisk together the flour, apple pie spice and 4 Tablespoons of cinnamon in a medium bowl.
Step 3
Transfer the flour mixture into a large bowl or container with a lid then add in the apple wedges.
Step 4
Place the lid on the container then shake vigorously to coat all sides of the apples.
Step 5
Use a large slotted spoon to remove the apple wedges from the container. Shake off the excess flour mixture and place the wedges on a plate to prepare them for dredging. Don't get rid of the flour mixture in the container, we'll use it again in a minute .
Step 6
In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and vanilla extract.
Step 7
Dredge a few apples at a time into the egg mixture.
Step 8
Return the wedges to the excess flour mixture in the container and shake them all again to create a second coating.
Step 9
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and remaining 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, set aside.
Step 10
Spray the air fryer basket with olive oil nonstick spray then add the coated apple fries to the air fryer basket in a single layer (you will need to make these in two batches).
Step 11
Liberally spray the top facing apples with olive oil spray then sprinkle half of the brown sugar/cinnamon coating on top of each apple then cook for 6 minutes at 350F degrees.
Step 12
Open the basket, flip the apples, spray then with nonstick spray and sprinkle with the rest of the cinnamon sugar mixture and cook for an additional 6 minutes.
Step 13
Serve with caramel sauce or a simple powdered sugar glaze, if desired.
