No drippings are needed for this very simple and super quick homemade brown gravy that's perfect for mashed potatoes, meatloaf or even French fries. You'll never use packet gravy again.

Brown Gravy

beef stock

cornstarch

onion powder

soy sauce

beef bouillon cube, crushed

heavy cream

Food Network Kitchen’s Brown Gravy, as seen on Food Network.

Whisk together the beef stock, cornstarch, onion powder, soy sauce and bouillon cube in a medium saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, whisking occasionally, and cook until slightly thickened, about 1 minute. Turn off the heat and whisk in the heavy cream.

Wonderful! I added a little pepper and used half ‘n half instead of cream and it was so great!

Best easiest gravy ever.  I put some mushrooms in mine. It was so delicious. 

Love this as a base recipe. I had “better than bouillon” so made a stock from that. Once it cooled, I followed the recipe except for the soy. I went with 1/2 tsp soy 1/2 tsp Worcestershire. Served over turkey meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Perfect gravy and very simple

I never make the gravy for family events and leave that task to others.  With our Covid Thanksgiving I had no one to delegate to and decided to give it a try with this recipe.   It was phenomenal tasting.  I used better than bouillon to both make the beef stock and as the “cube” and it turned out perfectly.  

I’m very happy to have found this recipe. This is my first time making gravy. It was easy and delicious. Instead of soy sauce I used Worcestershire sauce. I’ll definitely use this recipe again. 

This is the first gravy recipe I've followed which actually came out right for me to serve. Lol I will use this gravy recipe again
