I have been making this recipe for almost 10 years and it is still a 5-star rating with my family!  To stretch this meal even farther (and add in some nutrition), I like to double the recipe and add in a can of drained and rinsed lentils.  They blend so well with the meat and sauce mixture, they practically go unnoticed.  Any leftover filling also freezes really well!  I use an ice cream scoop to scoop servings onto a parchment lined baking sheet and freeze.  Once frozen, transfer the scoops to a freezer bag and you have easy portioned sandwich filling for quick meals.

I used tomato sauce instead of ketchup as some people suggested. We loved it. Reminded me of sloppy Joe’s my Mom made growing up.

We absolutely love this recipe. Been using it now for about 7 years. I have a picky household (3 girls and a wife) and they won’t eat a lot of things. We have searched high and low for a sloppy Joe recipe and my wife found this one and she was in love at first taste. Even our girls love it!

Just made this for my family and we put it on top of our baked potatoes. Everyone liked it. But, I thought it was too sweet for my taste. My family liked it sweet, which means mom is overruled next time we make this. So, if you are sensitive to sweetness you may want to start on the light side and add as you go.

I have hated Sloppy Joes all my life. (66yrs).  My daughter made these and insisted I try them.  These are really good and now I make them a lot.  All the grandkids eat this recipe.  Highly recommend!

Though I find it has a tiny bit more ketchup then necessary, it left a slight ketchup after taste. And all this after already lowering the amount of ketchup.

This recipe looks a lot like what my friend's mom made for her birthday party every year. The only thing different, I think, was she added a can of Heinz tomato soup and less ketchup. I've tried making her recipe from memory as she didn't remember when asked.  It's that one flavor I need to find. lol

I added chopped onion and orange bell pepper; the flavor was good but not quite what I was accustomed to.  I should've added a smidge of allspice to the mixture and will do so next time.  all-in-all, the recipe was good and a welcome respite from all of the recipes that call for BBQ sauce in sloppy joes, yuck!

I added chopped onions to the beef and topped sandwiches with American cheese slices. So good!

New favorite sloppy Joes recipe. Quick and easy! Simple enough that my hubby usually makes it. Which makes it all the better!

If you dont' put chopped onion or green pepper with a little heat, it's just one note flavor.

Entirely too sweet!  If you make start with a teaspoon of the brown sugar.  Taste and add as you go if you feel you need more sugar.

This looks just as easy as using canned sloppy joe sauce, but, I don't have to go to the store- I have all of the ingredients necessary in my pantry!! Thank you for simplifying tonight's dinner!!!

Out of fear of being that guy, I'd like to mention that I adjusted this recipe ever so slightly and it still turned out fantastic. I substituted beef broth for the water and used 90/10 ground beef and didn't drain it. I also followed the note in the tips to add a small amount of corn starch. I feel like it could use a little more seasoning but I'm not sure what it's missing. I'd likely use something like Red Pepper Flakes if I weren't also cooking this for my 5 year old daughter. But solid recipe!

Just like my mother's recipe, except hers calls for 3 tsp. cider vinegar.  It gives it a "tang" that makes a huge difference.
