The night before: Place the racks in the upper and lower thirds of your oven and preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Arrange the bread slices in a single layer on two large baking sheets. Toast the bread in the oven until it is very lightly toasted and feels dry to the touch on top&nbsp;but is not yet turning brown, about 8 to 10 minutes, switching the pans’ positions on the upper and lower racks halfway through. Transfer to a cutting board and cut in half diagonally (this is easiest while the slices are still warm). Let cool slightly.

Meanwhile, butter a 9×13-inch casserole dish. In a small bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. In a large bowl, whisk together the evaporated milk, milk, eggs, maple syrup, vanilla, lemon or orange zest, salt, and remaining 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.

Fan the bread slices into the pan, arranging them however you like. Check out the photos above for inspiration, or make the arrangement your own.

Pour the custard mixture evenly over the top of the bread. Lightly press down the slices, sprinkle on the cinnamon-sugar mixture, and cover the pan with foil. Let sit for 15 minutes or refrigerate overnight.

When ready to bake: Place a rack in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. (If you’ve been refrigerating the French toast, remove it from the refrigerator now and let it come to room temperature.) Bake covered for 20 minutes, then uncover and continue baking until the bread is puffed and golden and no liquid seeps out of the toasts when lightly pressed, about 10 additional minutes. Remove from the oven and let rest a few minutes. Slice into squares and serve hot, with any and all of your favorite toppings.

Start by cutting or tearing your bread into bite sized pieces and laying them out on a baking pan.&nbsp; Toast your bread for 10 - 15 minutes at 225 degrees until your bread is crusty.&nbsp;

Remove bread and move to a 9 x 13 baking pan sprayed with non-stick spray.  In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, nutmeg, salt and cinnamon and then pour evenly over your Overnight Challah French Toast Casserole bread.  Lightly push bread down to make sure all the pieces have been covered with the egg mixture.  Cover pan with foil and move the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.&nbsp;

When ready, mix together flour, cinnamon, brown sugar, salt and cold butter in a mixing bowl. Remove Overnight Challah French Toast Casserole from the refrigerator and sprinkle flour mixture evenly over the top. Return the foil to the top of the casserole and bake in the oven for 25 minutes at 350 degree.&nbsp;

After 25 minutes, remove the foil and continue to bake for another 20 - 25 minutes. When done, remove from oven, drizzle with syrup and serve immediately.

Coat a 9x13-inch casserole dish with nonstick spray. Arrange the bread cubes (see notes if the cubes are still very soft or fresh) in an even layer in the pan, then sprinkle the blueberries over the top. Set aside.

Whisk

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, almond milk, maple syrup, lemon zest, lemon juice, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Pour over the bread. Cover the pan tightly with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator overnight. (If overnight is not possible, I recommend a minimum of 2 hours).

Bake

When ready to bake, remove the pan from the refrigerator. Place a rack in the center of your oven and preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Bake, uncovered, for 45 to 55 minutes, until lightly golden brown on top and the bread in the center is moist but no longer liquidy. Serve hot, dusted with powdered sugar and topped with butter and maple syrup, as desired.

Grease

Grease a 9×13″ casserole dish and set aside.

Assemble

Cut the french bread loaf into cubes and layer evenly in the pan. You should have about 2 layers. Beat the milk, eggs, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt in a medium size bowl. Then pour evenly over the bread, making sure it covers each piece. Cover with foil and refrigerate over night, or at least 3 hours.

Make crumble topping

In a medium size bowl, mix together the butter, flour and brown sugar with a pastry cutter or two knives. Use your hands if needed to make crumbs. Cover and refrigerate.

When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350°F. Add the crumb topping on top of the bread and then evenly disperse the berries on top. Bake uncovered for 50-60 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned and the center is cooked through.

Spread bread cubes evenly in the prepared baking dish.

Spray a 9&#215;13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Place the cubed bread into the dish.

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add in the eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Add in the milk, half and half, 1/2 cup of the maple syrup and the vanilla and beat until combined. (There may still be some small chunks of cream cheese, but that is normal.) Pour the mixture over the bread cubes, pressing the bread down to make sure it is all soaked with the liquid. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

The next morning, remove the casserole from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350ºF.

Bake, uncovered, for 50 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. Pour the remaining 1/2 cup of maple syrup over the casserole and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Prepped the night before, this breakfast bake gets thrown in the oven the next morning and just like that, it’s ready to eat. Get to it!

In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and melted butter and pour on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Arrange slices of bread in the baking dish, overlapping if necessary.

Combine milk, eggs, vanilla, salt, cinnamon and ginger in a bowl and pour evenly over bread slices. Sprinkle chopped pecans over bread slices.

Wrap tightly with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 4-12 hours.

In the morning, take the casserole out of the fridge for at least 10 minutes while you are preheat your oven to 350°F.

Bake casserole for 30-35 minutes. If top starts browning too quickly, loosely cover with foil for the last 10 minutes or so to keep the casserole from drying out.

Remove casserole from oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar and a drizzle of maple syrup.

For the caramel:

For the topping

brown sugar or coconut sugar, for sprinkling

Spray a 13x9-inch baking dish or 2 quart casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.

Combine melted butter and brown sugar in a medium bowl, pour the mixture into prepared baking dish, be sure to spread out evenly towards the sides. Sprinkle with chopped pecans. Place cubed bread evenly over the pecan mixture.

In a large bowl, whisk together orange juice, almond milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, eggs and orange zest. Pour egg mixture over the bread, making sure to soak each cube. If there are some dry pieces, simply push them down a bit to soak up some of the egg mixture. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours, but preferably overnight.

Once ready to bake: preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Sprinkle 1/4 cup brown sugar on top of the bread. Bake for 45 minutes-1 hour or until the top of the french toast bake is golden brown. Cool for 5 minutes then cut into 8 servings.

When you plate, flip each piece upside-down so the caramel and pecans are on top. Serve with fresh berries, yogurt, powdered sugar, or maple syrup. Enjoy!
