Perfect Banana Pudding

c. whole milk

(5.1-oz.) package vanilla pudding mix

(14-oz.) can sweetened condensed milk

heavy cream

I made this recipe. It was quick and easy to put together. I did not have sweetened condensed milk, so I combined one can (12 ounces) of evaporated milk with 2 1/4  cups of granulated sugar which I then boiled on the stovetop stirring constantly until it thickened. Chilled it in an ice bath to cool so that I could add it to the instant pudding mixture. Everybody loved this super smooth delicious banana putting.

This was the first time I made this recipe because I usually make banana pudding from scratch with egg yolks and milk and cook on the stove until done. I will definitely save this recipe and make it again and again (this time I’ll make sure I have sweeten condensed milk in the pantry before I begin). I definitely rated five stars and everyone raved about how good it was!  Thanks Delish!

I've made Banana Pudding different ways. I always prefer homemade pudding of course, but I usually don't have the time. I "never" use instant pudding, I don't buy it, it taste fake. I use the Cook&Serve Vanilla pudding. I've never used banana pudding (it doesn't taste like real bananas). I don't use condensed milk because it makes it too sweet. I usually use 2 tubs of Cool Whip, 1 for the pudding and the other (about ¾) for the topping. My great-grandmother never used any type of whipped topping and it came out great, of course she made everything from scratch. 
My aunt uses French Vanilla pudding. It's very good, if you like French Vanilla pudding.

I've made this recipe for about 20 years.  If you're in a pinch,  use Cool Whip and it's even easier.  I add the bananas to the pudding/ cream mixture and then layer that between the wafers.

I've never seen or had banana pudding made with instant pudding.

Prepare and roll out the pie crust. Transfer it to a standard 9-inch pie dish.

Trim the edge almost even with the edge of the pan Fold the edges under and crimp with your fingers or a fork. Refrigerate until you are ready to bake.

Position one rack in the center of the oven and one in the lower third. Preheat to 325 degrees F.

In the bowl of a standard mixer fitted with the paddle attachment or a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs on low speed just until mixed.

To the bowl, add the sugar, flour, and salt. Mix again on low speed, just until the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Add the melted butter and mix once more.

Add the buttermilk, whiskey, lemon zest, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and nutmeg. Gently stir until combined.

Remove the pie crust from the refrigerator. Slowly pour in the filling. Pour into prepared pie shell. Gently place the pie dish on a rimmed baking sheet.

Carefully place the pie on its baking sheet onto the bottom third rack. Bake for 20 minutes.

Slowly and gently transfer the baking sheet with the pie to the oven&#039;s center rack. Continue baking for 40 more minutes. You will know the pie is done when the center is set and a thin, crackly crust forms on top. Check the pie a few times as it bakes to make sure the crust isn&#039;t browning too fast. If the crust starts to become darker than you&#039;d like, use a pie shield or strips of aluminum foil to cover and protect it. Continue baking as directed.

Transfer the pie to a wire rack to cool. You can serve it warm, chilled, or at room temperature. Top with lots of whipped cream and enjoy!

Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 9x13 baking dish with butter and set aside.

With a serrated knife, cube your crusty whole grain bread and add to the baking dish. About an inch or so in size is perfect.

In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, Greek yogurt, milk, extracts, stevia or granulated sweetener of choice, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cardamon, lemon juice, lemon zest and salt until fully combined. Pour custard mixture over bread, making sure all bread gets coated.

Preheat oven to 350F.

Using the stick of unsalted butter, liberally grease the bottom and sides of a cast iron skillet.

Bake until light brown (but don’t let them get too brown!). 5-6 minutes in the conventional oven and 3-4 minutes in the Instant Pot Omni Plus oven. (Tea cakes don’t take long to bake, so keep a close eye on them to avoid burning! Like a biscuit, you want them firm on the outside and fluffy on the inside.)

Optional: When the tea cakes are finished baking and cooling, optionally make the lemon glaze frosting by combining the powdered sugar and lemon juice.

Mix well with a whisk to remove any lumps from the powdered sugar.

Use a small spatula or spoon to drop a dollop of icing onto each cooled tea cake. The icing will harden in about 5 minutes.

Black Folks Southern Peach Cobbler Recipe

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Place the butter in the baking dish and then place the dish in the oven to melt the butter while the oven is preheating.

Remove the melted butter from the oven after a few minutes and set it aside.

Peel and slice the peaches into quarters, and then halve the quartered peach slices. (If using canned peaches, use a colander to drain the peach juice before slicing them).

In a medium-sized bowl, mix the ingredients for the peach filling: peaches, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. (I mixed the peach cobbler filling in my Instant Pot inner pot with the lid off and the &#39;keep warm&#39; setting on.)

Add the cornstarch to the cold water and stir until smooth.

Pour the cornstarch mixture into the peach mixture.

Stir the peach mixture to combine the ingredients and then set aside.

In a second medium-sized bowl, whisk the ingredients for the cobbler batter: Bisquick, milk, sugar, and vanilla.

Pour the Bisquick mixture over the melted butter in the baking pan.

Then, pour the peaches into the Bisquick mixture (the dough will rise around the peaches as it bakes). 

Bake at 350 degrees F for 50-60 minutes in the conventional oven. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35-45 minutes if using the Instant Pot Omni Plus oven. Watch the cobbler while baking, and bake until the cobbler dough is golden brown.

To test if the cobbler is done, insert a toothpick into the center of the cobbler dough. If it comes out clean, then it is done.
