Instead, it is packed with fresh, lively flavors that wake up anything you serve with it. Unlike some of the more traditional or popular recipes for coleslaw, we skip the addition of sugar to our coleslaw dressing. For our tastes, the cabbage and carrots are sweet enough. If you disagree, add a teaspoon or two of sugar to the dressing before mixing with the cabbage and carrot. Try this as a topping to sandwiches, served next to ultra-savory meats, like braised beef or pork. Or, mound some on top of your next hot dog or hamburger.

Hey guys! First and foremost, I would love to congratulate for your lovely website and the amazing recipes you share with us. The hummus and falafel recipes are our favorite. On following the recipe to the T, it really turns out very well. My whole family has become a fan of my Mediterranean cooking. Thank you very much. I had a question for this coleslaw recipe. I want to make this slaw tonight as a spread for sandwich, and I don’t have celery seeds. Any recommendations for substitution! Keep posting these great recipes. We love them❤️

Was not a hit.  Took to a family gathering and many left it on their plate :(  The vinegar flavor was overpowering.

This was a nice recipe for Lockdown-20, and fortunately we had all the ingredients at hand. My immediate supervisor (you know) found the dressing a bit flat and the salad’s texture a bit monotonous. So we added 1/4 c wildflower honey for  flavor contrast  and a 1/2 c California raisins for textural interest.   Those minor modifications  resulted in a true winning recipe which we’ll make again with certainty. Served to accompany a grilled Alaskan Salmon sandwich on toasted focaccia roll. Come to think of it, the slaw would be good as a sandwich topping, too. Great with Prosecco.

Wow! I also made this recipe with vegannaise and just a bag of prechopped coleslaw mix and it was absolutely delicious.

This coleslaw recipe is amazingly delicious.  I made it today and I couldn’t stop eating it.  I used Hellman’s mayonnaise, but would like to try the homemade mayonnaise recipe another time.  The only thing I added that was not in the recipe was a little shredded onion, maybe 1 tablespoon.  After making this recipe, I’ll have no reason to buy store bought coleslaw or get take-out coleslaw. The other thing I like is that you know what’s in the coleslaw without any  Thank You Inspired Taste for posting this recipe.

Best Homemade Coleslaw

head red cabbage (shredded)

carrots (shredded)

red onion (shredded)

mayonnaise

Dijon mustard

lemon juice

Tablespoons sugar

poppy seeds

salt (to taste)

Using a sharp knife, shred the cabbage, carrots, and onions, and combine all shredded vegetables in a large serving bowl.

In a smaller bowl, whisk together all of the ingredients for the dressing. Pour the dressing over the coleslaw vegetables just before serving and toss gently to combine.

This coleslaw is best eaten day-of, but it will last 3-5 days in the refrigerator.

BEST Homemade Coleslaw - How To

A quick and easy creamy coleslaw with plenty of crunch - just like those luxury supermarket versions. Made at home in 5 minutes.

Homemade Coleslaw

white cabbage ((or 1 small white cabbage))

carrots

brown onion (peeled)

(240 grams) mayonnaise

sour cream

tbsp white wine vinegar

tsp salt

tsp sugar (granulated

mustard powder

white pepper

Julienne the white cabbage and the 2 carrots using a mandoline, so you have fine, even, strips. Place in a large bowl.

Carefully grate (shred) the quarter of an onion using a grater and add the onion to the bowl.

Add the cup (240g) of mayonnaise, 3 tbsp sour cream, 1 tbsp white wine vinegar, 1/2 tsp salt, 2 tsp sugar, 1/8 tsp mustard powder and the pinch of white pepper.

Stir everything together until thoroughly combined.

Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate until needed (up to 2-3 days).

There's no need to buy a big tub of coleslaw with an annoyingly short expiration date when you can whip up a perfect sized batch of homemade coleslaw in 5 minutes.

The Best Coleslaw Recipe

green cabbage (finely shredded)

red cabbage (finely shredded)

tbsp apple cider vinegar

tbsp honey ((or more for desired sweetness))

tsp black pepper

Add the shredded green cabbage, red cabbage, and carrots to a large bowl. 

Combine the mayonnaise, honey, apple cider vinegar, salt, pepper, and celery seeds in a small bowl and whisk together. (If you want the dressing to be sweeter, add more honey.)

Pour about half of the dressing onto the cabbage and carrots and toss. Slowly add more dressing until you’ve reached your desired slaw to dressing ratio.

Serve and enjoy!

COLESLAW RECIPE - 2 WAYS | classic coleslaw + vinegar coleslaw (no mayo coleslaw)

My favorite creamy coleslaw stays crunchy, not soupy, and gets a bit of bite in this slightly sweetened, vinegar spiked mayonnaise dressing.

How to Make THE BEST Creamy Coleslaw

coleslaw mix

sugar

salt

cider vinegar

celery salt

onions

parsley leaves (chopped)

Pour the coleslaw mix into a strainer and place in the sink. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of the sugar and 1/4 cup of the kosher salt and lightly toss. Let sit for 5 minutes to draw out the moisture from the cabbage and then rinse well with cold water. Spin the coleslaw mix in a salad spinner and place in a large bowl.*

For the dressing, in a medium bowl mix the mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons sugar, cinder vinegar, celery salt, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, chopped onions and chopped parsley. Whisk well and pour 2/3 of the dressing over the cabbage mixture, and toss to combine. Add more of the dressing as desired and season with more salt, pepper or parsley to taste.

Refrigerate for 30 minutes up to overnight and serve.

This will quickly become your new favorite creamy coleslaw recipe. It is made easily with simple ingredients, and it is creamier than KFC coleslaw.

Place the carrots, cabbage, and onions in a large bowl. 

Whisk together the mayonnaise, granulated sugar, milk, apple cider vinegar, and lemon juice in a medium bowl.

Add the dressing to the shredded cabbage mixture and stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Add cabbage to an extra-large mixing bowl. Use paper towels to squeeze out any excess moisture form shredded carrot, then add to the bowl along with green onion and toss to combine.

Dressing: whisk ingredients together in a medium bowl. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Pour dressing over veggies and toss well to coat evenly.

Refrigerate for several hours or overnight before serving, for best results.

I am a cole slaw snob, self-professed, and have quite a few recipes gathered and created.  I have to ketofy mine, but that takes nothing away from this gorgeous recipe.

What a beautifully balanced recipe this is!  Just tasting the sauce, I could tell that it was an absolute winner.  

If you don't know how to make cole slaw, and you want to start with a top-notch basic, you can't go wrong with this recipe! 

I did not use the celery seeds because I did not have them on hand, instead, I replaced the salt with celery salt and that worked out beautifully.  (Or people who have Beau Monde from Spice Island could also use that, as it's main ingredient is celery salt.)   

For my first go, I used 4 cups of red cabbage and a bit of green pepper that needed to be used up.  Honestly folks, you can use this sauce for any cabbage slaw variation.  My sauce went over the top to WOW when I added in 1/2 t of Door Country Cherry Balsamic vinegar, but it was just a spontaneous add in, because I received that as a gift.  Not needed at all and I would not ever use that for a green cabbage slaw. 

Thank you so much!  I can't wait for my daughter to come home so that I can make this for her.  (She gave me the Cherry Balsamic.)  

PS. My keto version used a faux honey substitute (Nature's Hollow...NOT affiliated!)  that has xylitol in it.  I was shocked at how well that worked.   I just share this in case there are other keto people looking for adjustment ideas.)

Best Coleslaw Recipe

Vinegar Coleslaw is a healthy coleslaw recipe using a no mayo coleslaw dressing including vinegar, oil and salt and pepper.&nbsp;

Vinegar Coleslaw

red wine vinegar

vegetable oil

Kosher salt

Mix Dressing

In a small mixing bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the 1/3 cup red wine vinegar, 3 tablespoon vegetable oil, 1 teaspoon Kosher salt, 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper and sugar until 2 tablespoons sugar and salt dissolves. This step is important so that you don&#39;t get grainy bits of undissolved sugar or salt in your coleslaw.

Toss

Pour over the 14 ounces coleslaw mix. Toss well. I find that using forks works best for coleslaw.

Chill

Cover and refrigerate for 1-24 hours. If you remember to toss it every few hours, great, if not, it will be fine.

Drain &amp; Serve

Drain excess liquid before serving. The cabbage will lose its water, so you will have more liquid than you started with. This is normal.
