(16 oz.) pkg., frozen blueberries (or 4 heaping cups)

(16.25 oz.) cake mix, white or yellow

(1 stick) butter, melted

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a greased 9x13 baking pan, toss together sugar, blueberries and 1 tsp lemon zest. Spread out evenly into the pan.&nbsp;

Pour cake mix over top of the berries to cover completely. Sprinkle the other 1 1/2 teaspoon of lemon zest (can always use a bit more if desired!) over top of the cake mix and using a spoon or your fingers try to gently incorporate it into the cake mix.

Slice the butter thin, into about 1/4 in thick pieces and spread evenly all over the cake mix. Place in the oven and bake for about 45-55 minutes or until bubbly and to the desired brown color.

Remove and allow to cool. Serve warm with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 5 days.

Spread the can of blueberry pie filling at the bottom of a  9.5 x 13 cake pan/pyrex dish (or similar size-but no bigger.)

Spread crushed pineapple over pie filling and top with shredded coconut and 3/4 of the fresh blueberries.

Evenly sprinkle the dry cake mix over the top of the fruit.

Thinly slice the butter sticks and place the sliced butter pieces over the dry cake mix. (you can melt the butter and drizzle it too, but I have found the results are best by slicing the butter.)

Sprinkle the rest of the fresh blueberries on top of the cake mix.

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until the cake topping is golden brown.

I used to make this years ago. You can use any kind of fruit. My fave is peach. Its so easy. You can throw it together and its always a hit. I made the blueberry today for a brunch.

I made this for a church group and it was devoured.  The hardest part of a dump cake is slicing the butter pats but the result is fantistic!

Hello There, I just made the blueberry dump cake. Only I took the recipe and shortened it or cut it in half. Because of 9x13 is just way too much sugars for me and I don't have many people to share it with right now. But I thought I'd take a picture and shirt here and if anyone else has that problem remember it's very simple to cut in half and throw it in an 8x8 or 9x9 pan. It tastes delicious.

Yum! This is a dangerous recipe to know. It is soooooo easy. You can make it anytime you have unexpected guests for dinner and need to whip something up. You can also make it anytime you have a sweet tooth because it is soooo easy to make and satisfy that sweet tooth! There is a lot of room for being creative-whether by adding spices like cinnamon and nutmeg or other yummy add ins chocolate chips or bananas and so on. Have fun with it and thank you, Jo!
