★★★★★ ★★★★★ 1 out of 5 stars. Nyesspresso · 6 months ago Not fine enough Coffe for espresso machines should be ground finer this is too coarse. Recommends this product ✘ No Helpful? If you want espresso you need to buy it from a specialty roaster. (I ran out of my normal so I was desperate) I'm not sure if they intend for this to be drip only coffee and just call it espresso or not. This is in no way what they serve in their store. Do not put this in an espresso machine and expect good results. (Whole bean version ground fresh in my bur grinder) Recommends this product ✘ No Helpful? Compared to other coffees you can get in the same price range, this one misses the mark and carries the price tag because of the Starbucks name. After cupping this coffee I can verify it is one of my least favorite coffees I've had in a while. I'm not a fan of dark roasts usually, with a couple exceptions, but this is the reason why. Starbucks has roasted this coffee beyond recognition, ruining the hard work of their farmers and suppliers by burning their coffee so harshly that the taste us unrecognizable. This is the reason the beans are so oily, by the way. Nevertheless, my theory for such a disgustingly dark roast is that they believe the long roast time will cover any inconsistencies while growing the coffee. i.e. complexities in altitude, reliable processing, excessive fermentation, etc. could cause different flavors in the coffee, therefore roasting it so hard that there is no flavor will fix it right up. It's pretty shocking how dark this coffee is, but compared to the raw shoe rubber flavor of their Italian roast, at least this one is bearable. Recommends this product ✘ No Helpful? Something has changed, the coffee is bitter. Did Starbucks change the coffee supplier? If so, please change back Recommends this product ✘ No Helpful? Now when I buy them and open the bag the beans smell horrible and the coffee they make is nothing like it was a few years ago. I’m done with Starbucks after this most recent purchase. There are too many other good coffee roasters out there putting out a much better product. Recommends this product ✘ No Helpful? Yes · 17 No · 3 REPORT ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 1 out of 5 stars. Redschnizel · 3 years ago Burnt and un-usable for espresso or latte Very oily, burnt, black shiny colour, with pronounced taste and smelling over-rosted. Same price as decent local fresh roasted coffee, or top Lavazza, so I sugest a super crema or local small shop coffee. Very disappointed, this 400g $18 dollars package will go to garbage. I specifically asked the barista at the shop if this is the coffee they use in their machines, and she said yes. Didn't have worst coffee in my Rocket espresso machine, and now I have to open and wash my Profitec grinder as I cant stand the burnt taste lingering in my espresso. I bought Espresso Roast, glad to be able to get good beans for a change without having to drive 20 minutes. When I opened the bag the grind was large, like for a coffee maker. Why would espresso be ground for drip coffee? If you want dark roast, there are other options, this should be ground finer, otherwise it's a waste. Recommends this product ✘ No Helpful?
