Whisk 1/4 cup honey, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar, and 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes if using together in a small bowl.

Step 2

Heat 2 teaspoons neutral oil in a small saucepan over medium heat until shimmering. Add 4 minced garlic cloves and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Whisk in the honey mixture. (If you’d like a thicker sauce, whisk 1/4 cup water and 2 teaspoons cornstarch together, then whisk into the sauce at this point.)

Step 3

Cook, whisking occasionally, until bubbling rapidly and the foam darkens slightly in color, 1 to 2 minutes.
