This sesame chicken is crispy chicken pieces tossed in a sweet and savory honey sesame sauce. This version is even better than what you would get at a restaurant!

Sesame Chicken

lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts (cut into 1 inch pieces)

eggs (beaten)

salt and pepper

all purpose flour

cornstarch

vegetable oil

garlic

honey

soy sauce ((reduced sodium if possible))

ketchup

brown sugar

rice vinegar

sesame oil

sesame seeds

green onions

Place the eggs, salt and pepper in a bowl. Stir to combine

Place the flour and 1/2 cup of cornstarch in a shallow bowl or on a plate. Stir to combine.

Dip each piece of chicken into the egg mixture, then into the flour. Repeat the process with all of the chicken.

Heat 3 inches of oil in a deep pan to 350 degrees F

Add 7-8 pieces of chicken to the pan. Cook for 5 minutes or until crispy and golden brown. Repeat the process with the remaining chicken

Drain the chicken on paper towels

While the chicken is cooking, combine the honey, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil and 2 teaspoons of cornstarch in a bowl.

Heat the teaspoon of oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add the honey sauce mixture and bring to a simmer. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until just thickened.

Add the crispy chicken to the pan and toss to coat with the sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions, then serve.

Easy Sesame Chicken

rice or apple cider vinegar

steamed vegetables (like broccoli, snap peas, carrots, baby corn)

In a small bowl, whisk together all ingredients for the sauce. Set aside.

Cook rice and steam vegetables. Set aside.

In a small bowl, whisk egg with cornstarch, salt and pepper. Add chicken pieces to the batter and stir well.

In a large skillet, heat up 1 tablespoons of olive oil. Place chicken, piece by piece, in pan and cook on all sides until the batter is golden and slightly brown. It's easier to cook the chicken in two batches, using 1 tablespoon of oil each time.

Once the chicken is done, pour sauce mixture over it and simmer on medium low heat until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat.

Serve chicken over rice with a side of steamed vegetables.

Crispy chunks of deep-fried battered chicken in a sweet, sour, and savory glaze packed with sesame flavor. The Chinese take-out classic, made in your own kitchen.

The Best Chinese Sesame Chicken Recipe

For the Marinade:

Shaoxing wine (see note)

80-proof vodka

baking soda

corn starch

For the Dry Coating:

flour

baking powder

For the Sauce:

Chinese rice vinegar white vinegar

chicken stock

sugar

sesame seed oil

peanut, vegetable, or canola oil

garlic (about 2 medium cloves)

scallion bottoms (about 1 scallion)

To Finish:

white rice broccoli

For the Marinade: Beat egg whites in a large bowl until broken down and lightly foamy. Add soy sauce, wine, and vodka and whisk to combine. Set aside half of marinade in a small bowl. Add baking soda and corn starch to the large bowl and whisk to combine. Add chicken tp large bowl and turn with fingers to coat thoroughly. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside.

For the Dry Coat: Combine flour, corn starch, baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a large bowl. Whisk until homogenous. Add reserved marinade and whisk until mixture has coarse, mealy clumps. Set aside.

For the Sauce: Combine soy sauce, wine, vinegar, chicken stock, sugar, sesame seed oil, and cornstarch in a small bowl and stir with a fork until cornstarch is dissolved and no lumps remain. Set aside.

Combine oil, garlic, ginger, and minced scallions in a large skillet and place over medium heat. Cook, stirring, until vegetables are aromatic and soft, but not browned, about 3 minutes. Stir sauce mixture and add to skillet, making sure to scrape out any sugar or starch that has sunk to the bottom. Cook, stirring, until sauce boils and thickens, about 1 minute. Add half of sesame seeds. Transfer sauce to a bowl to stop cooking, but don't wipe out skillet.

To Finish: Heat 1 1/2 quarts peanut, vegetable, or canola oil in a large wok or Dutch oven to 350°F and adjust flame to maintain temperature.

Working one piece at a time, transfer chicken from marinade to dry coat mixture, tossing in between each addition to coat chicken. When all chicken is added to dry coat, toss with hands, pressing dry mixture onto chicken so it adheres, and making sure that every piece is coated thoroughly.

Lift chicken one piece at a time, shake off excess coating, and carefully lower into hot oil (do not drop it). Once all chicken is added, cook, agitating with long chopsticks or a metal spider, and adjusting flame to maintain a temperature of 325 to 375°F, until chicken is cooked through and very crispy, about 4 minutes. Transfer chicken to a paper towel-lined bowl to drain.

Add chicken to empty skillet and return sauce to skillet. Toss chicken, folding it with a rubber spatula until all pieces are thoroughly coated. Sprinkle with remaining sesame seeds and serve immediately with white rice and steamed broccoli.

Easy General Tso's Chicken

chicken breasts (about 3 breasts)

hoisin sauce

garlic (3 to 4 cloves)

red pepper (optional)

(3-ounce) packets ramen noodles (seasoning discarded)

green onions, sesame seeds, and more soy sauce (optional)

Cut the chicken into 1-inch pieces. Place the corn starch in gallon zip-top bag. Add in the chicken, seal, and toss to coat.

In a medium bowl, stir together the hoisin, soy, brown sugar, garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.

Prepare ramen noodles according to package directions (without using the seasoning packets). Drain and set aside.

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Shake off excess cornstarch and add the chicken to the hot oil. Cook the chicken pieces until they are browned on both sides and cooked through. Depending on the size of the pan, you may need to work in batches, being sure not to crowd the pan. Add additional oil if necessary. Remove the chicken from the skillet to a plate and set aside.

Add the sauce ingredients to the pan. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, and cook for about 5 minutes or until the sauce has thickened. Add additional crushed red pepper to your liking.

Return the chicken to the pan and coat in the sauce. Add the cooked ramen and toss to coat. Add additional soy sauce if desired. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired. Serve immediately.



This scrumptious Sesame Chicken Recipe is both sweet and salty with just a hint of spice. It only takes a few minutes to prepare and tastes like heaven.

chili sauce (sambal oelek)

In large Ziploc bag shake chicken pieces and 1/4 cup cornstarch. In large saucepan over medium heat add 2 tablespoons canola oil. Fry the chicken in batches; flipping over to brown both sides. Remove to plate when browned. Fry in batches; adding oil when necessary.

In small sauce pan add one tablespoon canola oil. Add garlic and cook until fragrant. Add the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey and chili sauce. Add 2 tablespoons cornstarch to water and whisk into sauce pan. Cook until slightly thickened.

Wipe out the pan that you fried the chicken in. Turn the heat to medium high and add the sesame seeds and toast for 3-5 minutes or until lightly browned; stirring frequently. Remove toasted sesame seeds to bowl.   Return the cooked chicken to skillet.  Stir in sauce and sprinkle with scallions and toasted sesame seeds.  Serve over rice or Chinese noodles.

SESAME CHICKEN REC

Skip the take-out and make this Paleo Sesame Chicken instead. It&#x27;s just as good and happens to be gluten-free, grain-free and refined sugar-free.

Paleo Sesame Chicken (Gluten-Free & Grain-Free)

(plus 1 tablespoon, avocado oil)

(skinless chicken thighs

Kosher salt

arrowroot starch

medium yellow onion – diced

red bell pepper – diced

green bell pepper

garlic – finely chopped

coconut aminos

rice wine vinegar

freshly-cracked black pepper

sesame seeds –

Preheat ¼ cup avocado oil in a cast-iron or non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until oil registers 375F on an instant read thermometer.

Lightly season both sides of the chicken pieces with salt and add to a large bowl along with the arrowroot starch. Toss until completely coated. Working in batches so as not to overcrowd the pan, shake off excess starch and carefully add the chicken pieces to the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, around 3 minutes, then flip and fry until the second side is golden brown and the chicken is cooked through, another 3 minutes. Transfer chicken to a plate and set aside while you fry the remaining pieces.

Preheat a separate pan over medium-high heat. Add the avocado oil and heat until shimmering. Add the onion, red pepper, green pepper, garlic and ginger and cook, stirring, until onions are slightly translucent. Add the coconut aminos, rice wine vinegar and honey. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the liquid has reduced in volume by half. Add the sesame oil, black pepper and cooked chicken pieces. Carefully toss everything to coat.

Transfer the chicken to a serving platter, season with sesame seeds and serve immediately.

Healthy Sesame Chicken (Gluten Free + Paleo Friendly)

chicken breast (or thighs), diced into 1″ cubes

cornstarch (or arrowroot)

Tbsp. gluten free tamari (or soy sauce

Avocado oil

Tbsp. pure maple syrup

Tbsp. rice vinegar

sesame oil (or more, to taste)

garlic, finely minced

red pepper flakes (optional)

In a medium bowl or container, combine diced chicken with 2 Tbsp. cornstarch and 1 1/2 Tbsp. tamari. Toss with a fork to coat well.

In a medium skillet, heat 1 Tbsp. avocado oil over medium-high heat.

Working in batches, add chicken pieces to the pan (they shouldn&#8217;t be touching) and cook 3-4 minutes on the first side and 1-3 minutes on the second side to cook through. (They should be fully opaque and have no pink inside).

Remove cooked chicken to a clean plate and repeat with remaining chicken until add chicken is cooked, adding more oil to the pan as needed.

START WITH THE CHICKEN:

In a bowl or liquid measuring cup, combine water, tamari, syrup or honey, vinegar, toasted sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Whisk to combine.

In a small bowl, whisk together 1 Tbsp cornstarch with 1 Tbsp water to make a cornstarch slurry.

When the chicken is fully cooked, reduce the heat in the pan to medium-low.

Add cornstarch slurry to the sesame sauce mixture and whisk to combine (it&#8217;ll now look a bit milky).

Pour sauce mixture into the warm pan and whisk over medium-low heat 3-5 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbling, thickened, and more translucent. (You should start to be able to see the path of your whisk in the sauce).

Return cooked chicken to pan and coat with the sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve warm!

Was great! A big hit. I didn’t have sesame seeds so I made it orange chicken by squeezing two orange slices on top of the final mix. Was delicious.

I actually need to know why there are two 1/2 tsp of ginger and one of them is optional.  I'm about to make this tonight and I am confused.

This was delicious! I reduced the amount of water because I thought it would be too much, but it ended up being too thick once it cooked down, so the water amount from the recipe is right. I also used arrowroot powder instead of corn starch and worked out great!

I made it for my husband and I tonight and it was delicious! He said he'd like for it to be added "into the rotation" haha. I love how the chicken was nice and crispy and adding the red pepper flakes added the right amount of heat that we like.

Is there any reason Avocado Oil is your preference? I'm going to grab some for next time and other recipes but I'm just curious.

Instant Pot sesame chicken takes less than 15 minutes to make in your pressure cooker now! A sweet and sticky sauce with tender chicken over rice is a fave.&nbsp;

Instant Pot Sesame Chicken

onion (diced)

chicken breasts (boneless, skinless,

tbsp sesame seeds

Worcestershire sauce

tbsp honey

green onion (diced, more for topping if desired)

tbsp sesame oil oil

tbsp ginger (I use minced, jarred)

cornstarch (+ 4 tbsp cold water)

Add your diced onions, sesame oil, diced raw chicken breasts, 1.5 tbsp minced garlic and 1.5 tbsp minced ginger into your pot. Set to saute.

Mix all ingredients together so chicken pcs. are coated, cook until pink on outside of chicken pcs. is gone.

Turn Instant Pot off.

Whisk together remaining ingredients except cornstarch, and only use 1 tbsp of your sesame seeds, pour into your pot. Stir so all chicken pieces are nicely coated.

Close lid and steam valve and set to pressure high for 3 minutes.

Do a quick release, lift lid and set to saute again if you want the sauce to be thicker.

In a small bowl whisk together your cornstarch and cold water well so there are no lumps, add this into your IP once it begins to bubble on the saute setting.

Stir for 1-2 minutes until sauce begins to thicken, then turn pot off and unplug so it doesn't continue to cook.

Serve on top of rice sprinkled with your remaining tbsp of sesame seeds and add some diced green onions if desired.
