Classic Potato Salad

Wow...I have tried many potato salad recipes but this is my all time favorite.  I used smoked paprika and added garlic salt, but otherwise, stuck with the recipe.  Amazing!  Thanks for sharing!!!

Its a good basic recipe.  Made it for Father’s Day.  Added celery.  No lemon juice.  And it was still a hit.

Best Potato Salad Recipe

lb gold potatoes (, scrubbed)

apple cider vinegar

Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, continue to cook until just fork tender, about 20 minutes. Drain; slightly cool about 5-10 minutes. Peel the potatoes (optional) and cut into cubes. Place into a medium bowl; set aside.

In a small bowl, combine the vinegar, salt and pepper. Pour over the warm cubed potatoes and gently mix. Place in the refrigerator to chill for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, in a large bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, mustard and celery seed. Stir in the celery, onions, and pickles until evenly coated. Add the cooled potatoes and the eggs; gently mix. Season to taste with additional salt and pepper. Optional: Garnish with dill and paprika.

Bring a large pot of water to boil. Generously salt the water and add the cut potatoes. Boil until fork tender for about 15-20 minutes, checking every couple minutes towards the end of cooking. Drain the potatoes.

In a large bowl, whisk together the white wine vinegar, salt, pepper and sugar. Pour the warm potatoes into the vinegar mixture and gently mix with a rubber spatula to combine.

Whisk together the mayonnaise and sour cream. Pour over the potatoes and gently fold in.

Add the remaining ingredients and gently stir to combine. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour and up to 6 hours. Enjoy!

This recipe for the best potato salad is light and flavorful. Potatoes, celery, onions and eggs are combined with a delicious homemade dressing infused with herbs and spices.

Quarter potatoes (or halve if they are small red potatoes) and place them in a 5-quart saucepan. Fill the pan with cold water until the potatoes are covered by 1”

Bring water to a boil and boil until the potatoes are soft and easily pierced with a fork (but not falling apart).

Drain the potatoes in a colander and let them cool until they are cool enough to touch. Mix/toss them every few minutes to help release heat from the bottom layer of potatoes.

Once the potatoes are cool enough to handle, peel the skins off of them, then dice them into ½” pieces.

Transfer the diced potatoes to a large bowl (preferably one with a lid because you will be chilling the salad).

Prepare the Potatoes

While the potatoes are boiling, make the dressing.

Whisk together mayonnaise, mustard, honey, lemon juice, sea salt, pepper, paprika and fresh dill in a small bowl until combined.

Make the Dressing

Add the celery, green onions, and hard-boiled eggs to the diced potatoes in the large bowl. Stir to combine.

Add the dressing and mix until evenly distributed.

Assemble

Cover the potato salad and chill in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours, or overnight.

Sprinkle with additional fresh dill and serve cold.

I used Type C red potatoes, I didn't peel them, gives some extra color (or I'm lazy!).

Made this and it was delicious! I normally use yellow mustard instead of Dijon and also relish! I followed the directions and the dressing is awesome!

I also add sweet relish &amp; some diced red &amp; green bell peppers.  The bell peppers give it a nice crunch &amp; great added flavor!

This is close to what I make.  I use a lot of hard boiled eggs and six is common. I also use drained pimentos. Depending upon the size of the salad I may use a large jar and a small jar. I also use sweet pickle relish but ultimately I can and have you deal relish both work well. Some people put in crumbled up bacon but I don't. Nor do I use celery and especially not onion with people having allergies to it. I put hard-boiled eggs sliced on top for a decoration and sprinkle it with paprika.

I just made the chocolate chip cookies.  Easy recipe ....Due to health issues I cut sugar to 3/4 on white and brown; and used salted butter and omitted the salt.  They were sweet enough and did not notice the difference w/o salt because we are salt free people.. Thanks for recipe
