Glazed Ham for the Holidays

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Coat a baking pan with cooking spray.

Add the butter, brown sugar, honey, apple cider, cinnamon and nutmeg to a pot. Place the pot over medium heat.

Bring the pot to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes or until glaze is syrupy.

Place the ham in the pan and pour half of the glaze over it. Cover the ham with foil. Reserve the remaining glaze for later user.

Bake the ham for 2 1/2 hours. Uncover the ham.

Pour the remaining glaze over the ham. If the glaze has started to harden, you can microwave it for a few seconds to loosen it back up.

Increase the oven temperature to 400 degrees F.

Place the ham, uncovered, in the oven. Bake for another 15-20 minutes or until glaze is caramelized and browned.

Transfer the ham to a serving platter and garnish with fresh herbs and cranberries. Spoon pan drippings over the ham. Slice the ham, then serve.

Brown Sugar Glazed Ham

This old-fashioned Brown Sugar Pineapple Glazed Ham is an easy recipe that makes an impressive statement on a holiday table!

Pineapple Glazed Ham

(7-9 lb.) fully-cooked, bone-in ham

pineapple juice

cloves

pineapple slices, drained

7-10 maraschino cherries, drained and rinsed

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

In a saucepan, stir together pineapple juice, brown sugar, Dijon mustard and ground cloves. Bring to a boil and then simmer, stirring occasionally, until the mixture becomes slightly syrupy (about 10 minutes). Set aside.

Line a roasting pan with aluminum foil. Place ham in the pan. Using a sharp knife, score surface of ham with 1/4-in.-deep cuts in a diamond pattern. Arrange pineapple and cherries evenly on ham; secure with wooden toothpicks. Spoon some of the glaze over the ham.

Bake at 325° for 1 hour. Shield the ham loosely with aluminum foil after 1 hour to prevent too much browning, and bake for 1 – 1 ½ more hours (or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest portion registers 140°), basting every 30 minutes with additional glaze and pan juices. Let stand 15 minutes and remove toothpicks before slicing.

Using a sharp knife, score the the top of the ham diagonally, with the lines about 1 inch apart.  Don’t score too deep, the lines should only be a at the most about 1/4 inch deep.  (See the pictures above)

Add about 1/2 cup water or ginger ale to the bottom of the pan.  I use ginger ale because I really like the extra bit of sweetness it adds.

Cover the ham with tin foil and bake for approximately 1 1/2 hours.

While it&#8217;s baking you can make the glaze to add later.

BAKING THE HAM:

In a saucepan over low-medium heat, melt the butter.  Then stir in the brown sugar, honey, mustard, and orange juice. Cook until the sugar dissolves, stirring often.  Don&#8217;t let the mixture boil, you only want to gently dissolve the sugar.

When the glaze is done it should be slightly thick.  As it cools it will thicken more as well.

MAKING THE GLAZE:

After the 1 1/2 hours, take the ham out of the oven, and drizzle the glaze all over the top of the ham, and in all the crevices.

Remove the tin foil, and continue baking for about 30 minutes more.

When the ham is done baking, remove it from the oven and spoon the glaze all over the ham.

Then let the ham rest under tin foil for about 15 minutes before carving.

Honey Glazed Ham

Baked Ham with Brown Sugar Glaze

Preheat oven to 325°F.

Combine dijon mustard and pineapple juice.  Brush over ham.

Place in a roasting pan and cover tightly with foil.  Roast 12-15 minutes per pound (or according to package directions).

Meanwhile, combine glaze ingredients and bring to a boil. Turn heat down and simmer 2-3 minutes.  Cool.

15 minutes before ham is done, remove from the oven and turn the oven up to 425°F.

Brush with glaze and return to the oven until the glaze is caramelized and the ham has reached the safe cook temperature.

Cook a juicy gammon joint in a cinnamon-spiced stock, then add a sticky syrup and clove sauce and serve in thick slices.

Cola ham with maple & mustard glaze

2kg unsmoked boneless gammon joint

2l cola (not diet)

carrot, chopped

onion,

celery,

peppercorns

bay leaf

maple syrup

tbsp wholegrain mustard

tbsp red wine vinegar

Put 2kg unsmoked boneless gammon joint in a large pan and cover with 2l cola. Add 1 chopped carrot, 1 quartered onion, 1 chopped celery stick, 1 cinnamon stick, ½ tbsp peppercorns and 1 bay leaf.

Bring to the boil, then turn down to simmer for around 2 ½ hrs, topping up with boiling water if necessary to keep the gammon fully covered.

Carefully pour the liquid away, then let the ham cool a little while you heat the oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5.

Lift the ham into a roasting tin, then cut away the skin leaving behind an even layer of fat. Score the fat all over in a criss-cross pattern.

Mix 150ml maple syrup, 2 tbsp wholegrain mustard, 2 tbsp red wine vinegar and a pinch of ground cloves or five-spice in a jug.

Pour half over the fat, roast for 15 mins, then pour over the rest and return to the oven for another 30 mins, baste half way through.

Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 10 mins, then spoon more glaze over the top. Can be roasted on the day or up to 2 days ahead and served cold.

No need to take hours to cook ham. This homemade glaze and instant pot ham instructions will be perfect for all hams! Not dried out, but perfectly cooked.

In separate bowl mix brown sugar, honey, apple cider vinegar, whole cloves, and 3/4 cup dole pineapple juice from the can. Set aside.In pressure cooker place fold two long sheets of foil together to form one skinny long piece that will make handles. Place with ends coming up to the top and folding over edge of instant pot. Place ham in pressure cooker and pour glaze on top, reserving 1 cup of the liquid. Top ham with remaining pineapple tidbits and 1 cup water. Seal and cook high 7 minutes. Quick release.

If crispness is desired, remove liquid from the pressure cooker and set aside. Add remaining glaze and add air fryer lid. Air fry for about 7-10 minutes. Ladle some of the remaining juices back on to ham to keep moist.

For sticky caramelized glaze on top with air fryer

If crispness is desired, remove from pressure cooker to cookie sheet. broil for a few minutes until ends are caramelized and crispy. Ladle juices from pressure cooker on ham to restore any moisture. Serve immediately.

Put the gammon in a very large pan and cover with cold water. Add the spices and bay. Bring to the boil, then turn down and simmer for around 1 hr 50 mins, topping up the water level with boiling water, if necessary. Scoop off any scum that rises to the top every now and then.

Carefully pour the liquid away (I like to keep it for making soup), then let the ham cool a little while you heat the oven to 190C/fan 170C/gas 5. Lift the ham into a large roasting tin, then cut away the skin leaving behind an even layer of fat. Score the fat all over in a criss-cross pattern, then stud cloves all over the ham. Can now be chilled for up to 2 days.

Mix the glaze ingredients in a jug. Pour half over the fat, roast for 15 mins, then pour over the rest and return to the oven for another 35 mins, basting with the pan juices 3-4 times as it bakes. Turn the pan around a few times during cooking so the fat colours evenly. Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 15 mins before carving. Can be roasted on the day or up to 2 days ahead and served cold.

Crockpot Honey Mustard Glazed Ham

Dijon mustard (I used Tarragon Dijon Mustard)

In a small saucepan add the brown sugar, honey, mustard, water and cloves and bring to a boil stirring occasionally. Cook for about 5 minutes over medium heat. The glaze should be fragrant from the cloves and mustard.

Place the ham in a large slow cooker, make sure it's large enough so that you can put the lid on it. Pour the glaze over the entire ham. Close the lid and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours or high for 2 to 3 hours. Baste the ham every hour with the glaze. Don't stress if you forget.

The ham will be ready when it reaches an internal temperature of 140°F. Serve with the remaining glaze.

Prepare ham

Prepare ham: Remove ham from packaging and pat it dry with paper towels and bring to room temperature at least 2 hours before baking.

Preheat the oven

Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 325°F. Line a roasting pan with foil. Arrange a rack in the lower third of the oven and remove the upper racks.

Place and score ham

Place and score ham: Using a sharp knife, score a diamond pattern in the fat , about ¼-½ inch deep or as deep as the fat is. Place the ham in the prepared roasting pan, fat side up.

Place cloves in the ham

Place cloves in ham: Place the cloves in the center of the diamonds all around the ham. You can also place the cloves in the intersection points of the score, up to you.

Make the glaze

Make the glaze: In a small saucepan, add the brown sugar, bourbon, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, orange zest and juice, thyme, Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder. Bring to a low simmer over low heat, stirring frequently, until the sugar has fully dissolved. Remove from heat and set aside.

Glaze the ham

Glaze the ham: Using a pastry brush, brush the glaze generously over the ham and in between the scored lines, but only use about a third of it.

Bake the ham

Bake and glaze ham: Transfer the roasting pan in the oven. Bake for 2 hours or about 20 minutes per pound, brushing the ham with remaining glaze every 20 minutes. The ham is ready when the internal temperature of the ham registers at 145°F.

Finish glazing

Finish glazing: Take the ham out of the oven and baste it again with remaining glaze. Place the ham under the broiler for a few minutes to get some nice browning on top, if not browned enough.

Finish and serve

Finish and serve: Take the ham out of the oven again and baste it with remaining juices in the roasting pan. Cover it with aluminum foil and let the ham rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

In the meantime, to a small sauce pan add pomegranate juice, maple syrup, coconut sugar, dijon mustard, ground cinnamon, ground clove and ground allspice. Whisk together and bring to a slow boil, stirring throughout. Once sauce has thickened, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Remove ham from oven and open the top part of the tin foil so ham is exposed. Liberally apply pomegranate maple glaze to the ham. (I use about half) Return ham the oven, uncovered, and bake for another 30 minutes.

Remove ham from oven and let rest for 10 minutes.
