A lot of pan fried potatoes (or crispy breakfast taters) take way longer than they should. Below are our top tips for pan-fried potato perfection.

Perfect Pan Fried Potatoes

lb. baby potatoes,

vegetable oil

olive oil

tbsp. rosemary

garlic powder (optional)

Great recipe. I added a smoked Gouda cheese sauce and topped them with cheddar, bacon, chives, and parsley. Family loved it!

This is a good recipe, but I just want to add a little!

Grossly underestimates the actual amount of time you need to fry potatoes, but you can actually skip the soaking part which is nice. You really should fry in two batches if you want to actually get your potatoes brown without steaming them. After I fry the second batch, I combine the first with second in the pan and then add a splash of vinegar, and some fresh chopped parsley. 

Taste as you go, but don’t forget a splash of vinegar or even lemon. Just a little goes a long way and really brightens the dish.

i cut the potatoes into 1/4 inch cubes and added onion.  They were amazing, took the leftovers tossed with a bit of mayo, grainy dijon mustard and a tiny squeeze of lemon for a potato salad to have with lunch.  It’s on the summer rotation for surez

Super easy.  This worked out great with potatoes we just harvested out of a grow bag from the backyard.  The timing was very helpful.  I am not good at judging done-ness so the four minutes a side and two minutes stirring really kept me from over cooking.  Used rosemary from the garden and my son requested bacon salt (he tells me it's kosher).  Thank you so much!

I'll definitely make these again. The thinner cut absorbed the spices better, or maybe that was because, except for S&P, I added them close to the end (oregano, powdered garlic, chile powder & rosemary). Medium-high temperature was too high to control burning, a bit closer to medium worked better. Also needed about a teaspoon more oil than the 2 Tabs.

This pan fried potatoes recipe will be an instant family favorite! It will remind you of your grandma&#x27;s pan fried potatoes!

Pan Fried Potatoes

Medium Size Russet Potatoes (peeled

Tbsp Vegetable Oil

onion (chopped (Optional))

Salt

Pepper

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.  I used this cast iron skillet, but any skillet will do.

Add  the sliced potatoes to the skillet.  Cover and cook for 10-15 until the potatoes are browned slightly around the edges and cooked halfway through.

Season liberally with salt and pepper. Then gently stir in the onions.  Cook uncovered for 8-10 minutes stirring frequently until the potatoes are tender and browned.

Serve immediately and enjoy!

Ukrainian Pan Fried Potatoes Recipe

Peel potatoes and cut them into small wedges/fries, keeping them proportional for even cooking.

Rinse peeled potatoes in water, then lay them out on a cutting board and pat dry with paper towel.

Dice 1/2 of the onion. Melt 1 tbsp of butter in the frying pan and saute onion for around 3 min on medium-high heat, stirring frequently.

Next, add potatoes and 2 tbsp of oil, mix everything together. Cover and cook on medium high for around 4-5 min covered until golden. Use a dome-shaped lid for best results.

Reduce heat to medium and cook potatoes for approx. 15 min, stirring every 3-4 min.

Towards the end of cooking, sprinkle potatoes with salt and pepper.

Check for doneness by breaking one of the bigger potato slices. It's done when the potato breaks easily.

These crispy potatoes are such a hit that we make them at least once a week for breakfast, and sometimes for dinner as well!

Instant Pot Crispy Potatoes

Yukon golds,

ghee, potatoes

Sea salt and black pepper

green onions

Your choice of main dish,

Place the cleaned potatoes onto the wire rack, making sure not to go over the &#8216;fill line&#8217; on the side of the Instant Pot, (I use the 6-quart). Check to make sure the potatoes aren&#8217;t touching the sides. Then pour 1 cup of water into the bottom.

Set the Instant Pot to sealing and pressure cook for about 10 minutes for small potatoes, 18 for medium, and 30 for very large potatoes. When the cooking time is done, do a quick release. Then carefully lift out the potatoes to cool.

When you can easily handle the potatoes, cut them into bite sized pieces. Then place them into containers and store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

To serve the potatoes, heat a large (15&#8243;) non-stick skillet over medium high heat. When the pan is hot but not smoking, add the ghee or butter and half of the prepped potatoes. Turn the heat down to medium and sprinkle the potatoes with sea salt and pepper.

Cook until browned before turning them to brown the other side, this takes about 6-8 minutes per side.

At the end of the cooking time, add the green onions and toss to combine. Cook and additional 2 minutes, then serve as desired.

Pan Fried Potatoes with Herbs are buttery, savory, and make for a great weeknight dinner side. They take under 30 minutes to make and pair well with just about everything. All you need are waxy potatoes, herbs, garlic, salt, and olive oil to make this one-pan side dish.

Toss potatoes - In a mixing bowl, toss the potatoes in 2 tablespoons of olive oil, salt, and pepper. 

Cook garlic - Heat a skillet on medium heat and add the remaining 1 tablespoons of olive oil. Once the olive oil heats, add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. 

Pan-fry potatoes - Add the potatoes to the pan and cover the skillet with a lid. Cook the potatoes for about 12-15 minutes until tender on the inside, stirring halfway through.

Make potatoes crispy - Remove the lid and turn the heat up to medium-high. Cook the potatoes for an additional 5 minutes, or until the potatoes become golden and crispy. 

Season potatoes and serve - Remove from heat and toss with herbs. Serve warm if eating as a side or at room temperature if serving as a salad topping.

Wash the potatoes, and dice them into 1/2-inch thick cubes.

Heat up olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat.

Add the potatoes to the frying pan, along with the seasoning. Stir to coat the potatoes evenly with oil and spices.

Cover the potatoes with a lid or aluminum foil. Leave them to cook for about 5-10 minutes, or until they are golden brown on the bottom.

Flip the potatoes, and allow them to fry until they are golden on the other side, and soft enough to easily pierce with a fork, about 5-10 minutes.

Serve the sauteed potatoes immediately while they are warm and crispy.

In the rendered fat also over medium heat cook the onions until they begin to get crispy, then remove from the skillet and set aside.

While the bacon & onions are cooking check on the boiling potatoes.** When you can pierce them with a fork but they still have a bit of firmness to them pour out the hot water and run cold water over them.

As soon as the potatoes have cooled off...

As soon as the potatoes have cooled off enough to be comfortable to touch peel the skins (optional) and cut them into circles, semi-circles or dice them - your choice.

Pan fry the cut potatoes in two batches...

Pan fry the cut potatoes in two batches in the same skillet where you cooked the bacon and onions. Add a tablespoon of cooking oil per batch.*** Do not overcrowd the skillet so the potatoes can brown nicely. Once crispy on one side, flip them to brown them on the other until you are satisfied. 

Add the bacon, onions and your choice of...

Add the bacon, onions and your choice of finely chopped fresh herb to the crispy potatoes and mix them together. Season with salt and pepper and serve!

Perfectly cooked and seasoned crispy potatoes with no need to precook or boil potatoes. This will quickly become a hot commodity in your house and your new favorite potato recipe. 

lbs Yukon Gold potatoes cut into ½-¾ inch cubes (Russet potatoes also work)

In a large bowl, combine the potatoes, oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and fresh ground black pepper. Stir and toss to coat.

Preheat a large skillet over medium heat until a drop of water sizzles on it. Add the potatoes and let them sit undisturbed for 3-4 minutes. Stir them and let them sit for another 3 minutes. Repeat several more times until the potatoes are mostly golden brown. 

Sprinkle in the dried herbs and stir, cooking for 1-2 minutes. Cover the skillet with aluminum foil and cook until the potatoes are fork-tender, stirring every few minutes to keep them from burning. Sprinkle with fresh herbs. 

I tried this recipe with my cousin when we were cooking during a weekend family gathering. They were absolutely delicious and we had a great meal!

Prepare the potatoes. Do not place them in water.

Add the oil to a large cast-iron or non-stick skillet over high heat until it lightly smokes.

Place in the potatoes and make sure they are all 1 level in the pan. It’s important not to overcrowd the pan so that it can properly brown.

Cook the potatoes undisturbed for 4 to 5 minutes.

Next, turn the heat down to medium-high and shake the pan back and forth to move the potatoes around. Let it cook for another 3 to 4 minutes. You can also use a spatula to move the potatoes around.

Return and flip the potatoes in the pan every 2 to 3 minutes until they are well browned on all sides and tender, which takes about 10 minutes.

These are my husband’s favorite way to eat potatoes. I’ll change it up once in a while by adding onion and some cayenne pepper.
