Step 1
Add the flour and salt to a large bowl.
Step 2
Add the eggs and half of the milk. Whisk until well mixed.
Step 3
Add the rest of the milk and whisk again. You should have a smooth and very runny batter.

Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
Step 5
If making apple pancakes, slice the apple into 5mm thick slices.
Step 6
Heat a large (300mm diameter) frying pan and add some butter.
Step 7
For heat-resistant toppings such as bacon or apple, add the topping to the pan.
Step 8
Using a ladle, add enough batter for one pancake, and swirl so that it covers the whole bottom of the pan. Try to cover the topping.
Step 9
Once the top of the pancake has dried up (± 2min), flip the pancake over.
Step 10
For non-heat-resistant toppings such as cheese, add the topping to the pancake.
Step 11
Bake until the bottom is browned (± 2min). Serve right away, or stack on a plate to serve several pancakes simultaneously.

If using apple as topping, sprinkle some cinnamon and powdered/icing sugar or golden syrup on top.
Step 13
Alternatively, you can serve the pancakes without topping and let your guests add powdered/icing sugar, golden syrup, apple butter or honey themselves.
