Immune Boosting Winter Citrus Smoothie

mango

lemon

turmeric

cayenne pepper

orange juice

ginger

raw red beet, chopped

raspberries

cara cara orange, blood orange,

pomegranate juice

honey ((optional))

1. In a blender, combine the mango, lemon juice, turmeric, cayenne, ginger, and orange juice. Blend until completely smooth, adding more honey&nbsp; if needed to sweeten. Pour into a tall glass2. Rinse the blender out. Combine the beets, raspberries, orange, and pomegranate juice. Blend until smooth and creamy, adding more pomegranate juice if needed to reach your desired consistency. Pour over the mango mixture and stir gently to swirl. Top with seeds, if desired. Enjoy!

How To Make Ginger Tea (Two Methods + Flavor Options)

filtered water

3.5 oz ginger (fresh)

lemon (sliced)

honey (or another natural sweetener (optional))

In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.

Meanwhile, clean and chop your fresh ginger into 1-2&quot; pieces. I use roughly 1-2 slices of ginger per cup of tea.If you use non-organic ginger, you will want to first peel it.

Add the ginger to the saucepan* and stir, then reduce the heat to a low simmer and leave this to simmer for five minutes. You can leave it for slightly longer if you want even stronger tea.

Strain the tea into mugs/teacups and then add a thin slice ( or two) of fresh lemon to each cup ( or even some lemon juice) and a drizzle of honey. Stir well and enjoy it!

Using Fresh Ginger:

Whenever I make ginger juice, I save the pulp into teaspoon-sized servings in an ice-cube tray. Once frozen, I pop them into a silicone bag and remove them as needed.

When making this tea, remove 1-2 tsp sized pieces of pulp from the freezer and place it in a tea strainer.

Pour the boiling water over the pulp and then leave to steep for 5-10 minutes. The flavor of ginger pulp tea will differ from that using fresh ginger. Not only because of the change in the steeping method, but also the texture of the ginger.

Once steeped, add lemon slices and honey and enjoy your honey ginger tea!

Add and whisk

In a small saucepan, add water, turmeric, lemon juice, honey and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.

Boil

Heat the pan over high heat. When the tea just starts to boil, turn the heat down to low and simmer for 10 minutes.

Rest

Once the tea is finished simmering, turn off the heat and let the tea cool for a minute or two.

Serve

Pour the tea into a mug through a strainer to remove the black pepper and enjoy.

8 ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRINKS | to enjoy for health & wellness

A spicy punchy concentrate made of fresh ginger peels/ginger, water and any sweetener of your choice. A perfect handy extract to use in teas, decoctions, juice which adds a nice spicy zing to the drinks.

HOMEMADE GINGER EXTRACT

Ginger peels

tbsp Ginger (freshly grated)

Palm jaggery

Water

Wash the ginger root before peeling under running water until you see all the dirt has been removed and clear water running under.

Peel the ginger root and keep aside.

Now heat a saucepan and add 2 cups of water and let it come to a rolling boil.

Add the peels to the boiling water and lower the flame and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.

Turn off the heat and let the juices of peels get infused in the water overnight or for at least 6 hours.(This helps extracting the maximum flavor from the peels)

In the morning soak the jaggery/sugar in ½ cup of water and let it dissolve completely.

Now turn on the heat for the saucepan, add 2 tbsps of freshly grated ginger again and bring it to a rolling boil.

Now add in soaked jaggery/sugar water and let the mixture reduce by 40% to make a strong concentrate.

Turn off the heat now and let it come down to a room temperature.

Later sieve the mixture and transfer it to a glass jar, refrigerate and use up to 2 weeks for maximum freshness.

A simple DIY on how to juice ginger with and without a juicer - plus some idea on how to use this highly nutritious, superfood ginger juice and even save the pulp!

How to Make Ginger Juice

I always suggest using organic ginger - which doesn&#039;t need to be peeled. However, if you&#039;re unable to, then scrub and peel your ginger. You can peel ginger really quickly and easily according to this method.

Slice the ginger into small pieces, big enough to fit through the mouth of the juicer and simply feed the pieces in the machine.

That&#039;s literally all you need to do as the juicer will do the rest, extracting ginger juice within seconds - feeding the pulp into one container and the juice into another. (See tips on how to use it below)

The Juicer Method:

To begin, chop the ginger into small pieces, around 1 inch in thickness, and add to the blender. If I&#039;m juicing a large amount of ginger in one go (1lb/500g, for example) then I&#039;ll usually do this in two lots.

Along with the ginger pour in around 1 cup of filtered water and blend until smooth.

Strain the ginger juice through a nut milk bag, cheesecloth, or sieve into a container, squeezing the pulp to get as much of the liquid out as possible. Then pour in your container of choice.

The Blender method:

Store the fresh ginger juice either in a large, airtight glass bottle in the fridge or within smaller shot-sized bottles. This fresh juice will only stay fresh for 2-3 days in the fridge though, so my preferred method is to store any additional juice in the freezer.

You can freeze the ginger juice into portioned ice-cubes, that way you can just pop however much you need out at a time. Fresh ginger juice is freezer-friendly for up to six months.You can defrost the juice as needed for morning shots or add the ice-cubes to smoothies, other drinks, marinades, etc.

Healthy, but yet tastes like dessert. So yummy and nutrient-packed...the best drink you make all week!

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Latte Shake

milk

dates

bananas, ideally frozen

old fashioned oats

peanut butter

hemp seeds

sea salt

espresso ((optional))

vanilla extract

1. In a blender, combine the milk and dates, let sit 5-10 minutes. Add the bananas, oats, peanut butter, hemp seeds/flax (if using), and a pinch of sea salt. Blend until smooth. If desired, add ice. 2. In a glass jar filled with ice, combine the espresso and vanilla. Shake vigorously for 1 minute. Pour into a glass. Pour over the shake. Stir to combine. 3. Top with a drizzle of peanut butter, shaved chocolate, and sea salt. Enjoy!

In a glass jar, combine the water, ginger, turmeric, cayenne, honey, molasses, and lemon juice. Shake well to combine. Chill until ready to drink. Shake before serving.

Add ice to 2 glasses, pour over the water and top with sparkling water. Drink. Garnish with citrus slices and fresh mint.

4 Ways to Juice a Watermelon (+ Watermelon Keg)

Gather the watermelon flesh. Since it&#39;s going to be juiced, there&#39;s no need to spend time cutting nice even pieces. You can simply chop the melon in half and scoop out the flesh with a spoon.

Perhaps surprisingly, using a juicer for watermelon juice is actually my least favorite method. All you need to do is chop your melon down to size, enough to fit your juicer chute. However, I&#39;ve found that the remaining pulp is still quite &#39;wet&#39;, so it&#39;s not optimal.

Watermelon Juicer Method

You may need to do this in batches, based on how much melon you&#39;re juicing. Place the watermelon flesh in your food processor/blender and process into a juice. This should only take 30-60 seconds!

Then, use a nut milk bag or sieve to remove the broken-up seed pieces and any pulp.

Using a Food Processor/Blender

Place the watermelon flesh in a large bowl or container (i.e. the one that comes with the immersion blender- but this would need to be done in batches). Then use the blender to blend the flesh into a thick pulpy juice.

With this method, the seeds will get crushed too, so you will still need to seive the juice if preferred. Otherwise, you can keep the fiber/pulp in the juice for extra roughage.

Using a Handheld/Immersion Blender

Place the watermelon flesh in a large nut milk bag. Holding it over a large bowl, squeeze the bag with your hands to manually juice the watermelon. There&#39;s no need to go through a second sieve step, as you&#39;re already leaving the pulp behind!

Juice a watermelon by hand

All you need to make this watermelon keg/ dispenser are a large watermelon, a sharp knife, a blender (immersion or jug), and a tap and stand ( or anything to keep the melon up-right).Tip * Alternatively, if you can&#39;t find anything to use as a &#39;stand&#39;, you can cut a very thin layer of melon from the bottom. Just enough to keep it upright, without going all the way through the rind.

Cut off the top of the watermelon and set it aside. Then, with a knife or a scooper, break down a bit of the watermelon flesh.

Use either a hand-held blender to blend the watermelon juice directly in the watermelon rind or you can scoop out the flesh and blend/juice it separately using the methods above.If you are blending directly in the watermelon, pour it out from time to time and sieve to remove the seeds (not needed if you use a seedless melon). Set the juice aside. Make sure to scoop out all the watermelon flesh from inside the rind.

Place the tap in your watermelon keg. Make sure it&#39;s low enough so all the juice can be dispensed, then press the tap against the skin to leave a slight mark. You can then use a sharp knife to make an incision - slightly smaller than the mark. Then, Insert the tap through the rind.Pro Tips: Check if there&#39;s any flesh that has gotten into the end of the tap - it could potentially block the flow. Also, make sure you close the tap before you pour in the juice.

Pour in the sieved juice. You can optionally add some mint and ice cubes. Place the top of the watermelon as a lid. Enjoy your watermelon keg! Pro tip: Make sure the lid doesn&#39;t completely block the airflow, as then you cannot use the tap. Leave it slightly open or make a small incision in the back so the air can go in. You&#39;re now left with a delicious, fun fruity party drink or healthy treat to enjoy all day long! Plus friends and family are sure to love this creative way to use watermelon!
