Treat your party guests to a classic Southern spread with deviled eggs, spiced pecans, ham, cheese and fresh fruit with this festive party board. We've included a combination of homemade and store-bought ingredients for an abundant board that doesn't take too long to assemble. A note on nutrition: This board is hearty enough to stand in for dinner or lunch, but if you're planning on serving it as an appetizer before the main meal, go light on things like nuts, crackers and cheese dip to keep sodium and calories in check.

(8 ounce) log chèvre

pepper jelly

recipe Lady & Larder's Deviled Eggs (see Associated Recipes)

peach (or other summer stone fruit), sliced

Place cornichons, mustard and cheese dip in separate small bowls. Place ch&egrave;vre on a plate and top with pepper jelly. Arrange the bowls and plate on a large board, platter or tray along with pecans, deviled eggs, ham, peach (or other fruit) slices, cherries and crackers (or pretzels).


I made and served everything in this spread for a book club meeting with a southern book theme to some 18 ladies. I used a big tray to imitate the presentation and it was a big hit. All the recipes were easy to make and delicious. 

For me it is a big help to have a suggested menu such as this appetizer board. I don't have to select recipes and wonder if they will go together. I'm not a talented cook and  I appreciate  being shown that Deviled eggs  can  be served with Spiced Pecans and Pimiento Cheese and goat  cheese with pepper jelly along with smoked ham, crackers and pretzels. Since it is winter, I substituted the stone  fruit with small wedges of watermelon. Everything looked wonderful and tasted great.
