Combine all the ingredients in a small pot and whisk until the sugar and cornstarch have dissolved. The sauce will have a slightly milky brown appearance.

Heat the sauce over medium, while whisking, until it begins to simmer. Once it begins to simmer the cornstarch will thicken the sauce and it will turn from cloudy to shiny in appearance. Serve immediately.

Serve the sweet and sour sauce immediately or refrigerate for up to one week.

Instant Pot Meat Sauce Recipe

Set a 6-qt Instant Pot® to the high saute setting. Add olive oil, onion, carrot and celery. Cook, stirring occasionally, until onions in the pot are translucent, about 4-5 minutes.

Add pancetta and cook for 2 minutes or so. Add ground beef and cook it until it’s browned about 7-10 minutes. Don’t forget to use a wooden spoon to break the meat up into small pieces in the pot; drain excess fat.

Stir in garlic, tomato paste, dried basil, Italian seasoning, salt and black pepper.

Stir in beef stock, scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce and bay leaves.

Put on the lid, lock it and check to see if the vent is at sealing. Then, select manual setting; adjust pressure to high, and set time for 20 minutes. Mine took about 15 minutes to reach pressure. After the 20 minutes is up, do a Quick Release, which means move the valve to venting to release the steam.

Select low sauté setting and simmer the sauce uncovered for about 5 minutes. Don’t forget to stir often.

Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Add the olive oil and garlic to a sauce pot and cook over medium heat for 1-2 minutes, or just until the garlic is soft and fragrant.

Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, basil, oregano, some freshly cracked pepper (10-15 cranks of a pepper mill), and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.

Cover the pot, allow the pot to come to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, and let simmer for 15 minutes minimum, or up to 30 minutes (I often let it simmer as I prepare my pizza dough).

The best homemade red enchilada sauce recipe. This recipe has lots of flavor and is pretty much effortless! Believe me, you&#x27;ll never go back to the canned enchilada sauce again! Simple to make and can be frozen for later use.

Homemade Red Enchilada Sauce

Combine the chipotle pepper, adobo sauce, and 1/2 cup of the chicken stock in a blender. Blend until the chipotle pepper completely blends down with no solids remaining.

Heat the oil in medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the flour and whisk for 1 minute, making sure the mixture doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan. Add the tomato sauce, chili powder, garlic powder, cumin powder, dried oregano, onion powder, and salt. Continue to whisk and add the chipotle pepper mixture. Once the sauce starts to thicken, add the chicken stock 1/2 cup at a time. When the sauce is just thick enough to coat the back of the spoon, remove from heat.

Instant Pot Teriyaki Chicken {Better than take-out!}

In Instant Pot, add water, maple syrup or honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger and chicken.

Close the lid, set pressure vent to Sealing and press Pressure Cooking on High for 10 minutes if using boneless chicken or 20 minutes for bone in chicken.

Display will say ON, Instant Pot will take about 15 minutes to come to pressure, you will see a bit of steam coming out from a valve, then float valve will rise and countdown will begin.

After 10 or 20 minutes, Instant Pot will beep and display will say OFF. Wait 5 minutes and then turn pressure valve to Venting position to release remaining pressure.

Open the lid, shred chicken right in the pot and press Saute (cancel Keep Warm if it’s on).

In a small bowl, whisk cold water and cornstarch with a fork, pour over chicken and stir gently. Cook for a few minutes until sauce has thickened a bit.

Serve with brown rice or quinoa, garnished with sesame seeds and green onion.

An authentic Pad Thai sauce (with gluten-free, paleo, vegetarian/vegan variations in the notes) for making Pad Thai noodles. Recipes makes 1.5 cups (enough for 6 servings of Pad Thai) and stores in the refrigerator for 3-4 weeks.

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. Simmer until the brown sugar is dissolved, 2 to 3 minutes. (Do not let it reduce any further once the sugar is dissolved or it won't be the right consistency for making pad thai.)

IMPORTANT: At this point, you need to taste the sauce and adjust it to fit your taste. Some people like their sauce a bit more sweet, so if that's you, add a bit more sugar and simmer for another minute. If you prefer a bit more salty/umami flavor, add a bit more soy or fish sauce. You can also add a bit of lime zest if you like a more pronounced citrus flavor. With all the flavorful elements of this sauce, you'll love it the most if you adjust it suit your own unique taste preferences.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 weeks.

Summer Skillet Gnocchi with Burst Cherry Tomato Sauce

In a 12-inch cast-iron skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic; cook until softened. Next, add the cherry tomatoes in one layer.

Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, tossing occasionally, until tomatoes begin to lose their round shape.

In the meantime prepare gnocchi according to package directions.

Stir in most of the fresh basil and a pinch of red pepper flakes.

Add mozzarella, stir until it just begins to melt.

I have a package of gnocchi that I haven't been quite sure what to do with, but now I know! This recipe just jumps out to me. I can't get enough tomatoes and basil this time of year, and love the added bocconcini!

This is definitely a perfect summer gnocchi dish. With those sweet summer tomatoes, I can only imagine how delicious this might be.

Creamy Garlic Pizza Sauce is a delicious alternative to standard tomato based pizza sauce. This is a rich, white sauce, with lots of garlic flavor.

Creamy Garlic Pizza Sauce

tbsp butter

tbsp all purpose flour

tsp black pepper

tsp salt

tsp dried, oregano

milk

parmesan cheese

Over medium low heat, melt butter in a medium sized saucepan. Then add in your minced garlic and saute in the butter for about a minute.

Whisk in the flour and all the spices and cook this thick flour mixture for another minute. Then slowly pour in the milk, while whisking, until you reach your desired thickness. It may be slightly lumpy at first, but as you continue to whisk the sauce,  the lumps break down and become well incorporated in the sauce.

Once the sauce is thickened and lumps have dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the parmesan cheese.

You can use this immeditately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it.

One of the staple sauces I always have in my fridge is a bottle of homemade teriyaki sauce. Authentic teriyaki sauce actually only requires 4 basic ingredients but I love to add some garlic and ginger in mine for extra flavour.I also shared two recipe options below--the first is a more authentic teriyaki sauce while the second is an alternative teriyaki sauce recipe that don’t use any mirin or sake.

Easy Homemade Teriyaki Sauce

sake (or add more mirin)

mirin

soy sauce

sugar ((55 g))

garlic ginger

tbsp corn starch

soy sauce (see notes)

sugar (or adjust according to desired sweetness)

ginger garlic

tbsp room temperature water

Heat a medium-sized sauce pan over medium heat.

Add in the sake, mirin, soy sauce, and sugar.

Leave to simmer over medium high heat until it starts to boil.

Add in the garlic and ginger, if using. Keep mixing until the sugar has completely dissolved.

Leave to boil over medium high heat until the sauce starts to thicken a little. Note that the sauce will not thicken like a glaze but will slightly thicken from the sugars. If using as a marinade or sauce to cook other dishes, you can opt not to thicken it like a glaze.

If you’d like to thicken this sauce into a glaze, prepare the cornstarch slurry by mixing the cornstarch and water together.

While mixing, pour in the slurry into the teriyaki sauce and leave to boil until it thickens.

Mix well and then when it boils, lower the heat. Continue stirring to ensure the starch doesn&#039;t stick at the bottom of the pan.

Once it thickens, taste the sauce, and adjust the seasonings accordingly. Turn off the heat. It’ll continue to thicken as it cools.

Transfer the sauce/glaze into a jar and leave it to cool completely before storing. See storage tips below.

Enjoy your teriyaki sauce/glaze by cooking it with your favourite protein, as a sauce for noodles, fried rice, or as a delicious marinade—it’s totally up to you! Teriyaki sauce is really so versatile.
