This meatloaf was very bland. Ketchup was good so I made more just to give the meat some flavor. Definitely could use some more seasonings.

Made this today using ground turkey instead of beef. It turned out AMAZING. I was little weary about the ketchup but that was also excellent!!!

Bop's Favorite Meatloaf Recipe is a super savory and easy comfort food that's generously flavored with onion, green bell pepper, spices, and of course, ketchup. An easy meatloaf recipe that's sure to become a family favorite!

Bop's Favorite Meatloaf Recipe

soda cracker crumbs (Saltine crackers)

tomato sauce

onion

green bell pepper

eggs,

bay leaf, finely crushed

salt

thyme

ketchup

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F., and spray a large rectangular baking dish with cooking spray. You can also line the pan with foil or parchment, if you like, for easier clean up (spray any lining with cooking spray).

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cracker crumbs, tomato sauce, onion, bell pepper, eggs, crushed bay leaf, salt, thyme, and black pepper. Stir well to combine everything evenly.

Shape the ground beef mixture into a long oval loaf that is about 9 to 10 inches long. Place the loaf in the center of the baking dish.

Bake, uncovered, for one hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F.

Remove from the oven, and allow the meatloaf to rest for 5 minutes before serving hot.

Moist, tender, and loaded with flavor, there&#39;s plenty of smoky goodness in this amazing meatloaf!

The Best Smoked Meatloaf

In a small bowl, tear the sliced bread into small pieces and add the milk. Set aside for 5 minutes.

Add the ground beef, pork, bacon, eggs, and spices to a medium-sized bowl. Add the soaked bread and any leftover milk. Mix well without over-mixing.

Form the meatloaf into a loaf and lift it carefully to the grill pan.

Smoke the meatloaf at 180-F for 30 minutes, then turn up the heat to 350-F and smoke for an additional 40 minutes, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 130-F.

When the meatloaf has reached 130-F, top it with about 1/2 of the sauce. Reserve the rest of the sauce for adding at the table.

Continue to smoke at 350-F for an additional 20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165-F.

Let rest for 15 minutes then slice and serve.

To make the sauce, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, cider vinegar, and spices in a small bowl.

Preheat the oven to 350˚F.

Line a loaf pan with foil and lightly grease both pan and foil. Leave plenty of overlap to make it easier to remove the meatloaf after cooking.

In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, ½-cup barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined, but do not overmix or the meatloaf will be tough.

Shape the beef mixture into a loaf in the prepared pan. Spread the remaining barbecue sauce over the top.

Bake for 50 minutes, or until the internal temperature registers 165˚F. Let the meatloaf stand for 5 to 10 minutes before cutting.

Garnish with parsley and serve.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl, pour milk over bread slices and allow to soak for 2-3 minutes.

Add ground beef, egg, parmesan, salt, black pepper, and parsley to the bread in the bowl.

Using clean hands, mix the ingredients together. Form the well-combined mixture into a loaf and place on a broiler pan with foil-lined on the bottom (to allow the fat to drain a bit).

Neatly arrange the slices of bacon over the top, making sure to tuck the pieces under the meatloaf.

Pour and spread about 1/3 of the sauce over the meatloaf.

Bake for 45 minutes, until the edges of the meatloaf are nice and browned. Pour another 1/3 of the sauce over the top of the meatloaf, and bake for an additional 15 minutes.

Slice and serve with more sauce on the side.

I don’t usually rate recipes because I’m very much the type of person that modifies and once I modify, I feel like I’m not going to rate some thing thats not as posted. However, this recipe is my go to for meatloaf. The only difference is that I add chopped onion, that’s all I do when I make the meatloaf I follow this to the t, but i add chopped onion.

I followed the directions explicitly (to the letter) and it was a sloppy, soggy loaf that was completely raw throughout the middle when the cooking time elapsed. Continued cooking led to scorched sauce and burnt-tasting bacon. Thoroughly disappointed.

Preheat oven to 375°F (175°C).

Combine ketchup brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl, set aside.

Make the Glaze

In a large bowl whisk together milk, BBQ sauce, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt and pepper.

Add meat, onions and bread crumbs and stir until combined.

Line a wire rack with aluminum foil and poke holes in it, then place it on a large baking sheet

Form the mixture into a large loaf (about 10” by 5” by 2”)

Bake for 40 minutes.

Remove from oven, spread sauce on top and bake for 10 more minutes or until meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees F.

If necessary, broil for the 2-4 minutes to caramelize the top.

Remove from oven and let cool for at least 5 minutes before serving.

Tried recipe an did a few weeks an it turned out awesome. I used panko bread crumbs, no eggs, upped milk to 1/3rd cup, it takes 50 minutes at 375 ,add 15 more minutes when you apply topping sauce.

My meatloaf recipe needed something so I tried this one. I’m making it for the second time right now because it was so delicious!!! I have always made my own barbecue sauce ( same as yours ) and now to use it as a meatloaf topping was phenomenal. Awesome recipe!!

Pre- heat oven to 350° (180° celsius). Lightly grease a 9 inch (22 cm) shallow baking dish or loaf pan.

In a large bowl combine well all the ingredients together, except for the cheese. Add half the meat mixture into a shallow lightly greased baking dish, top with 1/2 the shredded cheese, then top with the other half of meat mixture.

Bake approximately 1 hour. After the 45-50 minutes baking time, remove the meatloaf from the oven and top with the remaining shredded cheese, return to oven to finish baking. Let sit 5-10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

it’s such a complete “brain save” for me. I literally do nothing.The texture ends up being a tad different, but not enough that my family has ever noticed. 🙂 The kids love having it cooked in baggies too because I will keep some in the fridge and it makes them much more apt to cook up something on their own. 🙂
