Best Vegan Matcha Latte

matcha powder ((see our Matcha Review!))

Tbsp maple syrup ((or stevia

Tbsp water

light coconut milk (DIY coconut milk) (I prefer canned Whole Foods 365 organic)

macadamia nut milk

tsp maca root powder

tsp ashwaganda

Tbsp (15 g) coconut butter

Add matcha powder to your serving mug along with sweetener of choice and hot water. (If adding add-ins like maca, ashwaganda, or coconut butter, add at this time.)

Whisk with a bamboo whisk or a metal whisk until completely dissolved. If you don't have a bamboo whisk, you can use a spoon or a metal whisk or even blend the latte in a blender. Bamboo whisks are gentle on the matcha and also help it dissolve more completely. So if you like matcha, I recommend investing! Otherwise, use what you have.

Once the matcha is completely dissolved, heat* your coconut and macadamia milk (or other dairy-free milks). I added mine to a frothing pitcher and steamed on our espresso machine, but you could also heat in the microwave or on the stovetop until hot and steamy. To get more froth, you can whisk vigorously or use a handheld frother.

Pour dairy-free milk into your mug - latte art optional (mine was a little sad - lol). Taste and add more sweetener if needed. I found that, when I used the macadamia nut milk, I only needed a bit of maple syrup or stevia to sweeten. Enjoy immediately.

Iced Matcha Green Tea Latte

vanilla almond milk (or another milk of your choice)

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend on medium-high speed until the matcha powder is dissolved, about 30 seconds. Taste, and add more sweetener if desired. Pour over ice.

How to Make a Nitro Matcha Latte at Home

Begin by sifting you rmatcha powder through a sieve. Add your warm water and whisk until smooth, and no clumps remain (also see: ultimate matcha guide).

Next, pour matcha into your nitro canister along with milk. Be sure the mixture is not hot. Hot liquids should not be added to your nitro canister.

Charge your canister with 2 nitrogen cartridges (N2) and shake for 10-15 seconds.

Holding your canister upside down, release into a large glass cup. Enjoy!

Here's how to make a matcha latte! This recipe comes out bright green and rivals the one at your local coffeeshop. For iced, go to Iced Matcha Latte.

Matcha Latte

matcha green tea powder*

(1/4 cup) cool filtered water

honey (or maple syrup)

(1/4 cup) hot water (175 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit)

Whisk the matcha

Add the matcha to a spouted bowl or glass liquid measuring cup. Add a drizzle of the cool water and whisk the matcha with a bamboo whisk or regular whisk to form it into a paste. Add the remaining cool water and whisk vigorously back and forth until a thick foamy layer appears, about 20 to 30 seconds. Or, you can simply shake the matcha powder and cool water in a jar until frothy.

Combine with water and honey

Stir the hot water and honey in a mug. Pour the foamy matcha into the mug and stir gently.

Steam or froth the milk

Steam the milk with an espresso machine or froth the milk using your method of choice (milk frother, French press, or whisk).

Serve

Pour the steamed or frothed milk into the center of the matcha and serve.

Splendid. After trying so many times following so many recipes to get it right, this is it. Idk if it’s science or magic or both, but the cold water step is what makes it 🤌🏾

Heat almond milk. You can use the microwave, stovetop or a milk frother. If using sweetener or flavorings, add before warming almond milk. Pour warmed almond milk in a mug.

Pour frothed matcha mixture over warmed almond milk, stir to combine and enjoy.

How to make a matcha latte (with almond milk)

matcha powder ((ceremonial grade is preferred))

Add the matcha powder to a small flat-bottomed bowl. Gently swirl the matcha powder across the bottom of the bowl using the matcha whisk (this will reduce clumping).

Pour in the hot water and whisk together using the matcha whisk in a W-shape until it’s smooth and foamy. (You can also use an electric hand whisk if you don&#39;t have a bamboo whisk). Pour the matcha into a cup.

Froth the almond milk using a milk frother or an electric hand whisk, or warm the milk in a small saucepan. Pour the warm milk over the matcha to fill the cup. Optional to add agave to sweeten if desired. (A good quality matcha will not need sweetener as it won&#39;t be bitter, see blog post for details). Sip and enjoy!
