Vegan Banana Fritters

bananas

all-purpose flour

baking powder

white sugar ((make sure it's vegan!))

plant-based milk ((I used unsweetened rice coconut milk))

sparkling water

frying oil

maple syrup

sesame seeds

Peel the bananas and cut each banana in about 10 chunks.

For the batter, combine the flour, baking powder, and sugar. Add the plant-based milk and sparkling water and whisk together. If you dip a banana chunk into the batter, the batter should stick to the banana. Add more water if it's too thick. Add more flour if it's too runny.&nbsp;

Heat the frying oil in a pot (just enough so that the banana fritters can swim in the oil). Fry each banana chunk dipped in the&nbsp;batter for about 1-2 minutes - until golden and crispy. If they brown too quickly, then your oil is too hot, reduce the heat a bit.

Transfer them to a paper towel to remove excess oil.

Put all the banana fritters in a large bowl, add the maple syrup and toss to coat them all.&nbsp;Sprinkle the banana fritters with sesame seeds and enjoy!

Banana Fritters are made with cakey batter, fried to perfection and loaded with bananas.

Banana Fritters

(250 grams) all-purpose flour

salt

cinnamon

eggs

(122 grams) milk

vanilla

butter, (melted)

bananas, (chopped)

Vegetable or canola oil, (for frying)

confectioners' sugar

water

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, combine the eggs, milk, vanilla, and melted butter.

Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture, stirring until combined.

Fold in the ripe, chopped bananas.

Fill a frying pan halfway with oil. Heat over medium heat until the oil reaches 375°F with a candy thermometer.

Slowly drop ¼ cup of batter into the oil and let fry until golden brown, about 2-4 minutes per side depending on the heat of your oil.

Flip and fry until the opposite side is golden brown. To test for doneness, insert a small knife (or toothpick) into the center. If there&#039;s still uncooked batter in the center, fry for a bit longer. Transfer to a paper towel-lined cooling rack and let cool. Repeat with the remaining batter being sure to check the temperature of the oil throughout the process.

Make the glaze by combining the sugar, vanilla, and 3 teaspoons of water. Add more water, 1 teaspoon at a time, until a pourable consistency is reached.

Drizzle the glaze over the cooled fritters and let dry.

Easy Jamaican Banana Fritters

Mash bananas with fork in bowl.

Add brown sugar, vanilla, extract, cinnamon, nutmeg and a pinch of salt. Sift in flour and stir with spoon until fully combined.

Add oil to a 10 inch skillet over medium-high heat. Once oil is hot, drop banana fritter batter in oil by the spoonful. Once one side is golden and bubbles appear on the top, flip fritter and cook until the other side is browned as well.

Remove fritters and drain on paper towels. Enjoy :)

These banana fritters are the perfect way to use up your overripe bananas. They are sweet, but not overly sweet as they do not contain any added sugar. They are soft, fluffy with a rich flavor from the bananas. Enjoy for breakfast, snack time or dessert. They pair well with tea or coffee!

Peel the bananas and place in a large bowl. Mash with a wooden spoon or potato masher to form a paste (it will have lumps in it and that's okay).

Add the rest of the ingredients into the bowl except the oil for frying. Mix until just combine to form a batter. The batter will be light and drippy.

Place oil in a pan up to 3 inches then heat up on high heat to 365 degrees Fahrenheit. Reduce the heat to medium (this is important because very hot oil will result in the fritters burning on the outside without cooking through.  Place tablespoonfuls of the batter into the pan (if you have a small cookie scoop, use it to drop the batter into the oil). Do not overcrowd the pan. Let the fritters cook until golden. Flip to the other side and let them cook until golden too. Remove and place on paper towel to absorb excess oil. Repeat process with the rest of the batter.

Enjoy for breakfast with some tea, or as a snack, or serve with chocolate sauce as a dessert.

How to Make Maruya | Banana Fritters

These deep fried crispy bananas just look like shinning golden ingots! Eat more golden banana fritters during Lunar New Year, and earn a lot of golden ingots in the coming year. Don&#39;t like eggs, I also created a vegan version of this recipe. Simply substitute the eggs with oat milk and corn starch, in this way you can make some silver-ingot vegan banana fritters.

Crispy Fried Bananas - Banana Fritters

oat milk (or soymilk, almond milk, coconut milk)

Beat an egg in a small bowl, set aside. If you want to substitute the egg, you can mix 3 tbsp. of corn starch and 1/3 cup of oat milk in a small bowl instead. Banana fritters made with eggs will look more golden. But the tastes are very similar.

Pour 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs to a small bowl, set aside.

Peel a banana. Poke 5 toothpicks into the banana. Cut between each toothpick, so that we cut the banana into 5 (1 ½inch) chunks.

Dip a banana chunk into the egg (or oat milk mixture), then dredge the banana chuck in the breadcrumbs, coating well. Then dip in the egg again, then back in breadcrumbs. Set aide. Repeat until all 5 banana chucks are coated.

In a small milk pan, heat 1 cup of cooking oil until medium heat (about 350F). You can test the oil temperature by dropping some breadcrumbs into the oil. If it&#39;s medium heat they will make fine bubbles and spread throughout.

Put banana chunks into the hot oil. Fry for about 3 minutes until they turn golden brown. If you use oat milk instead of eggs, the fried bananas will also be crispy outside, but not as golden brown as egg coated ones.

Put fried bananas on a serving plate. Drizzle with honey, sweetened condensed milk, chocolate syrup, or top with some ice cream or cinnamon powder. Be careful it&#39;s very hot inside. Make sure you cool them down for at least 2 minutes before enjoying.

This simple recipe for banana fritters, given to me by a wonderful Jamaican cook, makes a pleasantly offbeat breakfast treat or an accompaniment to savory dishes.

bananas (well mashed)

whole wheat pastry flour flour

cinnamon and nutmeg

raisins (optional)

vanilla or plain nondairy milk

Earth Balance

Maple syrup or all-fruit preserves (optional)

Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir until just smoothly blended.

Heat a nonstick griddle or wide skillet and coat lightly with vegan buttery spread.

Drop the batter onto the hot griddle in scant 1/4 cupfuls. Cook each fritter on both sides until golden brown. When flipping to the second side, press down a bit with the spatula to flatten further. This ensures that they'll cook through.

Serve hot, either on their own or with preserves or maple syrup.
