Step 1
Allow the ground sausage to sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes. This will allow the sausage to easily mix into the other ingredients.
Step 2
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire baking rack onto the lined pan. Spray the rack with nonstick cooking spray. This step will allow the grease to drip off onto the pan below.
Step 3
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, seasoned salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder until well combined.
Step 4
Add the sausage, cheese, and ¼ cup of milk to the flour mixture. Using your hands, evenly combine the mixture is well combined. If needed, and unlikely that it will be needed after mixing well, add additional milk, ½ tablespoon at a time, to help the mixture come together.
Step 5
Roll 1½ tablespoons of the dough into a ball and place it onto the prepared baking rack.
Step 6
Bake the sausage balls for 18-22 minutes, or until golden.
Step 7
Serve warm with maple syrup or your favorite dipping sauce (BBQ sauce, mustard, ranch, etc)
