These baked homemade onion rings are just as crunchy and delicious as the fried version, but this onion ring recipe is also gluten free, dairy free and low carb.

The Ultimate Crispy Baked Homemade Onion Rings

onion

olive oil spray

arrowroot powder

paprika

salt

onion powder

garlic powder

1.5 tsp sugar ((optional))

coconut milk

mayonnaise ((optional))

Heat your oven to 400 degrees.  Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Mix together all the dry ingredients in a medium sized bowl.  Mix together the wet ingredients in another bowl.

Slice the onion to make rings that are about 3/4 of an inch wide. Peel the skin from each ring and carefully separate the rings from each other.

One at a time, take each ring and dip it into the wet mix. Then drip it into the dry. Coat it well, but make sure to tap all the excess back into the bowl. Place the ring on the baking tray.

When all the rings are coated, spray the rings with olive oil spray. You want to coat them, but not get too much. Flip them over and spray the other side.

Pop them into the oven. Check them after 9 or 10 mins and flip them over. Cook for an additional 4 mins or so.

Take them out and serve them right away.

Preheat oven to 400°. Line a medium baking sheet with aluminum foil and fit with a metal cooling rack.

Cut onion into 1/2" rings, then separate every other ring, so that each ring contains two rounds of onion. Stir together brown sugar and cayenne pepper on a large shallow plate, then lay bacon on mixture to coat. Wrap doubled up rings with bacon, then set on baking sheet. Bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until bacon is crisp and golden. Serve with Ranch, if using.&nbsp;

Why are you guys sticking on keto? I don't see anywhere on the recipe that this is supposed to be keto. No, they're not keto but as a normal food for people not following a specific diet plan, they are great the way the recipe is written. I make them about once a month.

Sweet onion rings coated in a crunchy creole breading, baked to crispy perfection using your oven! They are easy to make and are so much healthier than greasy, deep-fried rings. Enjoy them as a yummy side to your cheeseburgers!

Easy Baked Onion Rings

onions

flour

milk

egg (beaten)

creole spice mix ((see recipe below))

salt + pepper

breadcrumbs

sea salt

basil

oregano

black pepper

thyme

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.   Cover baking sheet with parchment paper.

Place half of the flour into a small sized bowl and set aside.

In another bowl mix remaining flour with milk and egg.  Add in creole spice mix, and salt + pepper.   Mix to fully combine.

One by one, dip the onion slices into the bowl of plain flour mixture.

Next, dip the onion into the flour batter mixture. Let excess batter drip off before moving to the next step.

Pour bread crumbs into a shallow bowl.  Finally, dip the onion ring into breadcrumbs so it&#39;s completely covered.

Place onion ring on prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all onions are gone.

Bake until onion rings are golden brown, 17 to 20 minutes.   At the 10 minute mark, flip the onion rings so they&#39;re evenly crispy.    Remove from oven and serve!

Onion (cut into ½ inch thick rings)

Pound bacon

⅓ Cup BBQ sauce

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease a baking pan and set aside.

Cut each bacon strip into 3 so you have thinner stripes. Set aside.

Separate the onion slices into rings keeping 2 layers per ring. Discard the smaller ones.

Tightly roll a bacon strip around the onion ring. Keep rolling more bacon until you have the whole ring covered. Repeat the process with the rest of the onion and bacon.

In a bowl combine BBQ sauce, hot sauce and brown sugar and smoother the bacon wrapped onion rings with it. Transfer to the prepared baking pan and take to the oven.

Bake for 20 minutes or until the bacon is golden and crispy.

Gluten Free Vegan Baked Onion Rings

Preheat the oven at 390 º F or 200 º C.

Peel the onion and slice them.

Mix the water and 1/4 cup (30 g) chickpea flour in a bowl. Mix 3/4 cup chickpea flour (90 g) with the rest of the ingredients in another bowl.

Submerge the onion rings in the water+flour mixture and then in the other mixture.

Bake them on a baking sheet with baking paper for 20 or 25 minutes.

These Baked Onion Rings are so light, crunchy and delicious. They are low in fat, gluten-free and vegan made with the perfect blend of spices!

tapioca starch

brown rice flour

cornmeal

nutritional yeast flakes

Preheat oven to 450 degrees, line the baking sheet with parchment paper, and coat with oil.

Slice onion circles about 1/2 inch thick and set aside.

In a small bowl, mix milk and tapioca starch and set aside.

In a medium-sized bowl, combine brown rice flour, cornmeal, yeast flakes, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and sea salt.

Dip each onion ring into milk then into dry mix and transfer to a baking sheet and repeat until all are coated.

Spray battered onion rings with cooking spray or brush with oil and bake for 15 minutes, being careful they don’t burn.

For best results, brush with oil if you want them to look just like the photo above. Also, you have to eat them right away!

So excited about this recipe! I don't use yeast or cornmeal. Any alternatives? You also mentioned using tapioca starch in your instructions. However the amount needed isn't noted in the recipe.
