Step 1

In a small, bowl, combine the sage, salt, ground black pepper, marjoram, brown sugar, crushed red pepper, and cloves. Mix well.

Step 2

Place the pork in a large bowl and add the mixed spices to it. Mix well.

Step 3

Saute in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned or the internal temperature of the pork reaches 160°F.

Step 4

Remove the pork from the pan and set it aside as you make the gravy.

Step 5

To the same skillet, leaving the sausage drippings, add butter.

Step 6

After the butter has melted, add flour and whisk to combine. Cook 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown.

Step 7

Whisk in milk, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder. Cook and stir until thickened and hot.

Step 8

Add crumbled sausage; season with salt and pepper. Cook until heated through.

Step 9

Serve warm over freshly baked buttermilk biscuits.
