Cream Cheese Frosting

(8 ounces) cream cheese, softened

butter, softened

vanilla extract

salt, optional

confectioners' sugar

This is a great, basic cream cheese frosting recipe! I flavored mine with lemon juice and lemon zest - YUM!

I thought this recipe was delicious. The perfect amount of cream cheese and powdered sugar. I have used it on cakes and cookies. I can just eat it by itself with a spoon. Yummy!

It called for 8oz cream cheese someone said 3. Also it called for 3-3/4 to 4 cups confectioners sugar someone else had said 5 or 6 cups. Lol... I used a little less than 3 cups confectioners sugar and added in orange gelatin so to ice an orange dreamsicle cake.  And OMGOSH perfect and soooooo yummy. Thank you so much for sharing.

Someone stated on here different amounts of cream cheese & confectioners sugar than dusted in the ingredients. I didn't see that. The orange addition sounds awesome! I never thought of trying different flavorings! Sounds awesome! *They had me at Orange Dreamsicle!??*

Wonderful flavor, this is the only cream cheese frosting I use. I use an 8oz cream cheese instead of 2, 3oz pkgs.  It is excellent on home made cinnamon rolls.

This frosting was a huge hit! It has definitely become my cream cheese frosting staple.

Perfect cream cheese frosting.   I did add a couple splashes of milk to thin it out and it turned out great.

This frosting, even with 6 cups of powdered sugar, was too loose for my use. I used real cream cheese, so I know it's not the fat content. I'll eat it as a spread because it is tasty, but I'll use another recipe for a cake frosting.

Classic cream cheese frosting!   I accidentally used I need ounce block of cream cheese and still  turned out with beautiful soft love the cream cheese.   Perfect for using on two Bundt cakes.  It can also easily frost two pans of brownies.  As a volunteer field editor with Taste of Home magazine  I enjoy using recipes that are time-tested and family approved!

this was a awesome base recipe and i have added many different flavors to this, my favorite is a hint of lemon zest.

The frosting is so simple to make and I will definitely make this again.
