In a heavy-bottomed tall pot, melt the sugar.

Keep an eye on the sugar

Warm the milk separately

Step 4

Scoop the liquid sugar over the solid sugar

Step 5

Remove the pot from the heat and add the milk

Step 6

Assess if the caramel is ready or needs to be returned to the stove

Step 7

Add in the salt

Step 8

Store in a heat-proof container
