Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy

chicken breasts

can cream of chicken soup

water

cornstarch

Add the chicken breasts (no need to pre-cook or brown)

In a small bowl whisk together the gravy mix, cream of chicken soup, water and pepper.

Pour the gravy mix over the chicken in the slow cooker.

Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4 hours.

Shred the chicken with two forks in the slow cooker.

If your gravy is thin from the chicken being too juicy or added veggies, mix together the cornstarch and water. Add to the slow cooker along with the gravy and shredded chicken. Add the lid back on and cook high for 10 minutes longer or until the gravy has thickened.

RECIPE:

2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
1.74 oz. dry chicken gravy mix (2 packets)
10.75 oz. can cream of chicken soup
1.5 cups water
⅛ teaspoon black pepper
Gravy thickener if needed:
2 Tbsp. water
2 Tbsp. cornstarch

Instant Pot Chicken and Garlic Gravy

(200 grams) medium onion (, diced)

Salt and black pepper

(22.5 grams) cornstarch

(45 milliliters) cold water

Brown Chicken

Brown Chicken: Heat up Instant Pot with Sauté More function. Wait until the indicator says HOT. Pat dry chicken skin with paper towels. Season generously with kosher salt and ground black pepper.Add 1 - 2 tbsp (15ml - 30ml) olive oil in Instant Pot. Ensure to coat oil over whole bottom of the pot. Add in 2 chicken (skin side down), then season meat side with more kosher salt and ground black pepper. Brown skin side for 3.5 minutes. Flip and brown meat side for 1.5 minutes, then set aside.*Pro Tip: The chicken skin will stick to inner pot in the beginning, but it&#039;ll release itself at the 3-minute mark.*Note: If you&#039;re preparing 4 chicken breasts, repeat this step for the other 2 chicken breasts.

Sauté Onion and Garlic

Sauté Onion and Garlic: Add in diced onion, then sauté for ~2.5 minutes until softened and lightly browned. Add in minced garlic, then sauté for another 30 seconds until fragrant. Season with kosher salt and ground black pepper.

Sauté Celery and Carrot

Sauté Celery and Carrot: Add in chopped celery and carrot. Sauté until vegetables are slightly browned (~3 minutes). Taste and season with more kosher salt and ground black pepper.

Deglaze Instant Pot

Deglaze Instant Pot: Add in a dash of sherry wine, then deglaze by scrubbing the flavorful brown bits off the bottom of the pot with a wooden spoon.

Pressure Cook Chicken

Pressure Cook Chicken: Add 1 cup (250ml) unsalted chicken stock, 1 bay leaf, a pinch of salt, dried rosemary, and dried thyme. Give it a quick stir and layer 2 - 4 browned chicken on top. With Venting Knob in Venting Position, close the lid, then turn Venting Knob to Sealing Position. Pressure cook atBone-in Chicken Breasts - High Pressure for 6 minutes, then Natural Release for 10 minutesBoneless Chicken Breasts - High Pressure for 5 minutes, then Natural Release for 10 minutesBone-in Chicken Thighs - High Pressure for 7 minutes, then Natural Release for 10 minutesBoneless Chicken Thighs - High Pressure for 6 minutes, then Natural Release for 10 minutesOpen the lid carefully.

Thicken Gravy &amp; Serve

Thicken Gravy &amp; Serve: Set aside cooked chicken. Heat up gravy with Sauté function. In a small mixing bowl, mix 2.5 tbsp (22.5g) cornstarch with 3 tbsp (45ml) cold water. Mix it in one third at a time until desired thickness. Taste gravy and season with more salt &amp; black pepper if necessary. Slice chicken &amp; serve with gravy and your favorite side dishes.

Instant Pot Chicken Breast and Gravy

Set your pressure cooker to the SAUTE setting. Drizzle chicken with 1 tablespoon olive oil and rub all over to coat. Season all over with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and Italian seasoning.

Drizzle remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil into the pan, use a rubber spatula to spread the oil around to coat the bottom of the pot. Immediatley add chicken and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side to brown the chicken. Remove chicken, pour in 1 cup broth, return chicken to pot.

Place lid on the pot and slide into the locked position. Turn the venting valve to the SEALED position. Set your pressure cooker to PRESSURE COOK or MANUAL and set time to 8 minutes (for large chicken breasts do 10 minutes).

Once cook time is up, do a QUICK RELEASE by turning the vent valve to the VENT position. Once float valve drops, remove lid and transfer chicken to a plate and cover to keep warm.

Set pressure cooker to SOUP. Add remaining 2 cups chicken broth to the pot. In a small bowl whisk together cold water and corn starch til dissolved. When the chicken broth comes to a boil, stir in the corn starch slurry. Turn pressure cooker OFF.

Season gravy generously with salt and pepper to taste. As it cools the gravy will thicken slightly. Serve over chicken.

Gravy Baked Chicken (thighs & drumsticks) - 5 min prep!

beef stock/broth ((yes, beef, not chicken! Note 3))

Preheat oven to 200°C/390°F (180°C fan).

Seasoning - mix in a small bowl.

Season chicken - Place chicken in a 23 x 33cm / 9 x 13&quot; baking pan. Drizzle with oil then rub all over Sprinkle &amp; rub in the Seasoning, using most on the skin side.

Arrange chicken skin side up in the pan.

Gravy mixture - Whisk flour with about 1/2 cup of stock until lump free, then whisk in remaining stock and pepper (forgot in video!). Pour into the pan around the chicken.

Bake uncovered for 50 minutes, or until chicken is crispy and golden.

Whisk gravy - Remove chicken onto a plate, then give the gravy a good whisk to make it smooth. Adjust Gravy thickness if required - Note 4. Taste and add salt and pepper, if needed.

Serve - Pour gravy into a jug. Serve alongside chicken!

2-3 boneless skinless chicken breasts

rice potatoes

Spray slow cooker with nonstick spray.

Place chicken inside slow cooker.

Sprinkle gravy mix over chicken.

Cover with cream of chicken soup.

Cook on low for 4 to 5 hours.

Shred or cut chicken into bite sized pieces and return to sauce.

Serve your slow cooker chicken over hot cooked rice or mashed potatoes.

Slower Cooker Instructions

Add 3/4 cup water to pot.

Pour in cream of chicken soup. So not stir.

Top with frozen chicken.

Cook on poultry setting for 20 minutes.  Allow a natural release.

Remove chicken from pot and shred.

Whisk together 1/4 cup water and gravy mix.

Set pot to saute and bring sauce to a simmer.  Add gravy mixture and whisk until thickened.

Add shredded chicken back into sauce.

Serve over hot cooker rice.

This super comforting dish is made with boneless, skinless chicken breasts that are lightly breaded and pan-fried, then cooked in a mouth-watering gravy with onions, celery, and bell peppers.

Cajun Smothered Chicken

olive oil (extra virgin)

Salt and black pepper (to taste)

all-purpose flour (divided)

butter (unsalted)

onion

red bell pepper

celery

garlic (minced)

chicken stock

Worcestershire sauce

half and half (or whole milk)

onion powder

smoked paprika

cayenne pepper

Heat 4 tablespoons of olive oil in a 12-inch cast-iron skillet or large, heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat.

Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides. Dredge the chicken breasts in flour, lightly coating both sides and shaking off any excess. Place the chicken in the hot oil and cook for 5-7 minutes on both sides until golden brown. Transfer the chicken breasts to a paper towel-lined plate.

Melt two tablespoons of butter in the same skillet. Add the onion, bell pepper, and celery and cook for 3-5 minutes until the veggies begin to soften. Stir the veggies with a wooden spoon, scraping up any brown bits at the bottom of the pan. Add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Add two tablespoons of flour to the skillet and cook while stirring for 1-2 minutes. Pour the chicken stock into the skillet while stirring constantly so that lumps do not form. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and half and half, then add the onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Lower the heat to medium, season the gravy with salt and pepper to taste, and simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Transfer the chicken breasts back to the skillet with the gravy. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the gravy has thickened and the chicken is tender. Serve the chicken over white rice with gravy spooned over top. Enjoy!

Smothered Chicken And Gravy

8 oz boneless skinless chicken breasts

all purpose flour (plus

10 3/4 oz can cream of chicken with mushrooms soup

half & half

chicken soup base,

poultry seasoning (i.e. Poultry Magic)

Preheat the oven to 325°F.  On the stovetop, melt 3 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat.In a 6 quart dutch oven or similar oven safe pot.

In a small bowl, whisk together flour with 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp paprika and 1/4 tsp black pepper. Dust chicken breasts on all sides with seasoned flour.

Brown chicken in butter for 1 minute on both sides. Arrange in dutch oven or buttered baking dish. Top with onion and a light dusting of paprika.

In a small mixing bowl, whisk together, soup, dissolved soup base, half and half, poultry seasoning, garlic powder, tarragon and black pepper. Pour the over the chicken and onions.

Bake covered for 50-60 minutes. Remove lid and test the chicken for doneness. Time may vary adjust cooking time depending on the thickness of chicken breasts used. Remove chicken to a platter to rest for 5 minutes. Mix gravy well. (See Cook&#39;s note for how to thicken graqvy with cornstarch, if desired.)

Serve smothered chicken and gravy garnished with parsley. Serve with cornbread dressing, cooked rice, cooked pasta, mashed potatoes or any of your favorite Southern side dishes.

Canned Chicken and Gravy Recipe

chicken (cubed)

Fill the pressure canner with two inches of water. Get clean jars into the canner and turn on the heat for everything to start gently warming up.

Prepare and chop all vegetables and add them to a large bowl.

Dice chicken and add to the bowl of veggies. If there’s any juice from the chicken defrosting, you do not need to add that.

Add salt, pepper, poultry seasonings and white wine to the bowl and stir to distribute evenly.

In a pot on the stove, bring the broth up to a simmer.

Remove hot jars from the pressure canner (dumping out any water first) and place on a towel-lined counter next to your large bowl of chicken mixture.

Using a funnel and tongs (or another tool of choice), fill each jar with the mixture, packing firmly, leaving a one-inch headspace. Homestead Hack: The goal is to pack this meal as well as possible so only a few tablespoons of broth are needed to fill the jar.

Once jars are filled, ladle over the hot broth, maintaining the one-inch headspace. Run the bubble popper along the sides of each jar to remove any air pockets, then add more broth, if necessary. Homestead Hack: The one-inch headspace is important to maintain for getting a good seal on your jars.

Wipe each rim well with a clean, damp dish rag.

Add lids and bands, tightening to fingertip tight.

Transfer jars to the pressure canner and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for adding the lid.

Bring the temperature up slowly (over about medium to medium-high heat).

Once steam is coming out of the steam vent at a steady pace, set a timer for 10 minutes.

After the 10 minutes, add the regulator or weighted gauge and bring up the pressure to the desired level for your specific elevation (refer to the chart in the blog post).

As soon as your pressure is up to full pressure, start your timer. For quart jars, set the timer for 1 hour and 30 minutes. For pint jars, set the timer for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Once the time is up, turn off the heat and allow the pressure canner to come all the way back down to zero pressure naturally. Don’t jiggle the weighted gauge, don’t place your pressure canner in cold water, just let it sit and naturally come back down to zero pressure.

Once the dial gauge reads zero, very gently tap the weighted gauge/pressure regulator to make sure no more pressure remains. Remove the weighted gauge/pressure regulator and wait another ten minutes.

Remove the lid (be careful, it’s hot!) and, using the jar lifters, remove the jars of chicken and gravy from the canner onto a towel-lined counter. Let the jars sit, undisturbed for 12-24 hours.

Remove the bands, check the seals, wipe the jars clean and label and date them.
