Place peeled &amp; cut potatoes and herbs into a large stockpot.

Add cold water to the pot until the ingredients are covered by ½” water.

Cover the pot and bring water to a boil.

Once boiling, uncover and boil until the potatoes are cooked and fork-tender (about 25-35 minutes). They are done when they fall apart when touched with a fork.

Drain potatoes and remove herb sprigs.

Put potato pieces through a potato ricer, and rice them into a medium bowl. Set aside.

Add garlic and butter to a large stockpot. Melt butter and sauté garlic for 1 minute.

Add riced potatoes to the butter and garlic and stir to combine.

Add whole milk and half and half and stir to combine.

Add chopped chives, salt and pepper. Stir until evenly distributed.

Taste and adjust seasonings to your liking.

Serve warm.

Peel potatoes and rinse in cold water (cut potatoes in half if very large). If you want the smoothest potatoes possible, remove the little knots from the potatoes with a small spoon or the tip of a potatoes peeler. Place potatoes in a large pot (5 Qt+) and cover potatoes with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook partially covered until easily pierced with a knife (boil 20-25 min depending on the size of your potatoes; mine took 22 min).

Drain well and transfer to the bowl of your stand mixer. Grab the whisk attachment and mash potatoes lightly by hand to break them up. Fit mixer with whisk attachment and start on low speed 30 sec then increase to medium and slowly drizzle in 1 to 1 1/4 cups of the HOT milk to reach your desired texture.

With mixer on, add softened butter 1 Tbsp at a time, waiting a few seconds between each addition. Potatoes will be whipped and fluffy. Finally add 1 1/2 tsp salt, or add to taste.

The BEST Mashed Potatoes

lbs potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold, preferred)

milk (whole if possible)

heavy cream

sour cream

salt and pepper

Peel the potatoes and rinse. Cut the potatoes in half or quarters depending on the size. 

Place potatoes in a large dutch oven or stock pot. Cover potatoes with cold, salted water. The water should cover the potatoes by at least one inch.

Bring the water to a boil and cook just until the potatoes are fork tender, about 15 minutes. Drain the potatoes and return to the hot pot.

Allow the potatoes to sit in the pot for about 5 minutes so any additional moisture can evaporate.

Add softened butter to the potatoes and mash until desired consistency is reached.

Add in the hot milk and cream a little at a time mashing until your desired consistency is achieved. You don&#x27;t need to use all of the milk or cream.

Finally, stir in the sour cream and add salt and pepper to taste.

Transfer the potatoes to a large bowl. Mash them with a potato masher, then add heavy whipping cream, butter, salt, dried parsley, and black pepper. Mix until all is well combined.

Taste and adjust salt as needed. Serve and enjoy!

Drain potatoes and place them in a large mixing bowl. Using a hand mixer with beaters, break the potatoes up in the bowl. Add 1 stick of softened butter, garlic powder, ground white pepper, and salt. Mix with a hand mixer for 30 seconds on high.

Add sour cream and warmed milk to the bowl. Beat on high until no lumps remain in potatoes.

Add 4 tbsp butter to the top of potatoes and allow to melt. Add finely chopped chives and serve immediately

Heat

Mash

Add the butter, 1½ teaspoons kosher salt, and ½ teaspoon black pepper. Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy (or fluff adding some of the reserved potato milk-water, when/if necessary. (Note: If not serving the potatoes immediately, save about 1 cup of the milk-water to add before serving. Be sure to add the milk-water in ¼-cup increments to ensure the potatoes stay fluffy. No one likes watery mashed potatoes.)

Transfer potatoes to a serving bowl, dot with 3-4 tabs of butter (or drizzle with melted butteand garnish with parsley or cheese, if desired.

Immediately return the drained potatoes to the empty hot pot. Let the potatoes rest in the hot pot for 2-3 minutes to evaporate any extra moisture.

Add the butter pieces to the potatoes in the pot. Use a potato masher to mash the potatoes.
