Slow-Cooked Green Beans

french-style green beans (about 48 ounces), thawed

butter, melted

brown sugar

garlic salt

soy sauce

Both hubby and I really enjoyed this recipe.  I used garlic powder instead of the garlic salt. Really down sized the amounts for just us 2.  I used fresh green beans which i sliced down the middle. Baked at 250, covered for 1-1/2 hours.  Fabulous. Volunteer Field Editor.

Green Beans are by far my favorite veggie. I wanted to make this ahead of Thanksgiving so my extended family didnt end up being my guinea pigs. Sure glad I did. I reduced the recipe in half so I gave some credit for that. This was not very good at all.  Who doesnt like brown sugar butter green beans and soy sauce? Usually nobody. I double checked my ingredients and measurements and they were spot on but not this dish.

Add some lemon juice to cut the sweetness of the brown sugar. While you're at it, add the zest of the lemon for a really awesome flavor.

go to for any family gathering!  i use 4 cans of french cut green beans, drained and rinsed to cut down on the sodium; all other ingredients as noted; never take any home 'cuz they eat them all!

Wasn't crazy about the sweetness of the brown sugar. Just not our thing. I'm sure they're other people's favorite. I'd rather have traditional green bean casserole. But thanks for sharing your recipe.

These were wonderful!  Will be making for Thanksgiving this year.  Used three 16 oz. packages of frozen green beans.  My store did not have french-style so used the thin extra long green beans.  Great recipe to free up oven space and cooking time for the big day!

I used 4 12 oz bags of green beans. Two French style and two regular cut. These beans were very easy and making it in the slow cooker made it very convenient for thanksgiving.  I used four cloves of fresh garlic that I saut?ed in the butter and added thin sliced almonds. Everyone liked the beans, but felt that I should have doubled the sauce. We really couldn't taste the the sauce, but there were a lot of beans to cover. I will try these again. Thank you for sharing!

This is such an easy way to fix a side dish—especially for a big meal like Thanksgiving or Christmas!  Very tasty; however, my family felt they were too sweet, so now I cut down on the sugar and add a splash more soy sauce and they are perfect!

Easy and good! I divided the recipe in half for my family.

I used the big can of Cut Green Beans from Sam's and drained them.  Placed in Crock Pot, mixed the stick of melted butter, brown sugar, soy sauce and garlic salt together and poured over them.  Set it on low for 2 and half hours. So easy. They were delicious!  Wouldn't change a thing!

I used fresh green beans.  I steamed them for 6 minutes in the microwave and then put them in the crock pot. so easy to make.  I added an onion and some ginger for even more flavor.  My family ate the whole thing.  Will definitely make these again

I reduced all of the quantities by 2/3  to feed my small family: 16-oz. bag of French-cut frozen green beans,  2 tbsp. brown sugar, 2 tbsp. melted butter, 1/2 tsp. garlic salt and 1/4 tsp. soy sauce.  This amount fits perfectly into a 1 1/2-quart slow cooker.  I've made it a few times now and have decided that everyone likes it better if I go scanty on the brown sugar and add just a dribble of additional soy sauce.  I love that you can start it early and forget about it while you're preparing other dishes.

I had the time and space so I cooked this recipe on the stovetop, making enough for 2.  I only added 1/4 teaspoon of brown sugar, garlic salt, and soy.  Also added 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger as one reviewer suggested.  We cleaned our plates; so delicious!!!

When you are busy serving a large crowd this is the perfect dish!
