The Ultimate Coleslaw

mayonnaise

Dijon mustard

olive oil

lemon, juiced

Salt and black pepper

red wine vinegar

sugar

store-bought bag shredded slaw mix (containing red and green cabbage

In a large bowl, mix together the dressing ingredients. Add the shredded slaw mix and toss until combined.

LOVE IT!! We use it every time, especially with fish tacos. We have made it for our family reunions and everyone loves it. 

Way too much dressing / too much mayo. I went back to the store for another bag of shredded cabbage and it was still too soupy. (And I am a mayo fan)

I’ve been making this recipe for years.  It’s quick, easy , tangy and delicious every time.  This recipe never disappoints and always gets rave reviews.

Unfortunately, I was not a fan. There was too much mayo for me and I like mayo.

I've used this recipe over a dozen times and I love it! Using finely shredded cabbage and carrots and onions is key. I personally go light on the dressing..

I liked it.  It is different from what I’m used to.  I think it’s the dijion mustard that really changes the flavor.  I would make this again but it’s not “the” one I’m looking for.

Sweet and a little bitter and not at all dry. Great slaw for pulled pork sliders!

This is the beat Cole slaw recipe I have found. It’s simple and delicious! I do double the amount of cabbage, because I like my slaw to be a little less mayonnaise-y. 

So this is actually my go to coleslaw (I didn’t realize it was a real recipe). The only difference is I use Apple cider vinegar instead. Regardless, this coleslaw is so simple yet so very awesome. Always a huge hit!

I really like this one. It's quick, easy and everyone really likes  it. My only change is I use a tablespoon of powdered sugar. I think it blends better. This is good the day you make it but it seems to get creamier after sitting for a day .

It's perfect. I made it to take to a BBQ, and it was a big hit.  I'll definitely be making it again. 

I added apple cider vinegar also, plus a small sprinkle of poppyseeds. The dressing was delicious.

Love, Love, Love this Coleslaw. It's easy, creamy, and tastes better if you make it a day ahead. I also used Apple Cider Viniger instead of the Red Wine Vinegar. 

This is now be my base coleslaw recipe.  After making it a few times, I think I have tweaked it to my liking.   I have learned to cut the lemon juice and red wine vinegar listed by half.  As listed, it comes across as too tangy, in my opinion.  With these changes, I'm able to serve this to others and get good reviews!

Best ever coleslaw, and so easy!  Even better than my all-time favorite slaws at three different restaurants.  

 I really like this recipe, simple and tasty.  I skipped the sugar and increased the red wine vinegar.  Served with cooked chicken thighs for a pleasant summer dinner.

Just made it this way to try a different way of having it. Very creamy, and Definitely can taste the Dijon. I used apple cider vinegar instead, and added celery seeds which is a must in any coleslaw in my book. Next time I'll try it without the mustard.

Just made it and it couldn't possibly have been easier...I used a 24 oz. bag of mixed, shredded cabbage &amp; carrot slaw.  It looked about right.

Delicious! I actually use two bags of cole slaw mix because the dressing goes a long way. Love it!

This was a quick and easy recipe and it was tasty.  As another reviewer stated, these are ingredients that I always have on hand therefore making it an "easy-go-to" recipe on a weeknight.

Now that I'm older and disabled I take shortcuts when I can.  I love coleslaw and can't eat BBQ without it.  I have been known to hit the drive-thru at KFC just for coleslaw!!  I decided to try this recipe today and I'm glad I did.  Much better than KFC and reminds me of my aunt's slaw.  I like that its creamy.  Used Apple Cider Vinegar since its my favorite.  Takes less than 5 minutes to whip up.  Can't get to KFC and back that fast!

Awesome recipe. I am trying new things today. I just got done smoking my first pork shoulder. Came out pretty good if I do say so myself. This coleslaw recipe is made it that much better. Quick and easy. Thanks Now time for a well deserved nap!

Easy, fresh and delicious.  Threw in a small amount of celery seed as well into dressing and a couple chopped green onions into cabbage mix.  Family favorite!

Real easy to make, which I like.  This is my go to cole slaw recipe from now on.

Excellent basic creamy coleslaw.  I use apple cider vinegar and have even substituted a splash of OJ if I did not have a lemon on hand.  I like to make it first thing in the morning and the favors come together by meal time.

I like the recipe.  Slaw taste very good.  I didn't have red wine vinegar, so I substituted with 2 tablespoons of malt vinegar.  I also added Dijon mustard.  Everything else kept the same.  

I've made this recipe several times now.  I love it.  I just added a twist, which makes it healthier.  I cut the mayo in half added plan greek probiotic yogurt.  I couldn't tell the difference.  

i substituted regular yellow mustard for the Dijon. And it tasted Wonderful. Never made coleslaw before, but I'm definitely keeping this recipe!  Thanks Tyler for providing it for us.

This was very good and so simple to do. I bought the cole slaw bag at the grocery store and also bought a bag of shredded purple cabbage and two carrots which I shredded on a box grater. I added half a shaved red onion per another recipe I read and made the dressing as it says. You have to tweak the seasonings for your individual taste - we added an extra tablespoon of sugar and I like a lot of pepper in my cole slaw. I love creamy style slaw and served on top of pulled pork sandwiches, this was terrific! The whole family loved it. Also, for all the extra vegetables I added, the amount of dressing was perfect. I think if I only used the one bag of store bought slaw it would have been swimming in dressing... but you may like it that way!

Tyler your ultimate coleslaw is the bomb. I have made lots of Tyler's dishes and all of them have been the bomb at my house and i watch your show all the time Tyler your the best. Sometimes  i cannot fine items like the san marzo tomotes here in Midwest City OK wish i could.

I have been making this recipe since last summer and I keep being asked to bring it to places. We LOVE this! I did sart adding a small palmful of celery seed to bring out the flavor more on the second day if it lasts that long. This is so simple and easy and goes with fish, fried chicken, burgers and hotdogs, EVERYTHING. Great cole slaw recipe!

I love Tyler so I had to make his coleslaw.  I don't care too much for red wine vinegar so I replaced it with Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar and added a little bit more sugar.  It was delicious!!!

I was dubious because there was no celery seed, onion, garlic, or green pepper.  But it was great.  And so easy.  The fresh lemon juice gave it an extra zing.  I thought it needed a little extra sugar but maybe that was because I had one that had an  extreme amount of juice 

I made this cole slow with a couple of adjustments. I added two extra tbls. of sugar and I added a little miracle whip to the mayo to make the cup. I turned out so good. I could have eaten it all myself. Will definetely keep this recipe and make it again. 

I added two extra tablespoons of sugar.  If I make this recipe again I'll add some red onion and perhaps celery seed.  Dressing was a little heavy for me.  Second thought, probably won't make it again.  Sorry Tyler.

tyler is super hot and he's southern, so i thought this coleslaw would be a solid choice ... it wasn't entirely disappointing, but i've definitely had better. on the plus, it was very easy to make.

I followed this recipe to the letter and it turned out great!  This is a do again.

This was great. I doubled the recipe for a party. I couldn't find a bag of slaw with green and purple cabbage so I added half a head of purple cabbage to two bags of slaw. I thought with that the recipe was the perfect wetness. I like to let it sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving.

I had to use balsamic vinegar instead of red wine cuz thats what I had on hand.  I used a little more sugar than what is called for too.  I just like my coleslaw sweeter.  Next time I will probably make it with miracle whip instead of mayo too.  But still... its good.  I liked using the store bag-makes my life easy.  I thought the dressing was unusually creamy.  The recipe doesnt say what size of bag-o-slaw to use either.  My Meijer carries multiple sizes, so I guessed.  I used one 16 ounce package though I bought 2.  So my other pack will be the miracle whip one.  Anyway-good slaw!

This receipe is so easy and so delicious. I made it for an office luncheon an it was a hit! Don't think that you have to shred and chop the veggies yourself, the all-in-one bag works just fine. I did add a little extra, so make sure you have two bags, just in case you feel like you want it to be a little more lite. Hands down the best slaw for BBQ ever!!!

I Loved it and I don't really like coleslaw

My husband and I both really liked this, and we don't usually agree on coleslaw.  However, the second time I made it I used half the Dijon and added celery seeds, and then it was a great coleslaw!

This recipe is great. It is very easy to do and tastes great!

Made fish and chips and wanted a coleslaw to go with it.  I like this recipe because it is quick and easy.  And my daughter (14), who has never like coleslaw, really liked it!  That's a plus!  I didn't have any red wine vinegar, substituted with rice vinegar.  And I used honey dijon mustard...so I used less sugar.  I made it in less than 5 minutes!  Great!

But not as good as others I've had. I added a lot more lemon juice to punch it up, but I like the dressing lighter than this.

This coleslaw has great "tang", something I think is missing from most slaws. I really enjoyed it and so did my family. Perfect with Tyler's ultimate ribs.

This slaw was god but noting to crow about. I wouldn't do again. Too many other slaw recipes to try.

SO, so good!  Much better than my own mother's.  (shhhh!)  I had to use regular mustard since I was out of dijon, and I didn't quite have enough mayo so I added sour cream to the mayo to make a cup.  I used a heaping tablespoon of sugar, and I was generous with the olive oil, salt and fresh pepper.  PERFECT taste!  Exactly what I was looking for!

Excellent coleslaw and easy. Dijon Mayo mixture is great...I prefer a bit more sugar and vinegar in the mix than called for.

This was awesome, but I don't like my slaw that tangy.  Next time I will not add as much lemon juice and will add the sugar a tablespoon at a time until it's to our liking.  A keeper!

I made this for our family picnic and got lots of compliments.  It's simple, but has that extra something that makes it special.

This coleslaw was just okay, nothing great--I was hoping for better.  I thought it was a bit tart.  I wouldn't make it again.

My wife and I recntly gotten into cole slaw but after trying the recipe we won't be eating it out much.  This is a fast, EASY and tasty way to make a great side dish.  Great for bringing to parties!

I really liked this coleslaw because it gives you all the ingredients you NEED for good slaw, but gives you the flexibility to add your own flavor to it.  I added a couple of splashes of hot sauce and some grated onion for the perfect taste.  I also liked the idea of adding dried cranberries...perhaps I'll try that next time.  Great recipe, Tyler!

This coleslaw is very basic but, it has a good tangy flavor. I mad mine with miracle whip but, I think the tangyness from the Miracle Whip and the lemon was a little over the top. So, use the real mayo. This would be an excellent slaw with fish.

Very good recipe for cole slaw. We served it with pulled pork sandwiches and it was delcious!! Nice and creamy.

This cole slaw is some of the best that I have ever had. A family member made it for a cookout and am I glad that she did! This is a terrific recipe.

it was nice but was just like any other cole slaw dressing i have had. needs more "oomphh" as one might say.

I used to buy the coleslaw dressing mix and add this to the package of coleslaw. No more. I am now saving money and this is the best coleslaw I ever made. My husband is a fussy coleslaw person, and he raves about this recipe. If I ever got un-lazy and actually chopped up my own cabbage and carrots, I bet this would be the best in the whole country.

I made this with the Ultimate Ribs. I was the only one eating it unfortunately. I had some leftover chick-fil-a coleslaw and I liked the taste of it better. Sorry Tyler. I do love most of your recipes.
